BIG Hugs and DIY Conversation Hearts by Jean Okimoto

P1002499

Scatter a handful of colorful hearts on a Slim Pinpoint Heart Plate background and add a glittery greeting.  It's a colorful way to send hugs!  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with another slimline design that's easy to create in your favorite colors too.

Stamp the greetings - from the Big and Little Valentine Words Clear Stamp Set - on different shades of smooth cardstock with Morning Mist VersaFine Clair.  Heat-set the ink, then diecut them with the smallest Double Stitch Double Heart Cut Out die.

Cut 5 hearts from gray cardstock with the smallest die too.  They'll add dimension and a shadowy look to the stamped hearts.

Cut Slim Pinpoint Heart Plate from white cardstock.  Cut five of the hearts with the small Double Stitch Heart Cut Out die.  Attach the pinpoint background to a pink slimline card.  Glue the gray hearts in the cutouts.  Attach the multicolored hearts - at an angle - so the gray inserts create a shadowy look.

Cut the solid Posh Big Hearts Script background from green cardstock.

Cut the delicate Post Big Hearts Script  from a white 6x6 sheet from the Delicate Pastel Glitter Pad - leave the diecut in the die.  Attach strips of Diecut 'n Bond tape behind the diecut greeting and run it through the machine again to cut the tape.  Remove the offcuts and little bits of tape liner and attach it to the green background.

Add ¼" punched dots from the pink sheet in the Delicate Pastel Glitter Pad.

You can use the Slim Pinpoint Heart Plate in so many ways - it's much more than just a pretty background!  Trim it to form a tag, add a bold greeting and pretty ribbon.  Diecut it into a large heart for a hearts-on-a-heart design.  Transform it into an elegant wedding or anniversary card.

Thanks for visiting...keep warm and have fun creating Valentines for your special people!

Rainbow Big Hugs
by Trina Pham

21B99C6D-F03E-4C82-9D46-131E6B35D6B0

Hello everyone.  Things have been tough lately and I needed something happy and cheerful, so I made a clean and simple (CAS) rainbow card to share today.

I started by trimming white cardstock into 3/8” strips and colored them with Copic markers in rainbow colors.  You could avoid this extra step if you have color cardstock.  The strips were then glued onto white cardstock and a heart was die cut from it using the Double Stitch Loving Heart die.

BBB8024E-7C46-4428-824D-769F22F969E2

Next, a Wrapped Stitch Rectangle was die cut from Bristol paper and the same heart was die cut in the center of it.  Adhered the panel to a white card base then inlaid the rainbow heart.  The Big Hugs sentiment was die cut from Bristol paper (3x), black cardstock and white Holiday Glitter paper.  Stacked them for dimension and offset with the black one for a shadow to finish.  There is a shadow die in the set, but it was a tad too big for the space.

I was having fun and while supplies were out, I made another CAS rainbow card.

And that does it for me.  Thank you for joining me today.  Enjoy your day.

Sending Love Shaker Card
by Michelle Bala

20

Hello there! Michelle here, sharing some of the fun new products for Valentine's Day! I used the largest die from the Scallop Pinpoint Loving Heart Die. This die is perfect for creating a shaker card. I die cut a piece of red cardstock than splattered it with white paint. Set aside to dry.

18

Next, I used the Pinpoint Burst Plate and embossed a piece of aqua cardstock.  Adhere the embossed panel to the card base. When the top die cut panel is dry, turn it over and adhere a piece of clear acetate to the back. This is the shaker window. Frame out the shaker window panel with a double layer of foam tape and remove all tabs.

19

Sprinkle a mix of sequins onto the aqua cardstock where the shaker window will position.  Adhere the top panel over the sequins.  Last, die cut the sentiment Sending Love Posh Script two times. I used the Holiday Glitter Pad and aqua cardstock to die cut the sentiment. I adhered them together slightly off center. Than adhere the sentiment to the card.

Thanks for stopping by for a peek!

Hope you'll give this shaker a try!

Double Stitch Loving Heart Cut Out Chocolate Hearts Cards
by Anne Thompson

I need a bunch of thank you cards, I've got all of these great new dies from Memory Box Valentines 2021, and there are two bags of chocolate hearts in the cupboard.  Hmmm...

materials used

IMG_2990-ink

I added plaid papers to the fronts of the three notecards.  I figured out how many chocolate hearts I wanted on each card and chose dies the right size from the Double Stitch Loving Heart Cut Out dies set, placed them on top of the plaid papers and cut right through the card fronts.  Then I used large glue dots to secure the hearts into the openings.  I used the punched out pieces to decorate an envelope for each card.  I cut the sentiments from an extra notecard and added them with glue onto the card fronts.

And that's it!  Easy peasy!  I'm going to gently secure all the chocolate hearts to enough cards so that I won't be tempted to eat them myself.  Mom and I can use them for thank you notes to her caregivers and tuck them into valentine baskets for friends and neighbors.  Guess we will hand-deliver these unless I include them in boxes to send to relatives and friends we may not see before Valentine's Day.

IMG_2996-ink

I like how the hearts pop up from the inside of the card, and there is still plenty of room to write a message as well.  You could also use the same idea to make tags that could be attached to valentine packages.

Happy Crafting!

Add Color to a Washi Tape Background by Jean Okimoto

A Sunset Blush Wide Washi Tape heart - layered over the new Woodgrain Heart - creates a quick Valentine  or friendship card.  Add a layered BIG Hugs Posh Script greeting and strips of gold glittered cardstock to balance the bold hearts - and that's it!

Hi there, Jean Okimoto here with an easy way to add interest and a watercolor-y look to the beautiful floral wide washi tape.  The tape is 4-½" wide - perfect for layering over the 4-½" wide Open Studio Watercolor Paper.

Sponge or brush overlapping layers of picked raspberry, squeezed lemonade and carved pumpkin Distress Oxides onto the smoother side of Open Studio Watercolor Paper.  Move the colors around with a large damp round paintbrush, the heat-set the inks.  It looks scary-bright here but it'll be softened and muted when the tape is applied!

Attach Sunset Blush Wide Washi Tape to the watercolor paper.  Place it between 2 layers of printer paper and run it through a diecut machine between the plates used for cutting.  The machine's pressure smooths small wrinkles and reduces some of the frostiness.

Cut the taped/colored paper with the second-largest Double Stitch Loving Heart Cut Out die.  Cut pale peach cardstock with Woodgrain Heart.

Cut the solid Big Hugs Posh Script from slightly darker peach cardstock.  Cut the delicate BIG Hugs from a gold sheet in the Polished Foil Pad - leave the diecut in the die.  Attach strips of Diecut 'n Bond doublestick tape to the diecut and run it through the machine again to cut the adhesive.  Remove the officuts and bits of tape liner.  Press the diecut (still in the die) firmly onto the peach background diecut and carefully remove the die.

Cut 2 narrow strips of the gold glitter sheet in the Holiday Glitter Pad and trim the ends.

Attach everything to a cream A-6 card (4-½" x 6-¼") - use foamtape for the greeting.

Pick your favorite colors and create multicolored backgrounds for Sunset Blush Wide Washi Tape.  I cut 4 additional smaller hearts from the washi tape-covered watercolor paper and I'm saving them for another project to share with you.

Thanks for visiting - see you again on Thursday...

Big Hugs
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_2159

Happy Friday everyone! Today I have a clean and simple card featuring new products from the new 2021 Valentines release.

I die cut the Sweet Bay Collage from white cardstock and spattered it with gold ink. Next I glued it to a kraft cardstock layer which I then adhered to a white card base.

IMG_2162

I die cut the background of the words "Big Hugs" from navy blue cardstock and the words from gold foil paper. I glued the words on top of the background and adhered it to the card front. That's it for today!

I hope you all have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by today!

Create a Verdant Leaf Collage Slimline Window Card by Jean Okimoto

Soft colors, shimmery gold and a leafy collage create a simple window card for any occasion.  The new Verdant Leaf Collage - on a background of pastels and spritzed, splattered gold - would be great for Valentine, wedding or friendship cards.

Hello, Jean Okimoto here...congrats to the winners of last week's Valentine Blitz - and thank you everyone for all of your thoughtful comments!

MemoryBoxVerdantLeafCollage, MemoryBoxSendingLovePoshScript, MemoryBoxBrightHearts, MemoryBox2021ValentineCollection, HandmadeCards, Papercrafts, DistressOxides, DiecutCards, LeafDiecuts, JeanOkimoto, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, StampsAndMemoriesHawaii, SlimlineCards, WindowCards, SlimlineWindowCards

Verdant Leaf Collage is a versatile design that's perfect throughout the year - in fresh greens for spring and summer, deep rich colors for fall, and in silver with bright berries for the holidays.

Trim white cardstock to 8-½" x 10-¼" and score it at 3-½" and 7".  The 3-¼" panel will be folded to the inside to cover the back of the inked background.  Cut Verdant Leaf Collage from the center panel.

Blend light layers of Distress Oxides on smooth white cardstock.  Dry the inks.  Shake Imagine's Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz vigorously, then spray the inked cardstock.  Heat-set it.  Splatter it with more Shimmer Spritz and heat-set it again.  I'm very spritz-and-splatter-challenged, but I attempted both here...living on the edge!

Trim the background slightly larger than the window.  Attach strips of doublestick tape along the backside of the perimeter of the window to attach the background.  Diecut hearts from the scraps with the Bright Hearts die.

Prep Sending Love Posh Script by rubbing it briskly with scrunched waxed paper to help remove the delicate diecut when you're ready to attach it to the card.  Cut it from pale peach cardstock - leave the diecut in the die.  Attach strips of Diecut 'n Bond doublestick tape to the diecut and run it through the machine again - leave it in the die again.  Remove the little bits of tape liner then press the self-adhesive words firmly onto the card.  Attach the hearts.

Big thanks to everyone who ordered December's SIMPLY ASIAN - WINTER 2020 card kits from Impress and Stamps and Memories!  Thanks for promoting the kit Ann, Shari and Roxanne!

Working on my next kit - HEARTS + HUGS - introducing many of the new Memory Box, Poppystamps (Whittles!) and Birch Press Design Valentine Collection products.

Thanks for visiting...see you again this weekend!

Big Hugs & Sweet Bay Collage Dies
by Angie Cimbalo

Main 1

Hello and welcome, it's Angie here today with a clean and simple card using some of the newly released dies along with the Memory Box "Pinpoint Burst Plate" die. Here's another look at my card:

Main left

Here's how I made my card:
1) I took a A2 white card stock panel and die cut it with the "Pinpoint Burst Plate", then adhered it to a A2 card base.
2) Using another piece of card stock I die cut the "Sweet Bay Collage" die, which cuts the negative out of the background and not around the edges of the circle.
3) I only wanted to use a portion of the cut "Sweet Bay Collage" die panel, so I die cut it with a stitched circle off center.
4) I put down 3 colors of Distress Oxide inks on my gel plate and used a brayer to spread the ink around, then added my circle die cut.
5) Once it dried, I added colored pencils and some white gel pen accents
6) I glued it to the card base, then after cutting several of the word dies and stacking them, I added that to the center slightly under one of the leaves.
7) Lastly, I added a few drops of Memory Box "Dragonfly Fairy Sugar" to the card front.

Here's one last look at my card:

Main rt

I hope you enjoyed my card for today. I had lots of fun creating it with die cuts and playing with my gel plate, too!
Be sure to check out the lovely new dies in the 2021 Valentine's release.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Detailed Hearts
by Laura Fulcher

IMG_3036

Greetings friends. Today I want to share a card that uses two forms of detailed hearts. The pink hearts on the left hand side are from the Scallop Pinpoint Loving Heart Cut out dies. When you die cut this set of nesting dies, the scallop heart detail is left on your strip of cardstock and the center cuts out solid hearts. I like that you can use the scallop heart as a frame on your card and you are left with plain hearts that can be used for just about anything. So practical!

The hearts on the right are from the Slim Pinpoint Heart Plate. The die can be used for a slimline card or cut down for a standard sized card. The plate runs through your die cut machine like any other die, but instead of cutting out individual hearts, you are left with little pinpricks in the shape of hearts. I love that you get a detailed background without doing much work. It is also nice that you don't have to poke out anything from your die once you run it through the machine.

To finish the card, I added the Big Hugs Posh Script sentiment to the top.

Here is a close up of the two types of hearts:
