Glitter Card, Hot Foil and Watercolor Cards
by Angie Cimbalo

Hello and welcome, it's Angie here today with two Valentine's Day cards made with dies, watercolor card, glitter paper and a little hot foiling.  Here's a closer look at card number 1:

I took a watercolored panel and the "Blissful Heart" hot foil plate (MBF014) and foiled it directly onto the watercolor panel.  Next I cut the heart out of it to use on my 2nd card.  For this first card I used another section of the watercolored panel for my card background, then added a white glitter card stock heart, cut with the "Double Stitch Loving Heart Cut Out" (94359) and added "Sending Love Daily Script" sentiment die (94661) cut from light purple glitter paper from Delicate Pastel Glitter pad and white card stock.  I arranged the heart and sentiment at an angle on the watercolored panel.  Then added it all to a white card base and added a light purple heart cut with a smaller die from the same heart set.

Okay, on to card number 2.  I used the left over piece of white glitter paper (love those double stitch heart lines) and inserted the foiled heart.  I love the way the heart looks when foiled with gold foil with my Gemini Foil Press machine on watercolor card. Here's a closer look at the heart:

The sentiment was cut from light purple glitter paper and white glitter paper.

Here's another look:

And here's one last look at my 2nd card:

I hope you like my sparkly cards for today.  I think foiling and glitter paper go well together, what do you think?  I also hope I have inspired you to create some sparkly Valentine's Day card.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hugs and Kisses
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_3779 (1)

Hello everyone!  I have another Valentine's Day card for you featuring products from the 2023 Valentine's Day release.

IMG_3782 (1)

I did a faux letterpress technique using the Blissful Heart Hot Foil die.  This is a good example of using dies other than what they were intended for.

To do this technique I used a brayer to apply Red Archival ink to the die and placed a piece of watercolor paper on top of the die.  Next, I ran this through my die cutting machine following the instructions for embossing.

IMG_3756 (1)

I used one of the hearts from the Double Stitch Loving Heart die set to die cut the letterpress heart.

I die cut the Pinpoint Leaf Plate on a white cardstock panel and adhered it to a red cardstock mat.  This was glued to a white note card.

To create the strip behind the heart, I applied double stick to a white cardstock strip of paper and glued strips of cardstock to it.  This is a great way to use scraps of cardstock.  I glued this to the center of the card and used foam tape to adhere the letterpress heart to the card.

Next, I white heat embossed the words Hugs and Kisses to a strip of black cardstock and used foam tape to adhere it to the center of the heart.

IMG_3781 (1)

To finish the card I added some Clear Fairy Drops and that's it!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Sweets Packages for My Sweeties
by Anne Thompson

Here are simple little packets to hold sweets for your sweeties.

IMG_1231 (1)-ink

  • I actually made quite a few of these over the weekend using up more of the Jolly Christmas 6X6 papers.

This is the way I assembled them.

IMG_1226 (1)-ink

  • Trim your paper to 3" X 4 1/2".  You'll need two of these.
  • Score both pieces at 4".
    IMG_1226 (1)-ink
  • Add a piece of double-sided tape (I used Scor-Tape) on the back side of one of the folds.
  • Add the other scored piece on top, matching the inside and outside plaids.  This forms the base of the packet so it will stand up.
    IMG_1226 (1)-ink
  • Add a strip of a coordinating paper to the center front.
  • Punch a hole on either side of that strip near the top of the packet.  You will add baker's twine (or another kind of ribbon, twine, etc.) to close the packet once you've added the sweets.

IMG_1231 (1)-ink

  • I used large Glue Dots to secure the chocolate squares inside the packet, attaching one to each inside strip.

IMG_1232 (1)-ink

  • I decorated this packet simply, adding small white pearls to the flower centers and larger red Fairy Dewdrops over the berries printed on the paper, and tied the packet closed with baker's twine.

IMG_1234 (1)-ink

  • For this packet I die cut three of the SCALLOP PINPOINT LOVING HEART CUT OUT 94364  from white card stock.  I used the heart centers by gluing the largest one to the front center strip and then adding the others with foam dimensional dots between each one.
  • I used baker's twine to tie the packet closed.

For a quicker assembly, use 8 1/2" X 11" card stock.  I prepared these for my valentines class at the senior center.

IMG_1224 (1)-ink

  • Cut your card stock strips 3" X 8 1/2".
  • Score at 3 7/8" and 4 5/8".
  • Add decorative papers and embellishments to the front, add your sweets to the inside, punch two holes at the top through all the layers, and tie the packets closed.

You might need to adjust the size of your strips (width, length) depending on what kind of sweets you want to tuck inside...peanut butter cups, needhams, small candy bars, bags of sweets.

And for decorating them--any of the hearts and floral dies and the valentine words dies from Memory Box!  Mix it up even more and add vintage valentine images, paper clips, buttons, ribbons, etc.

Happy Crafting!

Trifold Valentines Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone.  I have a trifold Globe shape Valentines card featuring the Pinpoint Burst heart die.  Did you know you can heat foil any dies!  The fold will stick where the metal touches the paper.  Memory Box has a lot of different dies that cut or emboss on the paper.  Look through your stash and see what you can heat foil.  Just follow the same instructions as regular folding.

9869DF66-0E63-4285-B743-B9AA7736DE7D_1_201_a

Card base:

Die cut the largest die from the Nested Globe die set 5 times from heavy weight card stock. For the windows take 1 Globe die cut and die cut the 4th largest die in the center.  Remove the center, leaving the die in place.  Take the next Globe die cut and temporary tape it to the front panel die cut.  Repeat the process for the next 2 die cut.  Leaving 1 die cut as is. for the back panel.  Next stencil the window panels with the Leafy Row stencil and Fresh Ink Pink Lemonade ink.  I used a stencil blending brush heavy for the leafs and then remove the stencil.  Lightly blend with the same ink over all the panels, including the back panel. .  To create a hinge for the panels cut 2 strips of white card stock to 3" x 1/2".  Next score down the center at 1/4".

AA2B1581-D251-4032-8BB8-22C5AD9C350D

Window centers:

Die cut the Willow Globe from a light pink paper from the Berry Red pad and from vellum.  Glue together along the outside rim.  Do NOT glue the leaves together.  Die cut the Heart Streamer Globe die set from a red paper from Berry Red pad.  Die cut the heart dies from the Heart Streamer Globe die set from a shiny gold paper from the Vintage Pastel Mirror pad.  Glue the hearts to the streamers, front and back.

AA2B1581-D251-4032-8BB8-22C5AD9C350D

Foiled Heart:

Gold heat foil the Pinpoint Burst Heart from a dark red paper from the Berry Red pad. secure the die to the foil and paper. It is the same process as you would a normal foil plate.  I used a Gemini Jr foil machine and it has a heat and cut plate option.  If your foil machine does not just heat foil the heart first then run through as a regular die cut.

D3BFF6B1-3642-4B03-8308-9130FFDE165E

Sentiment:

Stamp Happy Valentine's Day from the Big and Little Valentines clear stamp set .on white card stock using Fresh Ink Tomato Red. Trim down to small strips.

E5E44088-0E40-4419-A884-29377329127C_1_201_a

Assembly:

Take 2 window panels for the front and glue in the Willow Globe die cuts into the backside of the window.  Take 1 of the hinges and add glue to 1 side of the score line and place on the left side of  inside of the back window panel for the front..  Make sure the hinge faces down with the hinge folding towards the back.  Glue on the top of the window panel.  Repeat this process for the inner fold window panel but put the hinge on the left side of the panel.  One the back full panel adhere the foiled heart.  Adhere Happy to top of the heart and Valentine's Day to the bottom.  Adhere the inside panel first to the left side of the back of the base panel, lining up the bottoms. Let glue dry and then fold the panel open and closed a few times.  Glue the front panel hinge to the left side, back of the back panel.  Let glue dry and open and close a few times.

Valentine Card Backgrounds Using Jolly Christmas Paper
by Anne Thompson

The idea for today's cards came from my friend Donna and I think it's a great way to repurpose the rest of the Jolly Christmas papers you have as backgrounds for valentine cards and also using Garland papers for adding decorative details.

IMG_1218 (1)-ink

Start with a 4" X 4" square of one of the JOLLY CHRISTMAS PP1019 papers--I chose ones that had a lot of red and white or pinks in them.  Cut the square in half on the diagonal so you end up with two triangles.  Adhere the triangles to the front of a white (or red or pink) notecard with the shorter sides of the triangles aligned with the outside edges of the notecard, with the corner point in either the upper left and lower right corners or the upper right and lower left corners.  This will leave a solid band of color (that of the notecard) between the two triangles.  Cards can then be oriented for top-fold or side-fold opening.

Card One

IMG_1215 copy (1)-ink

  • red and white plaid paper on a white notecard, side-fold, one triangle in the upper left corner and one in the lower right corner
  • PINPOINT BURST HEART 94639 cut from white card stock glued on the top 2/3 of the card overlapping both triangles and the center band
  • "Love" from SENDING LOVE DAILY SCRIPT 94661, background cut from white card stock and the detailed letters cut from a scrap of the same red and white plaid, assembled and glued in the lower right corner

Card Two

IMG_1214 (1)-ink

  • pinks plaid paper on a white notecard, top-fold, one triangle in the upper left corner and one in the lower right corner
  • large heart cut with one of the DOUBLE STITCH LOVING HEART CUT OUT dies 94359--use the plain heart that cuts out--cut from a coordinating floral paper in the GARLAND PP1010 paper pad, glued to the center of the card, overlapping both triangles and the center band
  • "Love" from SENDING LOVE DAILY SCRIPT 94661, background cut from white card stock and the detailed letters cut from a scrap of the same pinks plaid, assembled and glued in the lower left corner

Card Three

IMG_1217 (1)-ink

  • red plaid paper on white notecard, side-fold, one triangle in the upper left corner and one in the lower right corner
  • HEART RING STACK 94662 cut from the pink roses on black floral paper in the GARLAND PP1010 paper pad, glued in the center white band
  • two hearts, one medium and one small, cut with dies from the DOUBLE STITCH LOVING HEART CUT OUT 94359 set, the medium heart glued on the upper left triangle and the smaller one on the lower right triangle
  • "Love" from SENDING LOVE DAILY SCRIPT 94661, background cut from white card stock and the detailed letters cut from a scrap of the same red plaid, assembled and glued in the lower right corner under the small heart

Card Four

IMG_1216 (1)-ink

  • red plaid paper on white notecard, side-fold, one triangle in the upper right corner and one in the lower left corner
  • RING STACK 94547 cut from a pink flowers with green ferns and white dots paper from the GARLAND PP1010 paper pad, glued across the white band, overlapping the plaid triangles a bit
  • two medium hearts, again using the DOUBLE STITCH LOVING HEART CUT OUT die, one white and placed off-center behind one from the same floral paper, added to the lower right corner with dimensional foam dots
  • one small heart, again using the DOUBLE STITCH LOVING HEART CUT OUT die, cut from the same floral paper and 0"Love" from SENDING LOVE DAILY SCRIPT 94661, background cut from white card stock and the detailed letters cut from a scrap of the same red plaid, assembled and glued in the lower left corner under the small heart

These are the dies I used:

IMG_1222 (1)-ink

Honestly, these cards came together very quickly.  I made all of the background triangles first and glued them to the notecards.  Then I auditioned the dies in my valentine box.  And there are so many I didn't choose that would have worked just as well or even better.  Think of all the floral dies you have!  And stamps!  The possibilities are endless.

Happy Crafting!

Purple Valentines Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone.  I have a Valentines card featuring the Blissful Heart hot foil plate and Luxe Peony die set.

C78ACB85-4705-4A5F-9CE9-2AAE48BD9052_1_201_a

I started off using the Memory Box watercolor paper and die cut the Luxe Peony petals.  Using deep purples and white watercolors to add color to each petal and heat set dried.  Use your fingers to curve the petals.  Splatter with some gold watercolor paint and let dry.  I used foam tape to prop up some of the petals and glue to adhere the center of the petal bases together.

7E3A5E7D-4999-482A-9581-BDF2C5EEA10A

Hot foil the Glossy Black paper with gold foil and the Blissful Heart Foil Plate.  I had to use the metal cut shim on my foil plate to get it to adhere properly.  I die cut the heart using the largest die from eh Double Stitch Loving Heart Cut Out die set.

FE885448-32B4-4E1B-B83B-0EAC0C3A000D

Loving You Post Script die was the best fit for the composition.  I used a medium hue from Twilight Purple pad to die cut the base and gold mirror from Vintage Pastel Mirror paper for the top.  Adhere together with glue.

2A526CA8-F979-4942-AB9A-0866A452CC6F_1_201_a

Use an A2 card base.  I added a A2 panel of Glossy Black paper to the front.  Then adhered a 1/4" smaller panel of a lighter hue from the Twilight Purple pad.  I also splattered some of the same gold watercolor on the panel and heat set.  Adhere the hot foil heart cutout to the upper center of the card.  Add the sentiment to the lower right hand side of the heart.  In the center of the heart add the peony flower, using foam squares to the petals to give dimension.  Add a few clear Fairy Drops to finish the card.

Blissful Heart Hot Foil Plate - Positive & Negative
by Angie Cimbalo

Hello, it's Angie here today with 2 fun cards for Valentine's Day using hot foiling!  It's quite early to be working on these but I need to work ahead as February is one of my busiest months helping out at school music programs!

For the first card I used the new "Blissful Heart" hot foil plate just released this year with some gold foil on light pink glitter paper from the "Pastel Glitter" paper pad.  I love the way it turned out, and the fun part was being able to use the negative left over piece on my second card that you will see below.

For this first card I also cut the foiled heart with the "Double Stitch Loving Heart Cut Out" (94359) largest die in the set.  I added the heart to the white card base and then added the sentiment "Sending Love Daily Script" 94661.  I used gold mirror cardsoick from the "Rainbow Reflections Mirror Pad" (FP1003) for the outline on top of white card stock.  Here's a real close up look at the heart details:

I really love how this card turned out, it's clean and simple but has lots of intricate detail on the heart.
Here's one last look:

Now let's look at what I did with the left over "negative" piece of hot foil I had:

The leftover piece was so pretty, I decided to use it in a 2nd card by attaching it to a piece of vellum, then covering it with the leftover glitter card panel that I'd cut the pink heart from.  Below you can see I turned the thin piece of leftover hot foil over, and added double sided adhesive to it so I could stick the vellum to it.  This way when you look through the gold foil openings, you will see a soft glow of the vellum.

It looks horribly messy but the messy parts will be covered by the large light pink glitter panel.

Now below you can see I turned it over and the adhesive I'd added stuck right down on the vellum square I'd cut.  Again it looks really bad, you can even see a strip of missing gold where a piece of double sided tape with a mind of it's own, stuck to my finger and ripped all the gold off!  It doesn't matter as long as the heart portion looks good, because you will cover all the ugly part with the glitter panel.

So now, I added the glitter panel (with the heart opening - I used that heart for the first card!) As you can see, all the ugly parts are hidden and all you see is that beautiful design of gold and vellum inside the heart opening!  It is all placed on a white card base.

I used the same sentiment die, gold on top of white card and put it right on the heart.  Here's one last look at my second card:

I love it when you can make two cards like this by using the leftovers from one card!  I hope you will take a look at all the wonderful Valentine's Day products available from Memory Box HERE!

Thanks for stopping by!

Love and Joy
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_3427

Hello everyone!  Today I have one more Christmas card for you using new and old products.   I used the Heart Ring Stack die from the 2023 Valentine's Day release and turned it into a Christmas card.

I die cut the Heart Ring in the middle of a white cardstock panel and saved the die cut heart outline.

Next, I ink blended a piece white cardstock to go behind the heart die cut.

IMG_3425

I glued this panel behind the die cut and glued the heart outline in place.  I adhered the white card front to a black cardstock mat and then used foam tape to glue it to a white card base.

Next, I stamped, colored and cut out the images and used foam tape to adhere them to the card.

The sentiment I stamped and white heat embossed and glued it under the row of hearts.

IMG_3428

I decided that the card needed a little something else so I added gold ink spatters.

That's it for today and my last post for 2022.  See you next year and have a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year!

Love You with Luxe Peony
by Angie Cimbalo

Main

Hello and welcome, it's Angie here today with this lovely "Love You" card featuring brand new products in the new Valentine's 2023 release. This is a great release with so many beautiful products!  Here's a closer look at my card:

Close

I used a previously released pinpoint die called "Pinpoint Leaf Plate" for the background and then added it to a card base. I cut the "Luxe Peony die" from several shades of gray card stock "Earth Neutral Paper Pack" and some pink glitter paper from the "Pastel Glitter Paper Pack." I pieced the the flower and leaves together and added them to the card front. Next I cut the "Love You Gallery Script" die from the darkest gray paper and the glitter paper and pieced them together. Lastly I added a few clear fairy dew drops to the front of the card. Here's one last look:
