Have a whale of a time
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_2796

Hello everyone! Today I have a fun summer card featuring products from the new Under the Sea release. I love all the products from this release and can't wait to share some fun cards with you.

IMG_2744

I started by creating a background to go behind the shell die cut window on the front of my card. I applied distress oxide inks to my craft mat and spritzed it with water, then I dragged my watercolor paper through the ink. Next, I placed the inked background into the new 3D Waves embossing folder and ran it through the die cut machine.

IMG_2736

I added a little more interest to the background and used a blending brush to add a darker blue ink to the raised areas of the design. Next, I spattered the background with white ink.

IMG_2738

As I mentioned above, I die cut the Grand Scallop Shell in the center of piece of white cardstock. Next I glued the embossed paper onto the back of the die cut shell.  I adhered this to a gray cardstock mat, and used foam tape to adhere it to a white card base.

Next, I die cut the whales and kelp from watercolor paper and used distress inks to color them. I used foam tape and glue to adhere them to my card front and glued a piece of cheesecloth across the bottom of the shell.

IMG_2742

Next, I stamped and white heat embossed the sentiment on a strip of black cardstock and used foam tape to glue it to my card.

To finish the card, I added fairy drops to look like bubbles.

I hope you enjoyed today's card and have a great day!

Birthdays happen - and some of us need a slimline card wide enough to hold a lot of candles!  The new Jumbled Line Collage makes it easy to create 21 paper-pieced candles with bright blocks of cardstock from our 6x6 Collections.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a birthday design - including a greeting from the Poppystamps Birthday Blowout Clear Stamp Set.

Our new adhesive Fairy Jewels are available in brights, pastels and clear gems.  I could have used the yellow jewels from the Bright Jewels set, but I wanted to check if the Clear Jewels could be custom-colored with Sharpies.  I colored them with alternating layers of yellow and orange Sharpies and let them dry while I made the card.  They passed the Sharpie test!

Cut white cardstock with the largest Wrapped Stitched Slim Rectangles die.  Cut the rectangle with Jumbled Line Collage.

Cut cardstock from the Berry Red and Sunny Yellow Collections to color the candles - 2-¾" x 2" of the medium and dark pinks and 2-¾" x 1-⅝" of the yellow.  Tape them behind the collage.  Attach the rectangle to a white slimline card (3-⅝" x 8-⅝").

Cut Layered Daisies, Layered Fresh Flowers and Layered Cosmos from the same pinks and yellow - cut two of the cosmos.  Cut Vertical Lines from a green sheet in the Lush Green Collection.  Assemble the flowers and attach them to the card.

Stamp the Poppystamps Birthday Blowout greeting on a light orange sheet from the Sunny Orange Collection with Shady Lane VersaFine Clair.  Attach it with foamtape.

Attach the Fairy Jewels for the candle flames.  It's easy to remove jewels from the plastic sheet if you wiggle them gently with tweezers before lifting them from the sheet.

Place a layer of cardstock over the card front to protect it in the mail - it may require special handling and postage.

Hope your favorite storefront or online retailer has received the Under the Sea release so you can enjoy creating with it as much as we have!  Admire and be inspired by Dave's wonderful Idea Book.

Celebrate friendships with bright colors and brilliant Fairy Drops on a crisp white slimline card. There are so many ways to combine the versatile designs of our Under the Sea Collection on cards to celebrate, greet or just say hello.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a Bubble Coral Collage friendship card in very bright colors.

MemoryBoxBubbleCoralCollage, MemoryBoxSchoolOfFish, MemoryBoxOpenStudioWatercolorPaper, MemoryBoxWrappedStitchedSlimRectangles, MemoryBoxOpenStudioFairyDrops, MemoryBoxAllTheHappinessClearStampAndDieSet, MemoryBoxCards, Kaleidacolor, VersaFineClair, FishCards, FishDiecuts, CollageDiecuts, SlimlineCards, SlimlineDiecuts, JewelStickers, HandmadeFishCards, OceanCards, JeanOkimoto, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, StampsAndMemoriesHawaii

Let's start with the backdrop using the Blue Breeze Kaleidacolor inkpad.  My Kaleidacolors are probably older than you are...but they still create unique color-blended backgrounds. Place a large acrylic stamp block on a craft mat or double layer of papertowel.  Push the inkpad lever to move the colors together, then press the inks onto the block. Spray the smoother side of Open Studio Watercolor Paper with several spritzes of water to help blend the colors.

Lightly spritz the inks and let the colors blend for a few seconds.  Press the watercolor paper onto the inks  for a few seconds.  Carefully remove the paper and air-dry it so it's not drippy, then heat-set it.  Flick it with specks of Imagine Crafts Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz, let it air-dry for a few minutes, then heat-set it.

Cut white cardstock with the largest Wrapped Stitched Slim Rectangles die.  Cut it with the Bubble Coral Collage.  Stamp the greeting - from the All the Happiness Clear Stamp and Die Set - with Paradise VersaFine Clair.

Attach a portion of the watercolored paper behind the collage.  Attach the rectangle to a white slimline card (3-⅝ x 8-⅝").  Cut School of Fish from orange- and pink-inked white cardstock.  Attach the top 2 with foamtape. Add different sizes of  clear Fairy Drops.  Place a protective layer of heavy cardstock over the card front for mailing.  (This design requires special handling and postage - but a special friend deserves that extra effort!)

Take a few minutes to create a stash of ink-blended backgrounds for your cards. Use papers that are at least A2-sized - like the 4-½ x 5-¾" Open Studio Watercolor Paper - and select the perfect blend of colors for your projects.

Thinking of Fishes
by Michelle Bala

31

Hello there! Michelle here, sharing some Under The Sea fun! I started off by inking up some cardstock with distress oxide inks in shades peacock feathers, mermaid lagoon , and blueprint sketch. Than I used the new Waves 3D Embossing Folder to create the background. I trimmed the embossed background to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.
31

Next, I die cut the Coral and Kelp Ribbon Die, and School of Fish. I colored them up with Copic Markers.  I adhered the images to the background, propping some up with foam adhesive. I stamped the sentiment from the set, Big and Little Valentines Clear Stamp Set.

For a finishing touch, I added some Fairy Drops to act as bubbles.

Thanks for stopping by for a peek!

Wave-tossed Grand Spiral Shell
by Anne Thompson

This month's challenge is to use paint in some way and I just got a new box of Kuretake watercolors.  So...

IMG_3118-ink

I started with Memory Box watercolor paper, a cup of water, my favorite brushes, and the Kuretake watercolor paints.

IMG_3107-ink

I used the GRAND SPIRAL SHELL 94567 dies and cut the painted paper with the detailed shell design.  I then looked through the cardstock papers in the BERRY RED COLLECTION SP1001 and chose a color for cutting the solid shell.

IMG_3111-ink

My next step was to choose a piece of foil paper from the POLISHED FOIL PAD FP1001 and emboss it using the WAVES EMBOSSING FOLDER EF1013.

IMG_3109-ink

To assemble the card

  • I added another paper from the Berry Red Collection cut to cover the front of a white notecard.
  • I used Scor-Tape to attach the foil waves paper which I had cut to 4 X 5 1/4.
  • I used a Glue Pen to bond the detailed shell outline to the solid piece and then secured it to the foil layer with more Scor-Tape.

IMG_3116-ink

These are the papers I used.
IMG_3116-ink

This card can be oriented as a side-fold or top-fold card.  And once I decide how to use it I can add a sentiment to the front or the inside.

And because I couldn't make just one...

IMG_3117-ink

I hope you love the new Under the Sea Collection as much as I do.  That Waves embossing folder!  All those beautiful shells!  Sea creatures!  And more!!!

Happy Crafting!

Ocean themed masculine birthday card
by Sara Cook

If you love nautical themed cards Memory Box has the dies and embossing folder to create like crazy.  I love recreating ocean themed scenes and this release is so amazing to easily add depth and texture to your cards.  I did go a little crazy on this card.  It will be a longer project but sooo worth it in the end.

Wood paneling:

Die cut the Wood Grain Planks twice from 80lb cream color card stock.  Next ink blend each plank with the following ink in order, Distress Oxide Antique Linen, Gathered Twigs, and Walnut Stun.  Do NOT over blend, letting some of the colors to show.  Then lightly ink blend with regular Distress Vintage Photo ink.  Let dry.  With a wide paint brush, brush on Distress Collage Medium Matte to all the wooden planks.  Let dry. Just imagine all the things you can create with this die and technique!

Porthole:

Die cut the Porthole die out of 110lb black card stock 2 times.  Glue the 2 pcs together.  Rubber the gold color from eh CRAF-T Metallic Rub-On paint with your finger over the die cut unevenly.

Front Assembly Panel:

Cut a 5 1/2"x 4 1/4" panel out of 80lb card stock.  Die cut the Porthole die from center.  Discard the inter circle die cut and keep the porthole die cut. Start at the bottom of the panel with 1 plank adhering it halfway on the paper.  Line up the next plank. start to fill up the panel off setting the planks like a wood floor.  Use smaller planks around the inner circle. Trim around the planks around the panel.  Adhere the 1 layer, uncolored porthole die cut from the back of the panel.  Cut a piece of acetate larger than the porthole and glue to the back of the 2 layered, colored, porthole and trim off the excess.  Adhere the porthole over the front panel.  Add double sided foam tape to  back of the panel.

Background:

Die cut the Deep Sea Octopus from the lightest pink paper from Berry Red paper pack.  Glue a small piece of blank card stock behind the eye.  Choose a heavy vellum paper and emboss using the Wave 3D embossing folder.  The vellum will rip but we will use those rips to add the octopus in front of the panel.   if needed take a exacto blade to cut areas to stick the head and arms through the vellum. Use the front panel to make sure the octopus is visible through the port hole.  Glue the octopus in place.

Assembly:

Trim down the lights blue paper from the Ocean Blue paper pack to A2 size. Adhere the embossed waves to the light blue paper and then to a A2 card base.  I would recommend a 110lb card stock for the card base.  Remove the backing from the front panel card.  Use the Big and Little Words stamp set to stamp Deepest Birthday Wishes on the lightest blue paper from the Ocean Blue paper pack in dark brown ink, Distress Oxide Walnut Stain.  Trim and adhere to front of the card.

I Think of You - Ocean Themed Card - Video
by Angie Cimbalo

Hello and welcome, it's Angie here today with an ocean-themed card featuring brand new dies from the 2021 Under the Sea release.  This release is full of amazing new ocean themed dies, shape dies, new 3D embossing folders, woodgrain paper, and a new line of self-adhesive gems/droplets.  For my card I used several of the ocean themed dies along with self-adhesive clear droplets - which come in a handy 3 size pack!

Here's a quick video showing how I made my card:

Here's a close up view:

I used a lot of ink blending and smooshing to make this card and I love how the clear droplets take on the color under them, so they will match any project you use them on!

The sentiment is from the Birch Press Designs set "Crystal Lingo," heat embossed on black card stock.

Here's one last look:

I hope you like my card!  I had so much fun creating it!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Grand Tulip Shell on Embossed Waves by Jean Okimoto

 P1004950

Our newest release - Under the Sea - is a mix of nautical, seashore, background and contemporary designs for spring-into-summer projects.  It features embossing folders, woodgrain cardstock,  a rainbow of adhesive Fairy Jewels - and some guy-card designs perfect for Father's Day, grads and birthdays too.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a Grand Tulip Shell design that's watercolored, spritzed, pressure- and heat-embossed to create layers of color and shimmer.

P1004977

Found a piece of watercolored paper in my stash - it's painted with diluted layers of dye inks from the Vineyard Kaleidacolor inkpad and spritzed with Imagine's Grape Jelly Fireworks .  Dry the inks, then cut it with the Grand Tulip Shell background.  Spritz both sides of the paper with a light mist of water.  Pressure-emboss it with the detailed Grand Tulip Shell die using the rubber embossing mat and plate(s) required for your machine.

Use the detailed die as a stencil and sponge the embossed areas with VersaMark.  Heat-emboss it with Imagine's Iridescent embossing powder. Clean the die with a damp washcloth.

Cut the detailed shell from the gold sheet in the Polished Foil pad.  Layer it over the embossed background/

Cut the light lavender Twilight Purple 6x6 sheet with the largest Rectangle Basics die.  Spray it with a very light mist of water, then pressure-emboss it.

Stamp the greeting - from the All the Happiness clear stamps and die set - on a different shade of lavender  from the Twilight Purple 6x6 Collection with Spanish Moss VersaFine Clair.

Use a corner rounder punch to trim the Blooming  embossed sheet.  Round the corners of a top-folded white A-2 card.  Attach the embossed cardstock.  Add the greeting (trimmed with the corner rounder), shell (use foam tape) and the new Bright Jewel accents.
