Blooms with Textured Backgrounds
by Anne Thompson

For today's card I got out a scoring board, a stylus, and the LUSH GREEN COLLECTION SP1003 to create some backgrounds for the RIVERBANK LARGE LAYERED BLOOMS 94649.

To create each card background, I chose one of the bright green cardstock pieces from the Lush Green Collection and placed it on the scoring board.  Using the stylus and the grooves in the board I scored lines.  In the photo below the top piece of paper shows the indentations from the stylus and the bottom piece of paper shows the reverse side where the lines are raised.

I liked the look and the texture that the raised lines made so chose to use that side of each paper for the three cards.  On one the lines are 1/2" apart in both directions, one has the lines 1" apart in both directions, and the third was scored with diagonal lines.

Once the scored papers were trimmed and added to the notecards, I cut the largest leaves from the EXQUISITE LEAF SET 94664 from a piece of light green cardstock in the LUSH GREEN COLLECTION SP1003 and again from one of the green plaids from the MADRAS PLAID CORAL AND GREEN PP1013 paper pad.  I glued the plaid leaves on top of the solid leaves off-setting them a little.

Next I die cut the RIVERBANK LARGE LAYERED BLOOMS 94649--from the olive green floral paper in the GARLAND PP1010 PAPER PAD; from a light green and white check in the SPRING PLAID SLIM PP1015S PAPER PAD; and from a green/pink/gold paper in the SPRING PLAID SLIM PP1015S PAPER PAD.  I assembled the flowers using Glue Dots and added a large white pearl in the center of each flower.

I added the large leaf branch to each notecard first, then the flower, and finally the single leaf tucked in under the flower petals.  I used a few more pearls on each card to highlight the scored texture background.

I did not add any sentiments to the fronts of these cards because there are so many options for using them and I didn't want to cover up more of the textured backgrounds.  Once I decide who will receive each card I will add an appropriate sentiment inside.  With Mother's Day looming in May, these blooming cards may be the perfect ones to send.

Happy Crafting!
