Pop Up Sea Scape Card
by Sara Cook

Wondering what your friend is up to?  How about creating a pop up card with a sea scape view to get back in touch with an old friend.

Card Layout:

Take heavy card stock, at least 110lb, and cut 2 panels to 5 1/2" x 6 1/4".  Score on the long side at 1/2" and 1" on both ends of the panels.  For all scores, fold the outer 1/2" score up and over and the inside 1" score inside.

Front Window:

Cut the blue/green stripped paper from the Garden Folly pack to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". Use the 4th largest die from the Nested Globes die set and die cut a winder in the middle of the paper.  Take 1 of the card panels and secure, with removable tape, the patterned paper to the middle of the card and align the Nested Glade die in the cut out.  Run through the die cutting machine.  Take the 3rd largest die from the Nested Globes die set and the 4th largest and tape together to create a window frame.  Die cut the frame from the white Woodgrain Paper.  Color the paper with Distress Ink Antique Linen and then lightly with Vintage phot.  Adhere the pattern paper to the panel and then the frame.

Sea Scape:

Embossing a light mid tone blue paper rom the Ocean Blue paper pack with Waves 3D embossing folder.  Take sand paper and lightly sand the top of the waves.  Lightly add Distress Picket Fence ink over the waves.  Blend lightly with foam pad.  Let dry.  Fussy cut around the waves about half way down.  Die cut the smallest post from Marina Sailboat dies.  The sails are from Fresh Aqua.  The base of the boat is from Kraft Woodgrain Paper (lightly add Distress Vintage Photo to enhance the wood grain).  the Pole is cut from silver card stock.   Die cut the Oceanside Lighthouse from white and dark blue from Ocean Blue paper.  Cut off the top of the Lighthouse under the railing and glue on the white die cut.  Die cut the Waves from white and same blue of the embossed waves and glue together.

Ink plend a white 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel with Distress Squeezed Lemonade from the bottom and Broken China from the top and lightly blend in the middle.

Stamp "water you up to?" from the Oceanside Typewriter Sentiment stamp set with a light blue ink on white card stock.  Trim down to the  1/4" tall.  Adhere under the window frame.

Flying birds:

Die cut the Flying Gulls birds out of white card stock.  Cut 2 strip of acetate to 4 1/2" x 1/4".  Adhere 1 bird to end of each strip.  Save 1 bird to adhere to the back panel.

Take the back scored and folder panel and adhere the sky panel in the center.  Adhere the 3D embossing waves at the bottom of the panel.  Adhere the lighthouse and wave to the right hand side, tucking it behind the waives.  Make sure you can see the lighthouse through the window.  Adhere the sails boat on top of the waves slightly off center to the left. Ahdere 1 bird in the sky.  Take the 2 bird acetate strips and adhere them with tap on the 1/2" score section of the back panel.  Add strong glue to the outer 1/2" score on both end and add the front panel on top creating a tab.

Pop Up:

Push the tab into the card and slide into an envelope.  When you pull the card out it will pop up.
