Masculine Birthday Cards
by Sara Cook

Hello everyone.  I have a few family birthdays coming up and need to make some masculine cards.  I loved the background in my last post so I repeated it this week but changed up the color to be more bold.  After I made the first card I had to make another in blue.  Hope you enjoy this technique.

Background panel:

Trim a heavy white card stock to A4 size.  Stamp with clear embossing ink and heat emboss with Distress Embossing Glaze Crackling Campfire.  Ink blend from lighter to darker around the outside with with Distress Oxide Inks, Crackling Campfire, Fire Brick and Age Mahogany.

Sentiment:

Stamp Sending Birthday Wishes from the Signature Greetings stamp set on dark red card stock from Berry Red paper pack with black ink.  Heat emboss with clear embossing powder.  Die cut the sentiment with the matching die.

Balloons:

Die cut the Balloon Bunch from a dark red card stock from Berry Red paper pack.  Ink blend the outline die cut with Age Mahogany.

Assembly:

Adhere the background panel to a A4 card base.  Carefully glue the Balloon Bunch outline die cut to the upper center of the panel.  Try not to get glue on the Oxide Ink, otherwise it will change colors.  Glue in the rest of the Balloon Bunch pieces into the outline die cut.  Add Glossy Accents to the Bolloon Bunch.  Let dry for several hours.  Adhere the sentiment with foam squares.

Bonus Card:

For the second card I used Speckled Egg for Distress Embossing Glaze.  I used Speckled Egg and Peacock Distress Oxide Ink for the ink blending.  I did spray the background with bleach water to add a speckle effect.  I also trimmed down the panel by 1/4" to leave a white boarder.  The Balloon Bunch is die cut from matching paper from the Fresh Aqua paper pack.

Royal Treatment Slimline Card
by Angie Cimbalo

Main WM

Hello and welcome!  I have a fun birthday slimline card today for you made with the newly released "Majestic Achievements" stamp and die set from Memory Box.  Here's a closer look:

Close WM

I inked the top portion of the slimline card with blue and aqua Distress Inks and the bottom with tan and pink inks with finger daubers.  I stamped the images, heat embossed them and colored them with markers, die cut them with the coordinating dies,  then added some with glue and some with foam tape.  I decided to only use 3 colors of markers for the coloring.  The sentiments are from the same stamp/die set which is also linked below.

Double-Collage a Halloween Scene by Jean Okimoto

Today's Halloween project somehow ended up with everything on one card.  Like two collages, domes, 3 colors of glitter, ghosts and pumpkins and an underwater castle - or an overgrown royal garden.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here on a cold, rainy weekend that's perfect for indoor cardmaking.

MemoryBoxFantasyCastleCollage, MemoryBoxKelpCollage, MemoryBoxNestedGlobes, MemoryBoxHauntedEntranceDomeLayer, MemoryBoxFrostedGlitterPad, MemoryBoxWoodgrainCardstock, MemoryBoxEarthNeutral6x6Pack, MemoryBoxSunnyOrange6x6Pack, MemoryBoxWoodgrainPaperPack, CollageCards, HalloweenDiecuts, DIYHalloweenCards, DiecutCards, GlitterDiecuts, MemoryBoxCo, MemoryBoxDiecuts, JeanOkimoto, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, StampsAndMemories

Cut the largest Nested Globe from black cardstock and the dark orange 6x6 in the Sunny Orange Collection.  Cut the black globe with Kelp Collage.  Remove the small kelp strand on the right side.   Cut the extra seaweed strands from black cardstock too.

Cut Fantasy Castle Collage from the light gray 6x6 in the Earth Neutral Collection.  Cut the moat (or wall) too.  Attach strips of ¼" lined doublestick tape behind the window cutouts.  It takes a few minutes now, but it'll be easier to attach the yellow diecuts for the lights later.  Promise!

The little ghosts and pumpkins are from the Haunted Entrance Dome Layer set.  Cut them from the white and orange 6x6 sheets in the Frosted Glitter Pad.  Cut an extra set of ghosts from black cardstock and attach them behind the white ghosts - offset to add dimension and a layer of black behind their mouths.

MemoryBoxFantasyCastleCollage, MemoryBoxKelpCollage, MemoryBoxNestedGlobes, MemoryBoxHauntedEntranceDomeLayer, MemoryBoxFrostedGlitterPad, MemoryBoxWoodgrainCardstock, MemoryBoxEarthNeutral6x6Pack, MemoryBoxSunnyOrange6x6Pack, MemoryBoxWoodgrainPaperPack, CollageCards, HalloweenDiecuts, DIYHalloweenCards, DiecutCards, GlitterDiecuts, MemoryBoxCo, MemoryBoxDiecuts, JeanOkimoto, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, StampsAndMemories

Attach the diecuts to a side-folded 5-⅜" square card of Kraft Woodgrain Cardstock.

Cut the windows from the yellow 6x6 in the Frosted Glitter Pad and just press them onto the tape in the cutouts.  It's a lot easier than gluing 20 tiny pieces.

Mix, match and layer the different designs from the Memory Box collage collection. Try different combinations of these dies and create unique cards for holidays, celebrations and everyday greetings.

Thanks for visiting - see you next week!

Just a Note
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_3646

Hello everyone!  As we're heading into the fall season, I thought this card would be ideal for any occasion.

To begin, I sponged watercolor paper with Distress Ink and misted it with water.

IMG_3644

When it was dry, I spattered it with black ink and adhered it to a black cardstock mat.  I used foam tape to glue it to a white card base.

Next, I die cut the wreath 3 times from brown cardstock.  One of the die cuts I cut up to make the wreath fuller.

IMG_3643

I glued one wreath die cut to my card and then adhered the cut pieces to fill in.  Next, I glued the other die cut to the top of the wreath.

IMG_3645

I die cut the shadow from Just a Note from white cardstock and the words from black cardstock.  I glued the words to the shadow die cut and adhered it to the center of the wreath.

IMG_3647

To finish the card, I added some orange and yellow bright jewels to the wreath.

That's it for today's card!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Flowering Cactus Birthday
by Trina Pham

Hello everyone.  Today I am sharing an easy and fun birthday card made with the Flowering Cactus stamp and die set from the Summer Daydreams collection.

Started by stamping the smaller cactus image from the set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Xpress It cardstock.  Colored it with Copic markers, then die cut out with the matching die.  Created the planter by partial die cutting Bristol paper with the Nested Globe die and coloring it in with Copic markers.

6B76CDA7-F3E2-4F07-A5BE-C157BFE89595

Next, die cut the Lattice Plate from Poppy Stamps three times from Bristol paper and stacked them for dimension.  The sentiment was white heat embossed on black cardstock, then die cut out with its coordinating die.  Before assembling the card, Salvaged Patina distress ink was applied to the upper left corner of a white A2 size card base.  Was ready to call it done, but then decided to turn it into a faux shaker and randomly add clear jewels within the sunken diamond areas.  Clear shimmer added to the pink flowers finished off the card.

And that’s it.  Thank you for joining me.  Have a wonderful weekend

Celebrate a royal Halloween at the Imperial Castle with ghosts and a bat borrowed from the Haunted Entrance Dome Layer set.  The spooked scene is diecut from a dark floral 6x6 from the Garland collection.

Hi, Jean Okimoto here with mix of old and new for fall.  Cut the Garland 6x6 floral print with the second-largest Nested Globes die.  Cut it with the Imperial Castle Collage.

Attach pieces of lined ¼" doublestick tape behind the windows -  Brush ultrafine gold glitter onto the tape through the window cutouts.  The glitter adds a warm glow behind the windows - like a vintage incandescent 60-watt bulb.  Things I grew up with are now vintage artifacts!

Attach the diecut to a Persimmon Notecard - don't use any adhesive behind the posts section on the tallest tower.

Cut the ghosts - from the Haunted Entrance Dome Layer set - from heavy white cardstock, and again from black cardstock.  Attach the black diecuts behind the white pieces, slightly offset for dimension.  Attach the ghosts to the card.

Cut yellow glittered cardstock from the Frosted Glitter Pad with the ½" Circle Basics die. Cut the bat - from the Haunted Entrance Dome Layer set - from the Frosted black glittered 6x6. Punch ¼" circles of the black glittered cardstock.

The Memory Box collage dies offer a lot of design options and are great with the 6x6 prints too.  Use them as collaging layers - or use the designs as freestanding diecuts.  Many of the larger offcut pieces are great for reverse-images too.

Thanks for visiting...see you again this weekend!

Wreath Birthday Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone.  It is finally raining in the northwest and it just puts me in the card making mood.  I have a wreath birthday card with a lot of dimension and depth, with a little sparkle.  I have been using my mixed media supplies more and more.  In today's card  I'm using my sprays and embossing powder in this card.

C6FB2822-3E6D-4133-B722-9B45C983EF3E_1_201_a

Background Panel:

Create your own pattern paper with the Signature Stamp stamp set is easy with some embossing powder and ink. Cut heavy white card stock to 4 1/8" square.  Stamp Happy Birthday from the Signature Greetings stamp set with embossing ink all over the background.  I used a light golden embossing powder and heat set.  After cooled, ink blend from the sides half way in with Distress Oxide ink Antique Linen.  Leaving the center white.

Sentiment:

Gold heat emboss twice the Sending Happy Birthday from the Signature Greetings stamp set.  Making sure to let cool in-between embossing.  Die cut with matching die.

Wreath Elements:

Die cut the Eucalyptus Collage, Delicate Wreath and the flowers and birds die from the Willow Globe from heavy white card stock least 3 times.  Die cut the flowers at least 3 more times.  I used Lindys Spray inks to color my dies cuts using pink and golden sprays for flowers and 2 wreaths.  For the eucalyptus leaves and 1 wreath I used Lindys Magical powder Shabby Turbine Teal. Leave the birds white.  Using shaping tools I shaped the flowers and leaves while still slightly damp.

Assembly:

Create a top folding 4 1/4" square card base from heavy white card stock.  Add foam tape to the back ground panel and center it on the card base.  Layer the 3 wreath die cuts and adhere down. Adhere in the eucalyptus leaves, birds, and flowers around the wreath.  Add light pink and green Fair Jewlels to the center of the flowers and randomly around the wreath.  Add foam dots to the back of the sentiment and adhere it to the center of the wreath.

Two Very Different "You Anchor Me" Cards for Guys
by Anne Thompson

I knew that I wanted to use the "You Anchor Me" clear stamps and dies set this week to create some cards for guys that could be used for a variety of occasions.  This is the first card I made:

IMG_3294-ink

  • I started with a white notecard and covered the front with brown dot paper from the Garland Stripes and Dots paper pad PP1011.
  • I used VersaMark ink to stamp the anchor from the You Anchor Me stamps and dies set CL5269D on white cardstock, embossed it with Detail Gold embossing powder, and cut it out with the corresponding die.
  • I used a scrap of the dot paper and stamped the sentiment "knowing you are always there anchors me" on the stripe side of that paper with VersaMark ink and embossed it in gold, trimmed it down and mounted it on a scrap of dark brown cardstock from the Earth Neutral Collection SP1009.
  • I cut the swirly rope from the End of My Rope dies set 94546 from more of the dark brown cardstock.
  • To complete the card, I adhered the sentiment block in the upper righthand corner and then threaded the rope through the hole in the anchor and secured both to the card front using glue dots.

For the second card, I wanted to play with the idea of stripes which is this month's blog challenge.  I used glitter paper to cut out lots of swirly ropes and those became my stripes.

IMG_3296-ink

  • I had one piece of turquoise plaid paper left from the Dashing Holiday paper pad PP1001 which I used to cover the front of a white notecard.
  • I used five of the swirly ropes as stripes across the front of the notecard.
  • I added three Marina Sailboats 94575 cut from white and turquoise cardstock scraps that I backed first with Scor-Tape.
  • Inside I added another rope, a silver-embossed anchor, and the sentiment "drop Anchor where your heart is".

IMG_3297-ink

These are very versatile stamps and dies that can be combined in any number of ways.

Royal Treatment
by Laura Fulcher

IMG_3300

Greetings friends. I hope all have crafty plans this weekend!

I wanted to play with the the new castle stamp. I have seen it used with so many color palettes and even used as a spooky Halloween castle. I wanted to go for a fairytale look for my card. I started by stamping my castle onto watercolor paper using Black Versafine ink. Once it dried (it takes a while), I colored it with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and a waterbrush.

I stamped the clouds directly on the watercolor paper with the castle, but I diecut the crown and parchment piece to layer on the card. To make the crown pop a bit more, I painted it with gold metallic paint and added some jewels to give it some glitter.

Here is a close up:

Have a fantastic weekend!
