Hi, Jean Okimoto here - with more great new dies from our latest release!  Surround a word window with blossoms and leaves from our Spring 2022 Collection and add a layered greeting. There are so many versatile floral and foliage dies it was challenging to chose the designs for this card!

Color choices were next - which of the 108 6x6 Color Collection sheets should I use?  The Twilight Purple set would be perfect for birthdays throughout the year.

The word window lets the flowers and foliage shine on the outside of the card. The new Happy Birthday Posh Script becomes the focus when the inside is revealed.  All you need to do now is personalize the message and sign your name!

We're using a combination of two great new floral sets - the bold Ruffled Blooms and the delicate Layered Star Flowers.  Cut the Ruffled Blooms from different shades of the 6x6 Twilight Purple Collection. Cut two oval centers from the pale yellow-green 6x6 in the Lush Green Collection. Cut Layered Star Flowers from the darker purple in the new Rainbow Reflections Mirror Pad.  The vivid 6x6 sheets have a pearly shimmer that photographs beautifully.  Curl some of the petals using the side of a bonefolder - or that green plastic burnishing tool.

Cut the leaves from another Lush Green 6x6 - we're using a mix of foliage from the Exquisite Leaf Set and Layered Star Flowers.

Cut the Happy Birthday Posh Script background from a white slimline card (3-½" x 8-½").  Trim the two points on the sides of the letter A  - they'll look a little toothy on a card.

Attach lined doublestick tape behind a Lush Green 6x6 large enough to cut the greeting background.  Cut the background. Cut the delicate greeting from the shimmery white sheet in the Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad.  Attach the white layer to the green background.  Close the card and slip the greeting thru the cutout and attach it inside the card for perfect placement.

Attach the diecuts to the card - it's like building a layered garden puzzle!

Shaped Flower Birthday Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone.  This is an exciting day.  A NEW MEMORY BOX RELEASE IS HERE!  There are so many beautiful flower and leaf dies in this release.  So many smaller stacked dies that are perfect for shaping. I used Layered Impatiens to create a birthday card.

618573E0-20EA-42DF-BBE5-7BF0F440DAA2_1_201_a

Flowers:

Die cut the flowers from a light and medium yellow/orange card from the Sunny Orange paper pad.  Take a slightly darker marker and flick from the center out along the cuts in the dies.  I used Copic YR02.  I used 2 techniques to shape the flowers. The first technique is to create the cupped center.   On the smallest die cut, see a small ball stylist, on a foam pad, and pull from the edge of the petal towards the center for each petal.  Then push the ball stylist in the center to form the cup.  The 2nd technique is to form the petals under.  Use a ball stylist the same size as the sections of the petals.  Turn the die cuts upside down and pull from the edge of the petal to the center.  Then turn the flower die cut over and take a small ball stylist and push in the center.  Glue same size flowers, one from each color, on top of each other.  Use the small ball stylist to push in the center as the glue is drying.   For the largest flower glue a small cupped flower.  For the smallest flower only glue 1 layer of open petals and glue a cupped flower in the center using the ball stylist to push in the center as the glue dries.

Leaf Frame:

Die cut the Exquisite Leaf Frame out of green card from the Lush Green paper pad.  Cut small 1/8" strips to layer under the frame 2 times.

Assembly:

Cut the bluish/green Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad to and A2 size panel and adhere to a cream color A2 card.  Adhere the the Exquisite Leaf Frame die to the card.  Glue the flowers around the leafs.  Die cut the new Happy Birthday Posh Script bottom from the same bluish/green Vintage Pastel Mirror paper and the top from the lightest yellow/orange paper from the Sunny Orange pad.  Adhere together then on the card in the center of the frame.  I just had an after thought to add some Fairy Drops around the sentiment.

Dimensional Diecut Stenciling by Jean Okimoto

P1013134

Create the look of a 3-layered blossom with just 2 layers - and a bit of offset diecutting.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with an easy way to add dimension to the Gentle Blossom Watercolor Floral.

P1013128

Cut the blossom from smooth white cardstock - save the offcut too.  Color the blossom with a soft layer of Distress Oxide abandoned coral.  Use the offcut to stencil the ink onto another piece of smooth white cardstock, then dry the ink.  Cut it with the blossom die - offset to reveal uninked edges along the right side.  Instant layering!

Cut the lacy top layer from the pale peach Delicate Pastel Glitter Pad 6x6 sheet.  Cut the 2-piece layered center section from a sheet in the Lush Green Color Collection.  Assemble the blossom.

Cut and assemble the leaves from another Lush Green Collection sheet.

Cut Thank You Posh Script from light kraft cardstock - and another 6x6 sheet from the Lush Green Collection.  Pressure-emboss the background diecut with the detailed greeting.  It adds dimension and makes it easy to attach the top layer - just add tiny dots of adhesive and press it onto the embossed background.

Cut the dark floral Garland 6x6 sheet with the 2-¾" x 7-¾" Slim Basic Rectangle die - place the right edge of the die along the right edge of the 6x6 for a nice smooth diecut edge on the (more visible) solid edge of the background.

P1013240

Attach the diecuts to a light kraft slimline card - 3-½" x 8-½".  Add some pale peach Pastel Fairy Jewels to several of the flowers on the background.  Cut a slimline-sized rectangle of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Hope you like the look of dark florals as much as I do - it makes the Gentle Blossom Watercolor Floral stand out against the background and emphasizes the layers and details.

Thanks for visiting our blog - see you again on Friday!

Rainbow Magic Slider
by Trina Pham

7E198A3A-C5F4-467A-BF15-5C888518B8A7

Hello everyone.  No Valentine’s / heart card today.  Instead I’m sharing a fun and colorful magic slider card featuring the Arched Collage die.  Confused with the “colorful” description from the picture above? 🤔   Then see it in action in the video below! 😉

I’ve only made this type of card using stamps and wanted to try it with dies.  Started by trimming a white top folding card base and a piece of mixed media paper to 4.25”x5”.  The width was 0.5” shorter than a regular A2 size to accommodate for the slider pull tab handle.  Next, die cut the Arched Collage from the mixed media piece, which leaves a negative cut.  This will be the front.

0B741F6F-2AAE-46E3-90A8-4BC5D104BBB6

The cutout arches were coloured in rainbow order with Copic markers.  Adhered the negative cut front piece on top of the card base with temporary adhesive and used it as a guide to adhere the colored arches directly onto the card base like so.

507EA060-A34A-463A-84CC-69BC2D1DCAE0

For the slider, it was cut to 3.5”x5.5” from white woodgrain paper.  Dies from Rectangle Basics were then used to partial die cut a t-shape on one end and a notch for the slider pull tab handle on the other end.  No measuring… just eyeballed it.

F9D124CC-CACC-445C-B26D-98AA62F08D5D

Acetate was then adhered to the back of the front piece.  Still working on the back, strips of thick white cardstock (could use foam / mounting tape here instead) were adhered to three sides to create a channel for the slider to move back and forth.  To help guide the slider and provide a stopper, a stabilizer was created by wrapping a strip of 0.5” copy paper onto itself around the slider piece.

B87FDFA1-3AEE-47FB-BA65-3D61F303E195

Note: Very important to add glue only on the outside of the stabilizer and the perimeter strips when assembling the card… otherwise, it will interfere with the sliding action.

93AF43F5-D43D-4407-925B-713C112DC9E5

A circle was die cut from black cardstock and folded in half to create the slider pull tab handle.  The Hello Friend posh script was die cut from Bristol paper 3x and stacked for dimension before mounting onto its black shadow.

A8C1213E-70D1-4BF0-903A-E29A2FC6581B

For a polished look, a frame was added to the front.  The clouds were die cut from white woodgrain paper as well and their edges inked with a finger brush and Tumbled Glass distress ink.  Assembled the card then hand printed “pull” with a white gel pen on the slider pull tab handle to finish.

Layered Embossed Pattern Valentine
by Laura Fulcher

IMG_3465

Greetings friends. I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend. Today I wanted to share a Valentine that layered two of the Memory Box 3-D embossing folder patterns. I used two different floral patterns so that there would be two different looks and yet still coordinate with each other.

For the background paper, I used the Chrysanthemum Field folder. You can see more of the detail here:

IMG_3467

The second patterns was the Blooming folder and looks like this:

IMG_3468

I really love the intense detail you can get from these folders. Remember to spritz your paper with water first before running it through the die cut machine in the folder.

After I embossed the blooming paper, I cut out a heart from the paper and layered the one floral design on top of the second.

For the flower, I cut out my design again from white cardstock and then colored the pieces with some PanPastel Chalks for a softer look.

To finish the card, I popped up the heart using some foam tape and added my die cut sentiment.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Happy Hearts and Watercolored Bubbles by Jean Okimoto

P1012930

Here's a simple Valentine idea that's quick and easy - especially if you already have a stash of watercolored or ink-blended backgrounds waiting to be used.  Hi everyone, Jean Okimoto here, pairing two die designs that seem like perfect partners.  The upbeat Bubble Border and curvy dotted Scallop Pinpoint Loving Heart Cut Out are a happy combo for Valentine's Day - or any day!

P1012984

I used a strip of watercolored and gold-spritzed watercolor paper from my stash.  The mix of pink, peach and pale orange keeps it from being strictly Valentine-ish.

Cut white cardstock with the 2-¼" X 7-¼" Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die.  Cut the rectangle with the Bubble Border.  Attach a strip of watercolored or ink-blended cardstock behind it.

Tape the 3 smallest Scallop Pinpoint Loving Heart Cut Out dies together - offset towards the right.  Cut the triple-heart from a dark pink 6x6 in the Berry Red Collection.  Leave the diecuts in the dies, tape them together on the backside and remove them all at once.

Stamp the greeting - from the Big and Little Reverse Words Clear Stamp Set - on white cardstock with Melon Impress Fresh Ink.  Heat-emboss it with detail clear powder.  Cut it with the coordinating die incuded in the stamp set.

P1012968

Attach the diecuts to a white slimline card (3-½" x 8-½") - use foamtape for the greeting.  Add the copper-y Treasure Chest Fairy Gemstones.  Cut a slimline-sized rectangle of cardstock to protect the card front if you're mailing the card.

Need a wedding or anniversary card?  Upgrade this design in shades of gold, rose gold or silver (or all three!).  Toast the happy couple with champagne glass diecuts above the greeting.

Thanks for visiting our blog - wishing you a Happy Valentine's Day if you're celebrating on Monday!

Watercolor Powders Floral Card
by Laura Fulcher

IMG_3463

Greetings friends. Today I want to talk about a watercolor powder technique I learned from Splitcoast Stampers. If you want to see the original video, you can find it here.

I made a ton of backgrounds with this technique. Some I thought were perfect the way they are, and others were relegated to my scrap pile. These papers were sometimes too "busy" or didn't quite have the colors I liked. I don't end up using them backgrounds, but they are absolutely perfect for diecutting. This way you can pick and choose the parts of the paper you like and want to use.

These were the two papers I chose:

IMG_3462

I wasn't sure which one I would end up using for the card, so I cut up both.

To make the backgrounds, you will need some photo paper (not glossy), some coffee filters, some watercolor powders (I used Color Burst Powders) and a spray bottle of water.

First, take the coffee filter and sprinkle it with a few colors of watercolor powder. Spritz the filter with water and then place the filter on top of the photopaper. This will transfer the color from the filter onto the photopaper. The reason you use the coffee filter in the first place is to allow the colors to blend the colors together before adding the to the paper. If you add the powders and water directly to the paper, you won't get as soft of a color blend.

Next, I die cut my flower and sentiment using my decorative papers and layered them onto my card. Here is a close up of the die cut pieces:

IMG_3464

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you are inspired to make your own backgrounds!

Floral Watercolor Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone.  I am using the new Gentle Blossom Watercolor Bloom die set with a subtle mixed media background.

5BB98E76-55AF-4ED2-913E-4A26C354D16E_1_201_a

Mixed Background:

Use a gel pad and brayer to add a water based ink pad in light blue and roll on the ink across the full gel pad.  Then add light turquoise just to the bottom half of the gel pad, blending the inks together.  I used retired Colorbox ink pad but Wendy Vecchi or Distress Oxides inks work well for the gel press as well.  Add small splatter all over with water down Brush ink in blue.  Take a print using a white mixed media paper. Let dry.  Add leaves using the Leafy Rows stencil and clear glimmer embossing paste to the lower part of the paper.  I used Dreamworks paste.  The paste smeared in 1 area so I smeared it over the top to even it out.  One of those accidents you can turn into part of the design.  The best reason to do mixed media is for this reason.  Let dry and trim down to 4"x5 1/4".

Flowers and Leaves:

Die cut out all the Gentle Blossom Watercolor Bloom dies out of Open Studio Watercolor paper.  I used a wet on wet technique to watercolor the first lightest layer of pink for the flower and green for the leaves.  Dry to just damp and then add more thicker paint in the center and let the paint flow out to create depth.  The top layers I used a wet on dry so the color is more bold.  Drying and adding ink on top for a more intense color.  Let dry.  Adhere the die cuts together using the back the envelope as a guide.

182C1FE4-70D2-4F9F-9D28-FADB7595985D_1_201_a

Sentiment:

White emboss the "Time to Celebrate" sentiment from the Joyful Moments clear stamp set on a light pink from the Berry Reds paper pack.  Trim to a rectangle around the sentiment and cut a larger rectangle out of black to layer behind.  Add the pink paper to the black with foam squares.

Assembly:

Adhere the background to a A2 size black card base.  Add a white piece of thin paper to the  inside of the card to write a personal message.  Take a piece of tulle and wrap a piece of 1/4" double sided tape.  add to the top of the background right above the embossed leaves.  Add the flower to the center and adhere the leaves around the flower.  Add the sentiment to the bottom half of the card.
