Haunting Ghosts Through a Window
by Trina Pham

IMG_7423

Hello everyone.  I have a spooky cute 👻 Halloween card to share today featuring these Haunting Ghosts from the 2024 Fall Cornucopia release.

Stretched the Vintage Tray die and partial die cut it twice from white cardstock, then stacked them to create the window frame.  The ghosts were also die cut from white cardstock and their eyes backed with Black Glossy paper.  Depending on how the light hits them, the eyes “twinkle”… a pretty cool effect IRL (in real life).

IMG_7424

For the background, a moon mask was die cut from masking paper using a Circle Basics die.  A Bristol panel was trimmed to the frame size next.  Adhered the moon mask off the top edge of the panel then ink blended gradient colors of teal dye inks using blending brushes.  Splattered with water and blot with a paper towel for some texture.  Used Copic Sketch markers to add shading to the moon (C0/1/2) and ghosts (BG10/11, 0).  White heat embossed the sentiment on a black panel then assembled onto a white card base to finish.

That does it for my card.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful day.

Floral Photo Cards with Die Cut Flowers
by Anne Thompson

When I visited the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens recently I took nearly 100 photographs, mostly of stone walls and stone sculptures and fairy houses.  I did find three photographs of yellow flowers, however, and decided to use them on cards with coordinating die cut flowers, keeping with the yellow theme for this month's blog challenge.  First up, California Poppies with three Memory Box poppy dies--RUFFLED POPPY STEM 94667, SWEET POPPY STEM 94648, and GRACEFUL POPPY STEMS 94651.

IMG_3835 (1)-ink

I trimmed the 3.5 X 5 photograph of the California Poppies and added it to the lower right corner of a white notecard.  I die cut the three poppy dies from one of the yellow cardstocks and one of the orange cardstocks in the SUNNY ORANGE COLLECTION SP1002.  I assembled the yellow flowers and used only the orange stamens for the flower centers.  I added the completed flowers to the left side of the notecard.  I cut the flowers again from one of the green cardstocks in the LUSH GREEN COLLECTION SP1003 and added just the stems on top of the yellow ones.

the other two cards:

IMG_3834-ink

This time I mounted the photographs on green cardstocks from the Lush Green Collection and used another green for the TALL FRILLY LEAF STEMS 94615 which I added to the left edge of the photographs, three stems on each card.

For the flowers I used a yellow cardstock from the Sunny Orange Collection and the LAYERED PERIWINKLE die 94614.  I cut five for each card and assembled them with Glue Dots.  I used an orange marker to color the flower centers.  I added the flowers to the card using large Glue Dots for three and foam dimensional dots for two.

I've used die cuts before with photographs on scrapbook pages but I think this is the first time I've used them with photographs on greeting cards.  I will definitely do this again!  It's actually a great way, too, to use less than great photographs where the die cuts can be used in empty-ish spots or to cover something up or to draw attention to a particular element in the photo.

Happy Crafting!

Side Stella Butterfly
by Trina Pham

E3D6C2CF-AD79-477E-A2BA-62F78C8DFCF5

Hello everyone.  Today I’m stretching the Stella Butterfly from the 2022 May release to create a simple off-the-edge standard A2 size shaped card.

Took a Bristol scrap piece measuring approximately 4.25”x5.75” from my stash and drew a line across approximately 5.5” high.  Placed the Stella Butterfly background die at an angle straddling the line so only the left wing extends beyond the line.  Partial die cut above the line like this.

774955F6-17AB-498D-8A98-FBA17E0F545F

Trimmed along the drawn line up to the die cut part of butterfly to get this.

929A53C8-FA3F-4B74-99D7-DE2E8E7AD909

Embossed the bottom portion with the Gracious Leaves 3D embossing folder (EF) to give it some dimension

65E4F5E4-DE86-48D5-9CB1-8773C50C5552

The butterfly and sentiment were die cut from alcohol marker friendly cardstock and black glossy paper.  To turn the full butterfly into a side flying one, it was cut in half and one of the antennas was cut off.  Colored them with Copic Sketch markers RV02, RV04 and RV09.  For a bit of texture, splattered the butterfly background piece with diluted white gouache paint.  To mount to the card base, the flat edge of the partial die cut butterfly was aligned with the folded end of a white top folding A2 size card base.  Measure 5.5” from the end of the butterfly wing and trimmed using a paper trimmer.  Added some clear Fairy Drops to finish.

For some reason it looks shorter than 5,5” in length in the photo, but trust me it’s not. 😂  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful week.

Embossed, Stencilled Butterfly Wishes by Jean Okimoto

P1018571

Embossed, stencilled and diecut butterflies highlight a special moment.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a combo of butterfiles ready to celebrate in shimmery shades of turquoise, green and purple.

P1018594

Cut the smoother side of Open Studio Watercolor Paper with the 3" x 4-¼" Basic Rectangles die.  Pressure-emboss it with Butterfly Coterie Collage.

Stencil the embossed butterflies with the Butterfly Coterie Stencil and Distress Oxides - skip the two that will be hidden by the Ava Butterflies.  Ink colors used here - wilted violet, cracked pistachio and salvaged patina.

Blend the same inks - plus twisted citron - on a strip of watercolor paper.  Spritz and splatter it with Imagine's Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz.  Airdry the ink for a few minutes, then heat-set it.  Cut it into 2 strips and lightly ink the edges with Cracked Pistachio.

Cut Ava Butterflies from the turquoise and purple 6x6 sheets in the Rainbow Reflections Mirror Pad.  Attach them with foamdots.

Stamp the greeting - from the Poppystamps Art Deco Birthday Greetings Clear Stamps - on watercolor paper with VersaFine Onyx Black.  Dry the ink, then trim it with the smallest Banner Sentiment Trio die.

P1018580

Attach everything to an A-6 (4-½" x 6-¼") Cream Woodgrain Paper card - use foamdots for the greeting.

Add Winter Fantasy Fairy Gemstones.  Cut an A-6-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Butterflies are great for any occasion.  Emboss, stencil and diecut them in coordinating colors - or a lively mix of inks and papers.

Thanks for visiting our blog.  Have a great weekend!Jeansignature-3

Measure the die cut and then trim a rectangle out of black paper from the Rainbow Reflections Mirror paper pad.  Adhere the black mirror rectangle at a slight angle behind the watercolor butterfly rectangle.

Ocean Themed Thank You Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone.  I have a card combining the foil plates with the nautical dies to create an ocean themed thank you card.  I am using some older dies with the newer dies.

14F9C20A-1FD3-4B7A-A368-87FE5A752345_1_201_a

Use one of the 3 color combos from the Ocean Blue paper pad.  The lightest color is used as the foreground waves and the darkest color is the background waves.  Die cut with the Big Splash Board die, making the darker color blue longer to show behind the lighter waves.  Trim down to 4'x51/4" in length.  For the hight I just eyeballed it.  Marking the back and trimming it down. Adhere the 2 die cuts together with foam tape to give dimension.  The clear Fairy Drops are added to the holes in varying sizes to add the effect of water droplets.

B916CBD2-9F09-4BBD-8575-0797C127899D

I used the medium color blue from the Ocean Blue paper pad as the background and hot foiled gold with the Sunburst hot foil plate in the upper left side.  Then trim down the paper to 4"x5 1/4" cutting from the side the Sunburst is on.  Adhere onto a A2 white card.

CA82D155-1AD8-4B90-8B51-30F9122C568C

Hot foil gold on heavy white card stock using the Posh Thank You hot foil plate and die cut with the matching die.  Adhere in the center of the Sunburst.

Die cut the largest Marina Sailboat from white and gold paper from the Rainbow Reflections Mirror pad.

C5647457-1C8F-4C28-9FC8-78703963C5E1

Add the waves die cuts to the bottom of the card with foam tape.  Then adhere the gold sail boat and the white sails to the bottom right hand side of the card.  This card design can be easily changed up by using different color combos from any of the paper pads and changing the hot foiled sentiment.  My son liked this card so much they asked for a birthday version to give to their friend.  I used the Fresh Aqua paper pad and the Birthday Wishes Hot Foil plate in that version.

Glossy Glittered Greetings by Jean Okimoto

P1018333

Here's a quick and easy way to add gloss+glitter - and attach - delicate diecuts.  We'll even create extra greetings for another card because we're using just the Twiggy Thank You offcuts here.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with simple summer slimline for you.

Cut Twiggy Thank You on white cardstock.  Save the tall triangle in the A and the oval in the O.  Trim the greeting with the second-largest Wrapped Stitched Slim Rectangles die.

Cut a 5-½ " x 3" piece of smooth white cardstock.  Ink it with loose, overlapping layers of distress oxides.  Picked raspberry and abandoned coral were used here.  Dry the inks.  Cover the inked cardstock with Scor-tape (save the tape liner), then trim it  slightly larger than the greeting. Attach it behind the greeting.  Attach the saved pieces inside the A and O -  then brush Imagine Iridescent Glitter onto the exposed adhesive in the cutouts.  Tap the excess off the greeting, then heat-set it.

It'll be a bright, glossy, glittered greeting - and it's securely and completely attached!

Cut the small Ava Butterfly from the pink Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad sheet.  Cut several of the Intricate Mini Butterflies from the pink and coral sheets in the Vintage Pastel Mirror pad.

P1018347

Attach the diecuts to a white slimline card (3-⅝ x 8-½") - use foamdots for the big pink butterfly.

Add the copper-colored Autumn Fairy Jewels.

There it is...glittered, glossy, ready to be shared!

Thanks for visiting our blog - see you next week!

by Angie Cimbalo

7.30 1

Hello and welcome, it's Angie here today with Hello card made with the new "Sweet Poppy Stem" dies released this past May.  Here's a closer look at my card:

7.30 2

Here's how I made my card:

1)  I die cut the Sweet Poppy Stem dies and colored them with Zig Clean Color markers

2)  I took a piece of plaid paper from the Spring Slim paper pad and cut it to mini slimline size 3" by 6".

3)  I added flower after putting it together and added a few "Lavender Bouquet" dies cut from black in the bottom left corner.

4)  The sentiment is from Birch Press Design's Crystal Lingo stamp and die set and heat embossed in white on black card stock.

Here's one last look:

7.30 3

I hope you like my card for today!  I had so much fun creating it!  Be sure to check out all the new Memory Box goodies on their website HERE.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Lavender Bouquet Birthday
by Trina Pham

6614FA46-8408-461D-97BD-6A6B5E8A7543

Hello everyone.  I have a CAS (clean and simple) mini slimline birthday card to share today featuring the Lavender Bouquet dies from the 2022 May release.

Started by die cutting the lavender flowers from scraps of Bristol paper.  Using a foam blending tool, added Shaded Lilac distress oxide ink (DOx) to the flower sections.  Used the direct-to-paper method to add Shabby Shutters distress ink (DI) to the stems.  A dark purple Tombow alcohol marker was then used to give it some texture and dimension.  Created the vase by die cutting from alcohol marker friendly paper using a Nested Globes die then trimming off the rounded end to get a flat edge.  Added shading to it with Copic Sketch markers C1, C0 and C00.

53F85A94-319A-4349-B0E7-B828BFFEB1CD

The white card base and the background panel were trimmed to 3.25”x6.25” from heavy weight white cardstock next.  On the panel, stamped the sentiment from Poppy Stamps Birthday Blowout with Shaded Lilac DOx ink and heat embossed with clear glitter embossing powder.  Masked off the left side and bottom, then ink blended Blueprint Sketch DI.  Splattered with white and black gouache paint for some texture.  Assembled to finish.

That does it from me.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful day.
