Hi everyone! I have been having so much fun with the Ocean Fish stencils, 3D embossing folder, and matching dies. Check out my IG page at cardcrazycook for more card ideas. Today I created a tropical aquarium. I know castles don't belong but couldn't resist to use the Fantasy Castle Collage die in the scene.
Background:
Ink blend using Elements Mermaid and Blue Lagoon on a A2 white card base. Splatter with water, let set for a few seconds, and blot off. Emboss with the Waves 3D embossing folder. Heat emboss Hero Arts Sand embossing powder at the bottom 1/2" of the card base.
Ocean Fish:
**Note: make sure the stencil is the right side up by making sure the die matching the correct direction. Stencil the clown fish use a light and dark orange and ink blend heaver towards the top and bottom of the fish. For the white area use a light blue on the top and bottom of the fish give it dimension. Then use a ultra fine black tip marker to line the the sides of the stencil. Do NOT outline to the top and bottom of the fish. I found it help to look up an image of the clown fish to get the image. Then stencil in the fines with the light orange then the darker orange towards the body of the fish. Add a black line at the end of the fins. Die cut the fish. Ink around the outside of the fish to cover up any white areas. Secure the die cut in the 3D embossing folder with Washi tape and run through the die cutting machine. Add black to the eye with a fine tip black marker. Heat emboss with clear embossing powder. This give the fish a "wet" look. Repeat the same process for the other fish. I used VersaFine Clair for coloring the fish for the bright colors and blend ability. I used sponges but try using small blending brushes for blending in different colors.
Castle:
Die cut light brown from Earth Neutral paper pad with the Fantasy Castle Collage die, twice. Glue them together. Heat emboss with Tim Holtz Fire Brick Embossing Glaze.
Coral and Kelp:
Die cut orange and pink paper form Graceful Garden Glitter Pad with the 2 coral dies from the Coral and Kelp Ribbon die set. Die cut mid tone green paper from Lush Green pad the kelp dies from the Coral and Kelp Ribbon die set and Kelp Collage die set. Ink using a light and dark green VersaFine Clair.
Assembly:
Adhere the background to a A2 white card. Adhere the castle to the center of the card. Arrange the some of the fish, coral, and kelp in layers to provide depth. Adhere 2 of the fish with foam tape to give more depth. Use the largest and 3rd larges Rectangle Basic Set dies to create a frame. Die cut 2 frames from Black Glossy paper. Adhere together and add a piece of acetate to the back side. Add foam tape to the back of the frame and adhere to the card.
