The Serene Birds are back this week and they've flown over to perch on Old Lamp Posts that have been decorated with Curled Holly Branches for three more holiday cards!
Let's look at one of the cards close up since all three are made following the same steps to create the design.
- I started with a blank white notecard and added a piece of plaid paper to cover the front, 5.5X4.25.
- I die cut the lamp and post pieces from a solid color cardstock that coordinates with the plaid paper.
- I die cut just the lamp die again, this time from a light yellow cardstock and saved the center strips to simulate light from the lamp.
- To assemble the lamp and post, I started with the post and put a strip of Scor-Tape on the back and added the cross piece before adhering both to the notecard. I placed the bottom of the post on the lower edge of the card and used the plaid to help make sure the post was straight.
- I then put Scor-Tape on the back of the lamp outline and placed the yellow pieces against the exposed tape before peeling off the backing and adding the lamp atop the post.
- Using more Scor-Tape I attached the cap on top of the lamp.
- Next I die cut three of the Curled Holly Branch from another coordinating plaid, stuck them together with Glue-Dots and used another Glue-Dot to place the bundle on the cap at the top of the lamp.
- I then die cut the Serene Bird body from solid cardstock and its wing from a plaid scrap and used a Glue-Dot to put the wing on the bird and used foam dots to place the bird on the post cross-piece.
- For the final touch I added Fairy Jewels to some of the berries on the holly branches.
Cards Two and Three
Materials Used
So where is the JOY AND CHEER sentiment? On the inside of each card on the strip of paper left from cutting the paper I needed for the card front!
Hmmm...I wonder where the birds will perch next Monday???
Happy Crafting!
Lovely work - fan of plaid!
