Balloon Bunch Background
by Trina Pham

Hello everyone.  I needed to build up my birthday card stash, and the Balloon Bunch die from the Summer Daydreams collection fit the bill! 😉  I just stretched it to create a balloon background.

A bunch (pun intended 😁) of the balloons were die cut out from masking paper.  Modified them by cutting away different areas to get the look I wanted, then adhered them to a Bristol panel.

Using blender brushes next, ink blended Salvaged Patina, Mermaid Lagoon, Blueprint Sketch and Chipped Sapphire distress inks (DI) for an ombré look.   Spritz with water and pat with a paper towel.  I find this not only gives texture, but helps the inks to blend better as well.

Splattered the entire panel with water and white gouache paint before removing the balloon masks revealing this…

YAY was die cut with the Twiggy Thank You die three times from black cardstock and stacked for dimension.   I could have used the Twiggy Alphabet dies, but I felt the larger size of the Twiggy Thank You worked better for my card.

The sentiment from Birthday Rose Corner stamp set was white heat embossed on black cardstock and trimmed into a strip.  Some clear drops were added to finish.

And since the supplies were out, I made a second card in rainbow colors to add to my stash!

And that does it for me today.  Thank you for joining me.  Have a wonderful day.

What a fun idea to cut all the balloons out of the masking paper Trina. Fabulous blending and what a creative and fun effect. Thank you for the inspiration x.

great use of the die cut to make a stencil. Love the card :)

These are fantastic, Trina! I love them!

Wow! Brilliant! You have always very interesting ideas! Thanks so much for sharing! Love the blues you blended and such fun results! I have to try using my dies!

This is so creative and a great way to stretch the balloon die to create a stencil for your beautifully blended colours. As always, I learn something new from you, Trina! Thank you!

Two wonderful birthday cards, Trina! I'm always in awe of your ink blending and using the masking paper on the background is so creative and fun!

You are sooooo creative, Trina - what a clever use of the die to make a mask! Just love your balloon backgrounds and jumbo sentiments!
