Shell by the Sea Shore Card
by Sara Cook

Hello everyone. I have a sea shore inspired card using the new Under the Sea release dies. Perfect card to send to someone you have not talked to for awhile.

Emboss the Grand Tulip Shell outline die on cream card stock then use the base die to cut it out.  This will help in the coloring of the shell.  Die cut the out line out of the same cream card stock. Ink blend the shell and out line all over with Distress Oxide Antique Linen. Then ink blend Distress Oxide Tattered Rose all over the outline die cut and on the shell around the areas that were embossed with the outline. Add more ink in the smaller sections of the shell.  For the opening of the shell ink blend Distress Oxide Picked Raspberry at the top of the opening and blend down.  Glue the outline to the base shell.  To set the color and add a gloss to the shell apply a layer of Distress College Medium Matte and let dry.

Standing Birds

Use the Graceful Ocean Birds to die cut 2 birds out of 110lb card stock.  Color the feet and shade the underneath of the birds with Distress Oxide Antique Linen ink. Ccolor in the beaks with a yellow/orange watercolor marker.  For the eye use a fine tip black marker and add a dot.

Need 2 wood planks.  Check out my blog post on how to make wood planks (insert link).  Trim 2 pcs of mounting tape to 1/8' think and 1" tall and 1/4" think and 1/2" tall.  Peal off the backing and center the wood plank on the tape vertically.  Wrap the edges of the wood plank around to the back side.  Secure with glue, if needed.  Color any white showing with a alcohol based dark brown or black marker.  Color the bottom with the marker and blend in the color.

Die cut the smaller Cheerful Crab out of heavy red card stock.  Add 2 layers of Glossy Accents to the crab, drying in between each layer.

Rope Boarder:

Die cut and emboss the boarder die from the End of My Rope die set twice, 1 form cream card stock and 1 from dark brown card stock.  Glue cream card stock on top of the brown.  Ink blend Distress Antique Linen all over die cut.  Use the die as a stencil and putting it over the die cut and ink blend Distress Brushed Corduroy on the cut out areas.  Take the Brushed Corduroy and add a little to the sides of the boarder die cut.

Sandy Beach:

Use a tan colored card stock to make a 4 1/4'x5/12' panel.  Use a small fan brush to splattered ink on the bottom portion of the panel.  Use the following inks, IN THE FOLLOING ORDER, to create the beach, Distress Ink: Brushed Corduroy and Vintage Photo, Oxide Ink: Tattered Rose, Antique Linen and Picket Fence.

On 110lb white card stock, ink blend from one end to the other, wide wise, with Distress Oxide Ink Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers and Mermaid Lagoon.  Use a narrow blending brush to add waives out of Tumbled Glass and Picket Fence.  Let dry.  Stamp the Long Time No Sea with dark blue pigment ink from the Oceanside Typewriter Sentiments.  Tare from the front side of the paper 1/2" ~ 3/4" off the bottom to show the white card stock to make the look of water crashing on the beach.

Adhere the ocean/sky panel to the beach panel.  Adhere the pilings, cutting off any excess, and then set the feet of the standing birder into the pilings. Adhere all the other elements to the card.  I also added a Flying Gulls cut from white card stock in the upper sky area.  Adhere to a A2 size card.
