Slimline Octopus
by Laura Fulcher

Greetings friends. Today I want to share I made as part of a card challenge. The challenge was "Beatles Songs." Can you guess the name of the song I chose? The answer is at the end of this post.

To make the card, I started by cutting paper to make a slimline card. I really like the look of slimlines, and I like the fact that they don't cost any extra to mail.

I cut out the Bubble Coral Collage die from my white piece of cardstock. I then cut the Deepwater Collage die from green cardstock to layer behind the coral and cut out darker green pieces from the Kelp Collage to layer onto my underwater scene.

When I cut out the first two layers, this is what they looked like on top of each other:

I decided I wanted the bubbles to be blue, so I cut out strips of blue paper to glue behind the round openings:

I found that cutting out strips of paper to glue behind the circles worked much faster than cutting out little circles from the die that would fit into the openings.

For the sea background, I pulled out a watercolored blue sheet I had in my stockpile:

I had originally sprayed watercolor paper with distress sprays and then placed a stencil on top to transfer the pattern. However, it didn't work out as planned and you can only barely see the stencil pattern. The paper went into my scrap drawer and stayed there for a long time. I advise you to always keep your "mistakes." They may not have turned out like you wanted, but they might work for another project. I thought this piece worked well for an underwater card.

All that was left was to layer all the pieces of my card, add my sentiment and attach some Memory Box Fairy Drops to look like bubbles.

So, did you guess the Beatles song? It was "Octopus's Garden."
