Soft Monochrmatic Floral Card
by Laura Fulcher

Greetings friends. Monochromatic cards are one of my favorite looks. They often lend themselves to a clean and simple look. To make the card, I first started by creating my soft blue background.

For the background, I used my favorite Distress Ink color, which is Tumbled Glass. I like how it is a lighter blue that you can also easily build up the color. I find that if you start lightly applying the ink in the center and then slowly working your way out from the center in larger and larger circles, you are less likely to get lines from your sponge transferred onto your paper. I repeated this process four times until the ink was the color I wanted and all the splotchy areas were replaced by smooth coverage. As a final step, I lightly spritzed the paper with water to give the background a mottled look. Here is  a close up:

For the next step, I diecut my flowers out of white cardstock and lightly colored the stamens with a very pale Copic marker (YG0000). I wanted there to be just a hint of color. As a final step, I added my sentiment and a few clear jewels.

Thanks so much for stopping by today? What is your go-to monochromatic color you use a lot on cards? Do you have one?
