Paper Strips Christmas Cards
by Anne Thompson

What to do with those extra Memory Box paper scraps or the one or two pieces left from a 6X6 paper pad?

IMG_3981-ink

To make these two cards I started with my Memory Box papers scrap box and pulled out all the red plaid pieces and the few loose sheets from various 6X6 paper pads and cut them into strips of random widths.

IMG_3968-ink

Then I started gluing them onto the front of a white notecard on a bit of a slant, leaving just a narrow space between each paper strip and letting the strips go out over the edge of the card.
IMG_3968-ink

Once I had all of the strips in place I trimmed off the bits that were hanging over the edge.
IMG_3968-ink

What to add to the front on top of this background?  I knew I needed something rather large but simple, so for both cards I cut the background for the CELESTE SNOWFLAKE 94697 from white cardstock.  For one card I added a plaid circle cut with one of the dies from the CIRCLE BASICS SET 30087 under the snowflake and oriented the card so the fold was at the top.  I cut the MERRY CHRISTMAS CURLED SCRIPT 94682 from red mirror paper and added that to the center of the snowflake and dotted the i with a Christmas red jewel.

IMG_3979 (1)

For the second card I stamped "Be Jolly" from the SWEET CHRISTMAS CLEAR STAMP SET CL5283 in the center of the snowflake using VersaFine Clair Tulip Red ink.

IMG_3976-ink

Then I made two more cards with green plaid paper strips.  This time I used the background for the GLORIETTE SNOWFLAKE COLLAGE 94696 cut from white cardstock, stamped with the sentiment "Wishing you a Christmas filled with Joy" in VersaFine Clair Shady Lane green ink from the SWEET CHRISTMAS CLEAR STAMP SET CL5283.  I  added the GENTLE PINE NEEDLE SPRIG 94597 (Holiday 2021) cut with green cardstocks from the LUSH GREEN COLLECTION SP1003 and finished these cards with red Christmas Fairy Dewdrops or white Christmas Fairy Crystals.

I have quite a few plaid strips left and will make several more cards like these.  With December right around the corner I've got quite a few more cards to make as well as gift tags.  It's going to be a busy week in my craft room!

Happy crafting!

Little Bundled Snowman
by Trina Pham

Hello everyone.  Continuing with my Christmas cards I have a sweet Christmas card to share today featuring a few products from the 2022 Christmas release.

Started with the background and did layered masking.  Using the single snowflake die from the Frilling Snowflake Ornament die set, a bunch of snowflakes were die cut from waterproof masking paper.  Placed a few onto the smooth side of Memory Box watercolor paper and did an ombré watercolor wash using a flat brush and Charted Mariner and Salvaged Patina distress inks (DI).

4C0625B9-7192-492E-A6F0-73310EFBFAB8

Dried the panel with the heat tool then repeated the process two more times, adding more snowflake masks each time.  This was the result after the third time with masks still in place.

08EC1A2A-A6F9-4F21-AA5C-9F03DF816A82

Removed the masks and you can see the color variation in the snowflakes from the different layers of masking.  You will also notice watercolors seeped underneath some of them.

A3F8B934-2863-422A-A6C2-CBD0F028415D

To fix the three initial ones that should have been the color of the watercolor paper, die cut three snowflakes from white and cover them up.  Or you could skip the first step and start the masking after the first watercolor wash and die cut the white snowflakes at the end.

5D5FA5AD-65E7-469D-AD01-112523227EB6

For snow, splattered with diluted white gouache paint.  Allow to dry then trimmed the panel to 1/8” smaller than a regular A2 size card.

617CEFE7-D04D-44F7-B44E-A8672FD35A82

The Little Bundled Snowman was die cut from alcohol marker friendly cardstock and the layers were colored with Copic Sketch markers.  Die cut the sentiment from black cardstock and hand cut a snowbank from Bristol paper.  Assembled the card onto a white card base, then spritz with a shimmer spray for some sparkle to finish.

That does it for my card.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful week.

A Fun Little Christmas Ornament
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_3200

Happy Friday everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful time celebrating Thanksgiving.  Now it's time to transition into the Christmas season!

Today I have a simple Christmas ornament for you to create.

I started by die cutting a 3.5" circle from plaid paper and set it into a 3" wooden embroidery hoop.  I centered the die cut circle over the smaller piece of the embroidery hoop.  I gently folded the paper over the hoop.  Next, I placed the larger hoop on top of the paper.

IMG_3203

I die cut the saying from white foil paper and glued it to the center of the plaid paper.

Next, I die cut the Pine Needle Frame from white cardstock and cut the pine boughs from the frame.  I used a blending brush and Peeled Paint Distress Oxide Ink to add a little color to the pine die cuts.

I used liquid glue to adhere them to the embroidery hoop.

IMG_3204

To finish the ornament I added some Christmas Fairy Crystals to the ornament.  I tied a piece of twine thru the top of the hoop to hang the ornament.

That's it for today!  Have a great weekend!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating today!  We are truly grateful and appreciate your support of Memory Box, Poppystamps and Birch Press Design throughout the years.  Hope we've inspired and encouraged you to share your creativity on your projects.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a fall slimline for you.

Paint watercolor paper with watery, layered inks in shades of pink, orange, yellow and green.  Spritz it with Imagine's Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz.  Set it aside to dry.

Cut cream cardstock with the 2-¼" x 7-⅛" Wrapped Stitched Slim Rectangles die.

Cut kraft cardstock with the Birch Tree Trunks die set.  Save the other trees for another project.

Stamp the greeting - from the Sweet Christmas Clear Stamps Set - with Lightning Black Brilliance.

Add gold gemstones from the Autumn Fairy Crystals set.  Cut a slimline-sized rectangle of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

This basic design works for other seasons - and reasons - too.  Switch to shades of green for a leafy spring card.  Add butterfiles and/or tiny blossoms for a summer card.  Or snowflakes with a snowman or sled for the holidays!

Thanks for visiting the blog!  Keep warm - and have a great weekend too...

Snowflake Gift Tags
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone.  I just love the snowflakes and pastel colors this season.  I cannot stay away from it with all the matching papers and beautiful dies.  Today I have a snowflake gift tag design that is easily repeatable for mass production of tags.  The Delicate Pastel Glitter paper and Vintage Pastel Mirror paper match along with the pastel jewels making it easy to create.

208C1736-1E71-43FD-B329-EC0C6EFAB442_1_201_a

Tag base:

Die cut white card stock with the 2nd largest Nested Globes set.  Die cut the next smaller size from a light colored plaid design from the Jolly Christmas papers.  Adhere the 2 together and punch a hole in the top center.

3AD2BC9C-F82A-494B-819C-46F06CE2479D

Snowflakes:

Choose 3 different colors that match from the Pastel Glitter paper and Vintage Pastel Mirror paper. Die cut 1 set of the Starburst Snowflake Discs and 2 set Feathery Snowflake Discs from each paper.  Make sure to use a cutting plate a the papers are thick and the dies intricate. Discard the little cut outs as it will be easier to use Fairy Jewels to fill in.  Take the inter snowflakes out and pop them in the matching color of the different type of paper.

31B773F5-9FDF-4E7A-9B63-ADDF5D43E6F9

Sentiment:

Stamp "Holiday Greetings" from the Festive Christmas Greetings set on white card stock.  I used a stamp platform and a smaller piece of paper that I can move every 1/2 to stamp several sentiments in a row.  Die cut each sentiment using the smallest die from the Slim Basic Rectangles Layers set.  Trim off the one end to decided length with scissors.

A7B8E07B-0022-4340-BD9C-98E8F4A8891D

Assembly:

Adhere the snowflakes in the 3 different sized onto the tags.  Add matching Pastel Fairy Jewels around the cut out to hide the plaid paper.  If you don't have the Fairy Jewels the Fairy Sugar glue also works!  I did run out of Fairy Jewels and needed to color the clear with an alcohol marker.  Add the sentiment to the right side of the tag.  Add some matching twine through the hole to adhere to the present.  You can add your message to the back of the tag.

Heartfelt Holiday Greetings by Jean Okimoto

P1021039

Glittered cardstock and plush felt create warm, sparkly winter accessories for the
Tall Bundled Snowman.  Add a greeting from the Sweet Christmas Clear Stamps and your card is ready to go!  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a  basic holiday design you can personalize with your favorite colors and 6x6 prints.

Cut the small and medium Tall Bundled Snowman shapes.  Attach scraps of black cardstock behind the eyes and buttons.  Cut the carrot nose and twiggy arms from orange cardstock.  Color the arms with abrown marker.  Attach the nose and arms to the small snowman.  Layer the small snowman over the medium-sized diecut for dimension.

P1021052

Cut the hat and scarf from the turquoise Twinkling Jewel Glitter Pad 6x6.  Attach adhesive label paper (or a sticker sheet) to turquoise felt and diecut the scarf and hat again.  The label paper stabilizes the felt and keeps adhesives from saturating the fabric.  Assemble the hat and scarf.  Save the extra pieces for another project.

Cut the heart - from the Heart Streamer Globe set - from a red 6x6 in the Festive Glitter Pad.

Stamp the greeting from the Sweet Christmas Clear Stamp Set - on a light green 6x6 Lush Green Collection 6x6 with Green Oasis VersaFine Clair.  Dry the ink, then diecut the greeting with the 2-¼" x 1-⅛" Rectangle Basics die.

Cut the Garland 6x6 print with the largest Rectangle Basics die.  Attach the rectangle to a white side-folded A2 card.

P1021043 2

Attach the diecuts to the background - use foamdots for the greeting.  Add pale turquoise Christmas Fairy Crystals.  Cut an A2-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Thanks for stopping by.  Happy Thanksgiving if you're celebrating on Thursday!

My Winter Solstice/Greetings from Maine Card
by Anne Thompson

I designed a card for today that will most likely be the one that I use to send a Winter Solstice message or greetings from Maine this holiday season.  As I write this post, this card very much looks like the view from my window--a dark evening sky, silhouettes of bare trees among the pines, and a few scattered snow flurries.

IMG_3966-ink

  • This is a card of many layers.  I started with a white A2 notecard and covered the front with a brown/blue plaid from WOODSY PLAID PP1018.
  • For the next layer I added the BIRCH TREE TRUNKS 94701 cut from a light brown Woodsy Plaid paper.

IMG_3957-ink

IMG_3960-ink

IMG_3963-ink

Because I plan to make a bunch of these cards I will set up an assembly line process, die cutting multiples for each step.  If everything goes according to plan they'll be ready to be sent out in time to celebrate the Winter Solstice.  If not--they'll be Happy New Year greetings!

Happy Crafting!

Merry and Bright Mini Slimline
by Angie Cimbalo

Hello and welcome! It's Angie here today with this mini slimline holiday card featuring the new "Watercolor Poinsettia Floral die" with the previously released "Slimline Pinpoint Burst Plate" craft die 94557

After using the pinpoint die on white card, I took a red ink pad and put it directly onto the card stock and rubbed it all over - this made it look like it was red card stock with white pinpoint dots.  Here's a closer look at that part and of the actual poinsettia die.  It's a layering die with lots of pieces to help your flower look very realistic.  I used pink, yellow and green glitter paper from "Festive Glitter Pad" GP1006 and the  red "Rainbow Reflections Mirror Pad" FP1003.

The strip under the sentiment is actually cut with one of the dies from "Wood Grain Planks" craft die 94565.   The sentiment "Merry and Bright" is from the newly released "Sweet Christmas" clear stamp set CL5283.  I heat embossed it on black card stock and then cut it into a square then rounded the corners.

Here's one last look at my card:

I hope you like my card for today!  Be sure to check out all the amazing dies, paper, and stamps from Memory Box!

Merry Christmas Trio
by Trina Pham

9102579F-F114-489C-B762-16DA4EA1B3C4

Hello everyone.  Christmas is just a little over a month away!  With that said, I am sharing an easy way to create a set of CAS (clean and simple) Christmas cards using products from the 2022 Christmas collection.

The process was the same for all three cards.  Started by ink smooshing a piece of mixed media paper with diluted Peacock Feathers and Wilted Violet distress inks.  Die cut all images from this piece then added clear shimmer to them for some sparkle.  Die cut the images twice from thick white paper to stack for dimension.  Die cut the sentiment from Vintage Pastel Mirror paper and stacked on top of two white ones for dimension.  Assembled so onto white woodgrain paper to finish.

DB0147A8-313D-4951-B63E-7FC5B2245D3F

On this first card and just like the large skates in my last post, the Classic Pair of Skates were laced with white baker’s twine.  The heels were die cut from silver metallic shimmer paper and the blades from silver mirror paper.

B74639DC-72CF-475A-B980-9C9BB83AF950

The next card features the Alpine Snowflakes.

6259FE30-2955-43DB-9D28-9DB112F34348

And last but not least, the third card features the Little Trees die.  These are adorable, don’t you think?

And that’s it for my set of cards.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful weekend.

Merry Card
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_3165 (1)

Hello everyone!  Today I have a clean and simple Christmas card for you.

I began by die cutting the Pine Needle Frame from green cardstock.  Next I cut apart the pine boughs from the frame and used green ink to darken the die cuts.

The Dreamy Bow was die cut from red cardstock and inked with red ink.

I stamped my sentiment on a white cardstock panel using black pigment ink and clear heat embossed the image.

IMG_3167

Next, I glued the greens to the white cardstock panel and spattered it with white ink.

I assembled the bow and used foam tape to adhere it to the card, and then used foam tape to glue the card front to a white card base.

IMG_3166 (1)

To finish the card, I added some red fairy jewels to the pine bough.

That's it for today!  Have a great weekend!
