Plaid Hearts Slimline Valentine Card by Angie Cimbalo

Hello and welcome, it's Angie here today with 2 versions of a plaid heart slimline card, plus an extra gift tag.

The first version of the card, pictured above is more clean and simple with less detail and embellishment.  Here's how I made my card:

1)  First die cut a slimline panel 3.25" by 8.25" of white card stock with the "Pinpoint Heart Plate" die

2) Cut about 20 plaid hearts from the "Christmas Plaid" paper pack with smallest die in the "Double Stitched Heart Cut Out"  or the "Scallop Pinpoint Loving Heart Cut Out" die set, or both at the same time if you have both sets.

3)  Glue the hearts inside the pinpoint dots of each heart on the die cut "Pinpoint Heart Plate" white die cut panel.  Below you can see mine after I had glued all the hearts down and started trimming off the overhanging edges.

4)  After trimming off any hearts hanging off the edges, adhere that panel to a black panel that is 1/8" bigger for a mat.

5)  Add the paper-pieced panel with black mat to the card base.  (Card is 8.5" by 3.5")

6)  Heat emboss in white on black card stock, the sentiment words which are from "Berry Wreath" Christmas stamp set and attach to card front at an angle.  I love that you can use this set for much more than just Christmas by combing the separate words into exactly what you need!

7)  Using the "Sprinkle Heart Collage" die, I cut several of the smaller white hearts from the "Frosted Glitter" paper pack to use on the card front

 That completes version one, the clean and simple one.  Below you can see the second version with extras on it.

If you prefer this second version, here's what I added:

9)  Cut thin strips of black and white glitter paper from the same paper pack to outline the top and bottom of the sentiment.  Also place more white hearts inside the some of the background plaid hearts.

There you have it!  Two versions of the same card!  Which do you like best?  Being the clean and simple gal that I am, I actually prefer the first one.

Now, while I had my supplies out, I went ahead and created this tag for a gift basket:

1)  Used the same heart die from "Scallop Pinpoint Loving Heart Cut Out" on a white A2 size panel, then backed the opening of each cut out heart with ombre shades of Distress Oxide inked card stock.  (Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick, and Picked Raspberry) I put the ink direct to paper so this was really a quick way to get the colors behind the heart openings.

2)  Add the stamped words in black ink, from the same stamp set, "Berry Wreath," then cut the whole panel with a "Stitched Rectangle Layer" die.  I punched a small hole in the top left corner and ran some twine through to tie it on the basket.

This is a basket full of cards from a Facebook group that sends cards to show kindness to people who are in need.  I wanted to add something to the basket "with love" and these stamps and dies were perfect for making this tag!

Deep-Emboss the Floral Bouquet Heart by Jean Okimoto

Dies are great for embossing but they sometimes need a little extra help.  Add extra dimension to your embossed designs with some behind-the-scenes washi tape and a diecut .  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a few techniques, delayed by many hours of internet connection challenges.

Two special steps in the embossing process create smooth details and minimize splitting and cracking of the cardstock.  First - attach wide washi tape behind the bright pink 80# (or heavier) cardstock to stabilize it and keep it from tearing.  It's on the backside and won't be seen.  Cut it with the largest Double Stitch Happy Heart Cut Out.

Next, cut a scrap of cardboard with the Floral Bouquet Heart - use a metal shim for a smooth, complete cut.  Place the die over the pink heart as usual.  Place the cardboard diecut behind the pink heart so it functions like the bottom layer of an embossing folder. Tape the stack to the embossing mat so it won't shift.  Pressure-emboss it using the rubber embossing mat and plates required for your machine.  

Cut Sprinkle Heart Collage from pink cardstock and trim the edges.  Place a strip of the white sheet from the Frosted Glitter Pad behind the cutouts.

Cut BIG Hugs Posh Script from light gray and bright pink cardstock and assemble the double-layered greeting.Attach everything to a light gray slimline card (8-½" x 3-⅝").  Add  ¼" dots punched from the silver sheet in the Holiday Glitter Pad.

Embossing adds interest to any project - let your Memory Box dies create focal points and backgrounds to complement your design without overwhelming it.

Diecuts - and offcuts - of the new Stylish Hexagon Trio create a layered background for the Double Stitch Happy Hearts.  Add tall, thin Twiggy Hugs and glittery gold accents and your card is ready to go! Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a peachy-pink hearts and hugs slimline design for February 14th - or any day.

Open Studio Watercolor Paper from my stash was sponged and brayered in shades of pink, coral and orange - then splattered with Imagine Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz ink.  Air-dry the ink for a few minutes, heat-set it, then cut the Stylish Hexagon Trio.

 

Attach the delicate outlines and the solid offcuts to a white slimline card (8-½" x 3-⅝"). 

 

Cut the two smallest Double Stitch Happy Heart Cut Outs from the Holiday Glitter Pad gold cardstock.  Save the small heart offcut for another project.

Cut Twiggy Hugs from the striped side of the pink Cottage Stripes and Dots 6x6 sheet.  Leave the letters in the die and attach strips of Diecut 'n Bond Tape.  Run it through the machine - just once, to cut the tape but

keep most of the liner intact for easy removal.  Keep the letters in the die and remove the liner pieces.  Flip the die over onto the card, press it firmly to transfer the self-adhesive letters to the card.  

 

Cut the gold glittered cardstock with the Honeycomb Square to create little hexagon accents.

Blend and brayer a stash of Open Studio Watercolor Paper backgrounds and have them ready for future projects.  Some inks seem to soften, mellow and get prettier as they await your next project.

Love Under the Cherry Blossoms. by Sara Cook

Hello everyone.  I have a Valentine's watercolor project featuring the Cherry Blossom Wreath with a heart opening to the inside of the card.

Cherry Blossoms:

Gold emboss the Cherry Blossom Wreath on Membory Box Watercolor paper.  Watercolor with Zig Real Brush pens.  Use 025 and 026 for the cherry blossoms.  Use 041 and 047 for the leaves.  Apply clean water with a water brush and apply the lightest color to a non porous surface and pick up with the water brush and add to the image.  Add the darkest color direct on the image where the shadow should be.  To color the background apply grey blue, 092, to a glass surface and pick up with the water brush.  Apply to the background of the wreath.

Heart Cut out:

Take the 2nd smallest die from the Scallop Pinpoint Loving Heart Cut and die cut out the center of the wreath.  Save the heart die cut. Die cut the full wreath with the Cherry Blossom Wreath die cut, making sure the center part of the die is tucked behind the heart cut out.  Use a light blue A2 card base and temperarilly center the wreath to the card base.  Temporarily glue the heart saved from the wreath back into place.  Remove just the wreath, keeping heart die cut in place.  Position the 2nd smallest Scallop Pinpoint Loving Heart die over the heart die cut, make sure to have the card open, and run through the die cut machine.  Glue the wreath on the front of the card base, centering the hearts.  Cut off the excess of the wreath hanging off the card base.

Inside of Card:

Gold emboss Happy Valentine's Day on the inside of the card toward the top center using the Big and Little Valentine's stamp set.  Make sure it cannot be seen through the heart cut out.  Die cut the 2nd smallest Scallop Pinpoint Heart from vellum. Addd glue to the areas that will be covered by the birds.  Glue the heart through the front of the closed card.  Die cut Poppy Stamps Little Hummingbirds from white card stock.  Glue the birds over the vellum heart, positioning to see them through the heart cut out.  Gold emboss 2 of the full cherry blossoms on Memory Box watercolor paper.  Color the same way as the wreath and die cut. Glue them to either sides of the bottom of the vellum heart.

Hello there! Michelle here, sharing a fun Valentine's Day card perfect for all those posh teens! 

I used the Bubble Border Die and Twiggy Hugs Die, Watercolor Paper and Twinkling Jewel Glitter Pad.

When I die cut the Bubble Border I taped the background so they would stay in place when I colored the circles. I used Copic Markers in shades 

RV52, RV55, and RV19 and used an ombre technique. I used the colorless blender, 0, to clean up any color outside the circles.

I die cut the word HUGS and used he same technique.

I realized the sentiment needed a bit more pizazz, so I die cut the words again using the twinkling jewel Glitter Pad. I adhered the colored letters to the glitter letters.

I adhered the Bubble Border panel tot he card base than adhered the sentiment. Last, I embellished with some sequins.

Dots & Stripes Backgrounds by Angie Cimbalo

Hello and welcome, it's Angie here today with some fun cards using strips of dotted and striped patterned paper.  I used the "Garland Stripes and Dots" paper which I just love because on each sheet, one side has the dots and the reverse side has the stripes in the same color.

Above are the two cards I made with the striped side of the paper and below are the two I made with the dotted side of the paper.

I wanted to make some heart cards with thin strips of patterned papers for the background, so I took the  paper  and cut both the stripe and the dotted sides of every color, into 1/2"strips. I glued them to a piece of white card stock and then trimmed each panel to 4.25" by 5.5" . The photo below shows the panels I made.

I took the "Double Stitch Loving Heart Cutout" set and with the largest die from the set, I cut a heart from each panel. I used each of those hearts to make two clean and simple heart birthday cards.
Here's the first one made with the striped heart background.

The word die is "Birthday Jotted Script" die and the heat embossed strip was stamped with the "Big & Little Words" stamp set. Here's the 2nd birthday card with the dotted heart background.

And here is a close up of the dotted background birthday card:

For the two other card, I used the left over piece with the missing heart and added a piece of white card stock behind the opening. Inside the heart I added a black heart cut out made with the two largest heart die from "Double Stitch Loving Heart Cutout", and the "Sending Love Posh Script" die, cut 4 times and layered for dimension. Here's a look at the one made with the striped background.

And here's a close up of the striped one.  I just love how that heart dies leaves a double stitched edge.

The next card was made exactly the same with the dotted background.

And here's a close up of the dotted "Sending Love" card.

Sending Love Along the Way by Sara Cook

Hi everyone!  I have a Valentine's scene card.  This can be for any loved one on Valentine's Day.

Card Base:

The card base will be A2 size out of white card stock.  Cut light blue and light pick card stock to 4"x51/4".  Die cut the 2nd largest Double Stitch Loving Heart out of the light pink card stock, centering the die in the lower half of the paper.  

Scene:

Die cut Woodland Heart Frame tree die out of cream card stock.  Color the edges of the trees with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink.  Drag some of the color across the trees randomly to create the bark of the birch tree.

Die cut Wild Grass Border out of green card stock.  From the Neighborhood Heart Frame, die cut the bicycle from red card stock and balloon hearts from red and pink paper.  Use a black ink pen to color the tires on the bicycle.  Add Ruby Crystal glitter glue to the red hearts and Berry Mist glitter glue to the pink hearts.

Assembly:

Glue the birch tree to the blue background paper, making sure it is centered to the heart cut out in the pink paper. Glue the grass on top of the tree die cut.  Glue the glitter heart balloons on the grass and then glue the bicycle.  Always making sure the die cuts can be seen through the heart window in the pink paper. 

Add double sided tape to the back of the pink card stock and place on top of the blue card stock, centering the heart over the scene.  Adhere to the white card base leaving the 1/8" boarder.

Sentiment:

Die cut the Sending Love out of red card stock and add Rubber Crystal glue on top.  Once the glitter glue is dried adhere to the top portion of the card.

Hello there! Michelle here, sharing a simple design for Valentine's Day that can be given to a male or female. 

I used the Crystal Heart Die, Double Stitch Loving Heart Cut Out Die, Big and Little Valentines Clear Stamp, Holiday Glitter Pad and Polished Foil Pad.

I die cut the Crystal Heart two times. Once each using glitter and foil paper in the champagne shade. I glued the foil heart on top of the glitter heart.

I adhered the layered Crystal Heart onto a piece of foam tape. I used a foam sheet for this step.  I added the geometric shapes back into the Crystal Heart, alternating between glitter and foil. Than I trimmed the excess foam sheet.

The next steps are shown above. I trimmed a piece of gray cardstock to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. I die cut the window using the Double Stitch Loving Heart Die. Stamp the sentiment. Turn the panel over and add foam adhesive. Adhere the gray panel onto a white card base. 

Last, peel off the back of the foam sheet from the Crystal Heart and adhere the heart in the center of the heart window.

Double-Emboss a Watercolored Crystal Heart by Jean Okimoto

Add a double layer of texture to a watercolored Crystal Heart with pressure- and heat-embossing.  It's an easy way to add dimension to a detailed design...without paper-piecing.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with another way to use this great new die from our 2021 Valentine Collection.

Cut the second-largest Double Stitch Loving Heart Cut Out from the smoother side of Open Studio Watercolor Paper.  Sponge it with overlapping layers of picked raspberry, worn lipstick and ripe persimmon Distress Oxides.  Heat-set the inks.

Pressure emboss it with the Crystal Heart die using the rubber embossing mat and plates required for your machine.  Leave the diecut in the die and sponge it with VersaMark.  Remove the die.  Heat-emboss the VersaMark-ed sections with detail gold powder - the watercolor paper adds texture to the embossing.  Clean both sides of the VersaMark-ed die with a damp washcloth, then dry it with a paper towel.

Cut Crystal Heart again from Open Studio Watercolor Paper.  Punch a tiny hole near the top center of the watercolored heart.  Tie the hearts together with gold cord.  Curl the cord ends with the side of a bone folder or the plastic flower burnishing tool.

Press worn lipstick ink onto a large acrylic stamp block then brush the ink onto the textured side of Open Studio Watercolor Paper.  Heat-set the ink.  Cut the paper with the largest Wrapped Stitch Rectangle die.  Attach the rectangle to a top-folded white A-2 card.

Shake Imagine Crafts Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz to blend the contents.  Use the bottom of the tube to splatter the painted background with a specks of gold.  Air-dry it for a few minutes, then heat-set it.

Stamp the greeting - from the Big and Little Valentine Words Clear Stamp Set - on the smoother side of the watercolor paper with Tulip Red VersaFine Clair.  Heat-emboss it with clear powder. Trim it and add it to the card.

Hope you enjoy the versatility of Memory Box dies as much as I do.  They're great for pressure-embossing, cutting stencils and as the actual stencil as we've used Crystal Heart here.

Good morning everyone, today I have a simple card using a combination of new and old products. 

I began by die cutting the Woodgrain Heart from white cardstock and used Distress Oxide Inks to add color to the heart.

Next, I created the background using a blender brush to apply ink through a stencil.

There was ink left on the stencil, so I spritzed it with water and placed it ink side down on anther piece of cardstock. I placed a dry paper towel over the stencil and pressed it into the paper. This way you get two backgrounds.

I intended to use the first background for my card, but I liked the second one better for this project.

Next, I glued the heart to the left side of the background and trimmed off the excess. Then I adhered the background to a black cardstock layer and used foam tape to glue it to a white card base.

I die cut the word love from black cardstock and glued it to my card. Next, I stamped the word "you" on a strip of black cardstock and white heat embossed it. Then I adhered it to my card front.

To finish the card I added a few sequins and that's it.
