Greetings friends. I wanted to share a card I made using multiple layers of Distress Oxide Inks for a tone on tone look.
I started with a piece of white cardstock and then sponged stripes of Candied Apple, Spice Marmalade, Fossilized Amber, Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers and Wilted Violet Distress Oxide inks:
My tip would be to use a very light touch and gradually build your colors. You don't want to end up with sharp edges from your sponge and ink. Don't be afraid to go back and add more color to smooth out the transition between different colors.
Next, I placed my stencil on top of my background and sponged the same exact colors of Distress Oxide inks through the stencil openings:
Add lots of ink to the stencil openings. Looking back on my finished card, I wish I had added a bit more orange ink so that those butterflies would be darker. Here is a close up of the tone-on-tone inked butterflies:
To finish my card, I added my hugs die cut sentiment.
Thanks so much for stopping by today!
