Merry Christmas with Frilling Snowflake Ornament
by Angie Cimbalo

Close

Hello and welcome, it's Angie here today with a fun holiday card featuring the new "Frilling Snowflake Ornament" die.  Here's a closer look at my card:

Close

The sentiment is from a previous holiday release and it's called "Special Merry Christmas" and I cut it in both silver and black glossy card stocks and stacked them up.

The ornament backs are cut from the glossy black card stock and the ornament itself is cut from silver mirror card stock from the Vintage Mirror Pad.  I added the silver outline ornament to the black background die cut and then placed all 3 of them on the card front, with 2 of them hanging off the edges.  After the glue dried, I cut the extra of the sides of the card.

Lastly I added lots of jewels and crystals, all from Memory Box, to jazz up my ornaments.  I really like all the colorful gems with the silver and black!

Here's one last look:

Working with amazing dies like these makes it so easy and quick to create beautiful one of a kind card designs.  Be sure to check out the whole release for all the products that just came out!  You will be amazed at all the possibilities!

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you like my card for today!

Merry Christmas Card
by Donna Sledzik

 IMG_2543

Hello everyone!  I have another Christmas Card for you today featuring new products from the 2022 Memory Box Christmas release.  I also used the Simon Says Stamp/ Memory Box "Beautiful Moments Stamptember stamp set.

IMG_2545

I die cut the Pine Needle Frame from white cardstock and glued it to a black cardstock mat.  I used foam tape to adhere it to a white card base.

The words Merry Christmas were die cut twice from white cardstock and once from silver metallic cardstock.  The words were stacked and glued together ending with the silver metallic words on top.  I used liquid glue to adhere them to the middle of the card.

I stamped the berries and leaves on watercolor cardstock and colored them with Tim Holtz Watercolor Distress pencils.  I fussy cut all the berries and glued them to the card.

IMG_2542

The fussy cutting was the longest part of creating this card!  Lol

That's it for today!  See you next time with another Christmas creation!

The new Forest Path from our Christmas 2022 Collection is quickly becoming a Design Team favorite.  It's great for frosty winter scenes like Sara's and Trina's.  Add wide-eyed ghosts from the Ghosts in the Forest set - and it's a Halloween card too!  Hi, Jean Okimoto here sharing a fall scene with a combo from our Fall and Christmas Collections.

Prep the Forest Path die by rubbing it briskly with scrunched waxed paper to help release the tiny offcuts around the treetops.  Cut it from black cardstock.

Cut a piece of the dark gray/brown Earth Neutral 6x6 to fit behind the black diecut and attach it.  It's either an old country road winding thru the woods - or a muddy stream after a fall rainstorm.   Attach it to a top-folded dark orange A2 card.

Cut the ghosts from the Ghosts in the Forest set.  Love their faces!  Attach them to the background with foam tape.

Cut Boo Posh Script from black cardstock and the bright yellow-green Lush Green Collection 6x6.

Use a hard rubber brayer and frayed burlap Distress Oxide ink to highlight the texture of Kraft Woodgrain Paper.  Dry the ink and diecut Rickety House - just the main section, not the roof section.  Cut the roof from the dark brown Earth Neutral 6x6.  Cut a scrap of the yellow glittered Twinkling Jewel 6x6 for a sparkly door and windows.

Another Home Decor Idea Reimagined as a Card
by Anne Thompson

Last week I showed you my front door as a card--a pair of skates with a big plaid bow.  Something else I've done in the past is prop an old sled by the front door with a pair of skates tied to it and a red bow.  Today's card is a variation on that theme using the LAYERED SLED and the smaller CLASSIC PAIR OF ICE SKATES.

IMG_3895-ink

These are the materials I used.

  • red plaid papers from JOLLY CHRISTMAS PP1019
  • a tiny scrap of brown plaid paper from WOODSY PLAID PP1018
  • a scrap of dark brown cardstock from EARTH NEUTRAL SP1009
  • white cardstock
  • a scrap of BLACK GLOSSY SH44004
  • a scrap of silver from VINTAGE PASTEL MIRROR PAD FP1002
  • red embroidery thread and a large-eyed needle
  • a tiny red/white dots bow
  • LAYERED SLED 94686
  • CLASSIC PAIR OF ICE SKATES 94674
  • GLORIETTE SNOWFLAKE COLLAGE 94696 (just the outline that makes the solid shape)

Here's a photo of almost everything on my list.

IMG_3892-ink

to make this card

  • start with a white notecard and add a piece of red plaid paper 5 1/4 X 4 to the front
  • die cut the outline Gloriette Snowflake from a lighter red plaid paper and add it to the notecard
  • die cut the Layered Sled three times--from dark brown cardstock for the base, from silver for the runners, and from a light brown plaid for the wooden slats on the sled top; assemble using a glue pen--don't forget to add the wooden steering bar; add it to the snowflake shape at a bit of an angle
  • for the skates, die cut them three times--from white cardstock, from black glossy paper for the sole and heel, and from silver mirror cardstock for the skate blades; assemble using a glue pen
  • thread a large-eyed needle with a double thread of embroidery floss; tape the ends behind the body of the skate and sew through the loops to make the skate lacings, up from underneath each time; tie the threads for each skate together and secure to the card with a Glue Dot behind the knot
  • add a bow to cover the knot

IMG_3899-ink

When I was working on this card I felt it needed something to anchor the sled and skates.  I tried a variety of shapes behind them before settling on the snowflake outline and then opted to make that in a red plaid paper for more color.  Thinking about it now as I'm writing this I want to make this card again and try a glitter snowflake for even more texture and some added sparkle.  I know I'll be making more sleds--the combinations of papers is limitless--and I'm already thinking of other dies that will work with the sled.  I love how one idea sparks a multitude of others.

This finished card can be used for many occasions throughout the coming winter just by adding an appropriate sentiment inside.

What inspires you when you sit down to design a card? How does that initial idea develop and even change as you gather materials and put things together?

Happy Crafting!

Frozen Pond Scene Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone.  I have a scene card with a frozen pond in the woods that is an ice skating dream.

4890551A-44D6-4C01-96B9-E00FE6722F07_1_201_a

Pond:

Ink blend using a Silicone Fresh Ink on a extra heavy white card stock that is at least 5" long and 3" high.  Use a sweeping motion from one end to the other.  Spread Ranger Icicle across the card thickly.  Set aside to fully dry.  Usually takes up to 2 hours.

Trees:

Ink blend the first lightest green paper from the Lush Green paper pad with Rustic Wilderness Distress Ink.  Let dry.  Die cut the full trees from the Layered Narrow Pines.  Color the truck of the tree with a brown ink pen.  Die cut the half trees die out of the first light green paper, not inked.  Adhere the 2 die cuts together.  Add glue to the tips of the trees and then add Tim Holtz Rock Candy glitter to the glue.  Let dry.  Take a white Posco Pen and draw a figure eight in the middle of the paper.

Ice Skates:

Die cut the blades form silver paper from the Vintage Pastel Mirror pad.  Die cut the heel from Woodgrain Kraft paper.  Use your finger to add Distress Walnut stain ink over the die cut.  Die cut the shoe from white card stock.  Add shading with Silicone Fresh Ink around the die cut.  Adhere the die cut together using the image on the envelope as a guide.  Thread using a blue cross stick thread through the holes.  Use tape to adhere the ends to the back of the skates.  Tie 2 bows with the same thread and ahead them to the top of the skates.

FFD54E78-F951-4646-97DD-168BC62D5129

Snow Banks:

Fussy cut know banks out of white glitter paper from the Majestic Hues Glitter Pas.  Add a light blue/green alcohol marker to the furthest away hill.  Add a line on the next hill to create the appearance of 2 hills.

Sentiment:

Die cut the Merry Christmas Curled Script from the darkest blu from the Stormy Blue pad.

Assembly:

Take a white 5"x7" card. Ink blend the top with Distress Oxide Stormy Sky.  Splatter with water and white acrylic paint to create the appearance of snow.  Adhere the pond to the lower center of the card.  Adhere the snow banks on top of the pond. Add the trees to the upper snow banks.  Trim off the upper trees.  Adhere the sentiment to the lower left side of the card.  Adhere the skates to the lower right side of the card.

Forest Path Snowglobe
by Trina Pham

AAB98777-8032-4D04-A924-DEC8C703961A

Hello everyone.  I have a simple Christmas card to share today featuring the new Forest Path and Nested Globe Bases dies from the 2022 Christmas release.

Started by die cutting two globes from Bristol paper using a Nested Globe die.  Die cut the Forest Path on one of them and ink blended Uncharted Mariner and Speckled Egg distress inks (DI) on the other.  Splattered with water and blot with a paper towel for some texture.

5F08E81A-4356-49CA-B257-5EFB648CC226

The Snowglobe Base was die cut from white woodgrain paper and its trim from thick white scraps.  The Mini Vintage Varsity Alphabet was then die cut from Bristol paper and three letters were stacked together for dimension.  Initially coloured the top letter with Uncharted Mariner DI, but it looked awful, so coloured it with Copic Sketch marker B37.

8EF6347E-38C4-44F7-BD00-57A5F7D541DF

The snowman is from last year’s Snowmen Snowglobe die.  It was die cut 3x from white cardstock and coloured in with Copic Sketch markers.  Assembled the snowglobe then spritz with shimmer spray for some sparkle.  Mounted the snowglobe atop three layers of thick white paper and added falling snow with a white gel pen to finish.

That’s it for my card.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful day.

Warm Wishes
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_2496

Good morning everyone!  Today's card features some of the new products from the Memory Box 2022 Christmas release.  I love the little snowman die and it's perfect for paper piecing.

To make this card, I began by die cutting one of the nested globes from a light blue cardstock.  I used Stormy Sky Distress Oxide Ink to deepen the color of the die cut.  I glued it to a white cardstock panel, adhered it to a black cardstock mat and mounted it to a white card base.

I die cut the trees from 2 shades of green cardstock and glued the highlight piece on top of the darker green tree.  Next, I glued them to the blue globe die cut.

I die cut the snowman body and the hat brim from dark gray, light gray and white cardstock and glued them on top of each other.  I colored the nose with an orange marker and the eyes with a black marker.  The cheeks were done with a pink pencil and the buttons are black Nuvo Drops.  I also glued a white pompom to his hat.

The scarf and hat were die cut from the new Christmas Jolly paper pad and pieced together, then glued to the snowman.  I used foam tape to adhere him in front of the trees.

IMG_2499

I spattered the card with white paint for the look of falling snow.

I stamped the greeting on a white cardstock strip and mounted it on a larger black cardstock mat.  I used foam tape to adhere it to my card.

That's it for today!  Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Glitter and Polished Foil papers highlight the new Celeste Snowflake Trio.  Scatter them over the new Celeste Plate background for a sweet and sparkly pastel winter scene.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a quick holiday card.  The intricate designs and details are all easy to diecut - all you need to do is attach them!

Prep the beautiful Celeste Plate by briskly rubbing it with scrunched waxed paper to help release the tiny pieces.  Cut it from white cardstock and attach it to a top-folded white A2 card.

Cut the Celeste Snowflake Trio from 6x6's in the Graceful Garden and Twinkling Jewel Glitter pads and the Polished Foil pad. It's easier to cut all 3 sizes from these 3 great artpapers - and you'll have 6 extras for future projects.

Stamp the greeting - from the new Sweet Christmas Clear Stamp Set - on white cardstock with Pearlescent Jade Brilliance.  Peacock feathers Distress Oxide would match too.  Dry the ink, then trim the cardstock with the 2-¼" x 3-½" Rectangle Basics die.

Attach the snowflakes and greeting - and turquoise Christmas Fairy Jewels.  That's it!

Have fun designing with the Celeste Plate.  Don't save it for Christmas designs - it looks great in orange on a black background for Halloween too!

Thanks for stopping by - see you again on Friday...
