Ahoy Matey by Trina Pham
Hello everyone. Have you played along in this month’s Ahoy There Nautical challenge yet? As you can see, that was the inspiration for my mini slimline card today.
I find mini slimline cards can range in size anywhere from 3”x6” to 3.5”x6.5”, depending on who you ask. 😂 I have mini slimline envelopes that measure 3.5”x6.5”, so to ensure my card fits, my mini slimline cards are either 3”x6” for bulky cards or 3.25”x6.25” for flat cards. For here, I trimmed a piece of mixed media paper to 3.25”x6.25”. Using blender brushes, ink blended Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean distress inks (DI) for the water and a gradient of brown dye inks for the sand. Spritz with water and blot off with a paper towel to give it some texture. For even more texture on the sand, splattered with diluted Black Soot DI. Used a sponge dauber and dabbed white gouache paint along the shoreline where the water and sand meet. Set aside to dry.
The castle from the new Majestic Achievements stamp set was then stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa dye ink onto the lightest color paper from the Earth Neutral paper pack. Colored it with Copic markers to transform it into a sandcastle, then fussy cut it out. Used a brown marker to color the edges to cover the white and give it a finished look. The sailboat was die cut twice from Bristol paper and once from the Springtime Bouquet pattern paper and stacked for dimension. Black heat embossed the sentiment from the new Deep Blue Ocean stamp set onto Bristol paper then die cut out with the new Banner Sentiment die.
Trimmed off the left fishtail and drew in the “flag pole” with a black marker before assembling the card onto a white 3.25”x6.25” card base. Added waves with a white gel pen to finish.
You have till July 30, 11:59 pm EST, to enter the challenge. Thank you for joining me today. Enjoy your day.

Oh, what an amazing card dedicated to a boy !! Your sand looks very realistic, sprinkling it with dark ink is a unique and very good idea. The sea looks lovely and inviting and the sailboat is so cute with a colored sail. I also have to mention that your sandcastle is amazing in your coloring. Unique card, Trina!
