Greetings friends. I thought now would be a good time to share a 3-D Halloween ornament with you for those of you who enjoy making their own holiday decorations. My design can either be hung like an ornament, or I have it sitting up on my desk for decoration.
To make the display, I used a combination of new release die cuts as well as older dies. I encourage you to look at the various dome layer dies because there are so many that can be used for Christmas or winter as well as Halloween and fall.
The highlight of the display is the new Fancy Gate Globe die that I used in the front. I really wanted it to be the star of the show and open up to reveal an vignette in the back. I cut the gate out of black mirror paper so that it really shines and looks different from the plain black cardstock I used in the back of the card.
I also used a couple of the new ghost dies in the gates so that they added a spooky front to the card.
When you open up the gates, this is what you see:
I added some spooky trees in dark grey as well as a hill and the brand new Creepy Cabin die. I chose a bright orange for the house so that it would really pop, but I added some Vintage Photo Distress Ink to the top to give it an aged look.
To finish the display, I added some Halloween twine to the top.
Here is another view of the layers:
