Two Cards with Birch Tree Trunks
by Angie Cimbalo

White okay 1

Hello and welcome, it's Angie here today with two Christmas cards featuring the new "Pine Needle Frame", "Layered Birds", and "Birch Tree Trunks." I combined them both with sentiments from last year's holiday release.

For this card I took a white piece of card stock and made an A2 card base. I die cut the "Pine Needle Frame" from green card stock in the "Lush Green Collection." The tree trunks were cut from watercolor card stock and birds were all die cut from white card stock. The red on the birds was made with markers and the ink on the birch tree was made by using Distress Inks direct to the watercolor paper, giving it a very textured look. Here's a closer look:

White close

I added all the die cuts to the card front. The "Joy Posh Script" sentiment was cut from both white and green card stock and glued together, then popped up on the bottom left of the card front.

Lastly I added Cosmic Shimmer "Fluffy Stuff" for snow, and then heated it up with my heat tool so they would puff up like snow.

Now on to card #2 - here's a look:

Blue 2

To make this second card I took a piece of light blue card stock from the Memory Box "Stormy Blue Collection" and added lots of white ink on the bottom portion to simulate snow. This card was pretty much made exactly the same except I used different birds and the sentiment was made with the same red markers I colored the birds with. This sentiment die is called "Let it Snow Posh Script," and it's also from last year's holiday release. Here's a close up look:

Blue close

One other difference was these trees were cut from regular white card stock and not the watercolor card stock. That's why they have a little less texture on them.

I hope you like my cards for today! I had a lot of fun creating them. Be sure to check out all the new holiday dies in this year's release. They all go so well with other holiday dies from Memory Box you may have in your stash!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Boo Card
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_2732

Hello everyone!  Today I have a cute Halloween card for you.

I started with a white cardstock panel, and used a blender brush to add a light touch of Vintage Photo Distress ink to the background.

Next I die cut all my elements:

  • Black cardstock was used for the Haunted House, Fence, Bats and the word "Boo".
  • Ghosts were die cut from white cardstock
  • Pumpkin from orange cardstock
  • Moon from yellow cardstock

IMG_2734

To assemble the card, I glued down the moon first, the Haunted House next.  Then I tucked the ghosts behind the house and glued the fence in place.  The pumpkin was glued in front of the fence.

The word Boo was cut apart from the "Boo to You" die cut and glued in place underneath the fence.

Then I glued the bats to the card front.

I adhered the card front to a black mat and used foam tape to glue it to a white cardstock mat.  This was adhered to an orange cardstock mat and glued to a white card base.

That's it for today!  I hope you have a Happy Halloween!!!

Heartfelt Holiday Greetings by Jean Okimoto

A sparkly heart and shimmery Classic Pair of Ice Skates create a holiday design in soft shades of peach, coral and silver.  Floss or crochet thread adds dimension and texture to the skates.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a holiday slimline design from our Christmas '22 Collection.

Cut the tops of the Classic Pair of Ice Skates from the pale peach

Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad 6x6.  Cut the base from the darker peach sheet.  Cut the runners from the silver 6x6.

Add the realistic look of laces with floss or crochet thread.  Pull another strand of floss or thread over a block of beeswax or paraffin to coat and stiffen the fibers and add some shape to the loops. Tie the bow and tape the ends behind the skates.

Cut the small and medium Starburst Snowflake Discs from the Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad silver sheet.  We're using the inner offcuts here.

Cut the sparkly peach Delicate Pastels Glitter Pad 6x6 with the three largest Double Stitch Happy Heart dies.

Prep the new Keep  Christmas Curled Script die with scrunched waxed paper to help release the delicate letters and little pieces.  Notice how the dots for the letter i in "Christmas" and "in" are created by the other sections of the greeting so we don't need to find - and attach - that elusive teeny tiny circle.  Very smart, thanks Dave Brethauer!

Attach the hearts to a white slimline card (3-⅝" x 8-½") - slightly offset so a bit of the white card peeks through.  Attach the other diecuts - use foam dots for left skate. Use a tiny drop of glue to attach the center of the bow to the card.

Add clear Christmas Fairy Dewdrops.  Cut a slimline-sized piece of  cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Slimline cards have plenty of space for large designs - and they'll stand out in a crowd of holiday mail.  Thanks for visiting - see you on Thursday!

Bear in the Pines
by Anne Thompson

I've been following the adventures of a bear cub in the next town, no mother bear anywhere for days and days.  He has been successfully captured by the local game warden and transported up north to the only bear rehabilitation facility in Maine.  There he will be fed and cared for through the winter to be released in the late spring.  This is a good ending to what could have been a disaster for this little fellow.  His story made me take another look at the LAYERED POLAR BEAR 94685 die and reimagine him as a different kind of bear.  Maine bears are black bears and wouldn't be as interesting created in paper as ones in brown plaids...

IMG_3944-ink

This is a "Beary" Christmas design that can easily be replicated in assembly line fashion with a sentiment added inside the card.

I used plaid papers (of course) from JOLLY CHRISTMAS PP1019 and WOODSY PLAID PP1018.

IMG_3941-ink
The dies I used are LAYERED POLAR BEAR 94685 and PINE NEEDLE FRAME 94687.

IMG_3943-ink

To make this cared, die cut all the bear parts using two coordinating papers and put it together using the envelope picture as a guide.  Add some Fairy Jewels for the eyes and nose.

Die cut the Pine Needle Frame from one of the green plaids, making sure to remove all of the tiny pieces.

Cover the entire front of a white notecard with another plaid paper in a lighter tone.  Add the Pine Needle Frame using a glue pen.  Put foam dimensional dots on the back of the bear and pop him into the center.

Either die cut, stamp, or write a sentiment inside the card.

Have some fun making bears of many colors.  This is one of the cards we'll be making at my class this week.  I can't wait to see the bears they create!

Happy Crafting!

Build a glittery snowflake tree with the newest dies from Memory Box. Feathery Snowflake Discs and Starburst Snowflake Discs are ready for any holiday design on your to-do list.  They can also be ornaments, decorated cookies, pastel peppermints, garlands or game pieces.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here on a rainy card-making Saturday.

Cut Feathery Snowflake Discs and Starburst Snowflake Discs from heavy white cardstock.  We'll need a total of 8 small, 4 medium and 1 large disc.  Save the delicate snowflake offcuts for another project.  Cut the dark teal 6x6 from the Glitzy Glitter Pad with the 1", 1-¼" and 1-½" Circle Basics dies.  You'll need a matching circle for each of the snowflake discs.  Attach the snowflake discs.

Cut the skinniest Birch Tree Trunk from the gold 6x6 inn the Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad.  Attach it to a white A6 card (4-½" x 6-¼").  Attach the snowflake discs.

Cut the new Layered Birds from the gold 6x6 in the Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad.  Assemble the birds and attach them to the card.

Cut Repeat the Sounding Joy Curled Script from a dark teal 6x6 in the Fresh Aqua Collection.  Attach it in the card - leave the ends of the R and Y unattached.  Attach the snowflake discs, then glue the ends to the discs.  The very tiny piece to dot the i disappeared so I used one of the tiny offcuts instead.

Create a symmetrical tree with the snowflake discs too with 1, 2, 3 and 4 per layer.  Or attach the inner snowflake offcuts to circles and build another tree.  There are so many ways to use these great dies!

Thanks for visiting - see you on Tuesday!

Merry Christmas
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_2735

Good morning everyone!  Today I have a fun Christmas Card for you which features new products from the 2022 Memory Box Christmas Release.

To make this card, I started by creating an ink blended background using Distress Oxide Inks.

IMG_2681

I spattered the background with plain water and pressed a dry paper towel to it to remove some of the color.

IMG_2737

Next I die cut a circle from white cardstock for the moon. I used a blender brush to apply Scattered Straw and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide inks to color the moon.  I spritzed it with plain water to add texture to the moon.  Once the moon was dry I glued it to my background.

The trees where die cut from white cardstock and glued to the background.

The Santa and sleigh were die cut from black cardstock, and glued in place across the moon.

Then I stamped the words "Merry Christmas" in black ink at the bottom right hand corner of the card.

IMG_2736 (1)

I spattered the card front with white paint and adhered it to a white cardstock mat.  This was glued to a black mat and adhered to a white card base.

To finish the card, I added a red jewel to the reindeer's nose.

That's it for today!  Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Merry Christmas with Celeste & Gloriette Snowflakes
by Angie Cimbalo

Card 1 a

Hello and welcome, it's Angie here today with some holiday card inspiration for you!

Today I am featuring several new dies from the newest release:

Celeste Snowflake
Gloriette Snoflake Collage
Merry Christmas Curled Script

The snowflake dies come with two dies, one that cuts the pattern and an outline die if you want to have the snowflake with a wider edge around it. For my cards I only used the inside dies, not the outline dies.

I also used Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad for the silver parts and gems from both the Christmas Jewels and Christmas Crystals sets.

Here's a closer look at my first card:

Card 1 b'

I love it when the light catches those lovely red gems! Here's how I made my card:
First I cut the two snowflakes out of the bottom of an A2 card panel. Be sure to save the extra wide pieces around the edge that fall out!

As you can see in the picture below, I added the white cut panel to a black one but needed to find the extra white pieces to add in the black spaces around the edges.

Process

Once I have them all added I die cut both snowflakes out of silver mirror card stock and inserted them into the openings on the white panel. I went back and added the white pieces around the edge to give it a more finished look. I cut the white/black panel down by 3/4" and then added it to an A2 black panel before adding that to my card base. I put the white panel in the bottom left corner, leaving a black edge on the top and on the right.

Next I added the die cut sentiment and some red gems. Here's a final look at my first card:

Card 1 c

I was having so much fun I decided to go ahead and make a second card with the same supplies.

Here's a look at my second card:

Card 2 a

I made it much in the same way except I started with an A2 black panel cut on the diagonal from bottom left to top right. I added that black panel to a white card base. Next, I cut the two silver mirror snowflakes and added them to the black panel with part of them hanging over into the white part of the card. The top snowflake cuts a star from the center, so I used both stars I had cut to embellish my card along with some silver jewels from the same Christmas Jewels pack.

Here's a closer look:

Card 2 b

Lastly I cut the same sentiment word die and added it to the bottom of the card. Often when you have delicate dies like the sentiment - the letters are very thin, or the many details in the snowflakes, I find it hard to get the die cut out of the die. But the Memory Box dies cut so well and thoroughly that they fall right out. I will tell you to help with this, I turn my whole sandwich upside down before I send it through the die cutting machine and that ensures I will get a die cut that's easy to get out of the die!

Here's one last look at card #2:

Card 2 c

And here's a look at both cards, side by side:

Both cards

I hope you like my cards for today. The new dies from the latest Memory Box collection are beautiful and there are a lot of them to choose from! The make the most elegant cards with very little effort. So if you are in the market for a quick way to make your holiday cards this year, check out the whole release HERE!  If you want direct links to the products I used, head to my blog HERE!

Ornament Spin Holiday Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone!  I have an interactive card design today.  I used the Frilling Snowflake Ornament die set as a spinning feature in a easel card. The design includes a custom frame using the snowflake die from the same die set.

66A9B620-8920-41CF-AD68-DCD7C955E3B5_1_201_a

Ornament:

Die cut 2 of the ornament base from the Frilling Snowflake Ornament die using the light blue mirror paper from the Vintage Pastel Mirror pad.  Die cut 2 of the the snowflake decorative die from a light blue glitter paper from the Delicate Pastel Glitter pad.  Glue the decorative die cut on the base.  Add adhesive to one backside of the ornament then add a long piece of clear string down the center and then adhere the other ornament on top.

64128615-10B7-4A01-B4BE-2609016E3EF6

Frame:

Cut 2 panel using the lightest blue paper from Fresh Aqua pack to A2 size.  Die cut a circle in both panels with the Circle Basic set slightly larger than the Frilling Snowflake Ornament in the upper center of the card.  Use this die and the one size larger to cut a frame out of the matching light blue mirror paper from the Vintage Pastel Mirror pad.  Die cut a frame using the Rectangle Basic largest and 2nd largest from the matching light blue mirror paper from the Vintage Pastel Mirror pad.  Die cut the snowflake from the Frilling Snowflake Ornament die set from the matching light blue glitter paper from the Delicate Pastel Glitter pad. Adhere the snowflake die cuts on 1 of the A2 panel around the circle cutout.  Trim off any excess die cuts hanging off.  Adhere the frames to the circle cutout and panel.  Add the adhesive to the plan card panel.  Center the ornament in the cut out, keeping the clear thread tight.  Add the frame on top.  Trim off any excess thread.

61098D45-35FE-4D47-9F85-B87130EF7706

Sentiment:

Die cut 2 bottoms Joy Posh Script die from the matching light blue mirror paper from the Vintage Pastel Mirror pad and the top from matching light blue glitter paper from the Delicate Pastel Glitter pad. Adhere together.

Card Base:

Take a top folding heavy white A2 card base and cut out a circle cutout to match the position of the frame panel.  Make sure to open the card to only die cut one side.  Add a score line through the lower circle. Folder along the score line.  Adhere the frame panel to the card from the the score line down to the bottom of the card.  Open up the card folding on the score line and adhere the sentiment to where the card opens up just enough for the ornament to turn.  I did die cut the snowflake from fun foam and stamped the inside with Fresh Ink Silicone Blue.

Set the scene for Halloween with dies from our Fall '22 and Christmas '22 Collections.  Turn the Christmas '22 Celeste Plate upside-down for a spooky Halloween look with new fall dies.  I see a field of creatures in orderly columns and rows.   Do you see them?

Hi, Jean Okimoto here with another Halloween idea for a year that's gone by so quickly.

Prep the Celeste Plate by rubbing it briskly with scrunched waxed paper to help release the diecut bits and pieces.  Cut it from black cardstock.  Attach it to an orange top-folded A2 Card.

Cut the Nested Globe layers from black cardstock and the dark orange 6x6 sheet in the Sunny Orange Collection.

Cut the fence - from the Rickety House set - from a light orange 6x6 in the Sunny Orange Collection.

The bat and ghosts are from the Haunted Entrance Globe Layer die set.  Cut them from white cardstock and Black Glossy Paper (it's cardstock).

Cut Boo Posh Script from black cardstock and a soft orange sheet in the Sunny Orange Collection.  Assemble the greeting - then attach the little ghosts.

Attach everything to an orange notecard.
