Wishing You the Best
by Angie Cimbalo

Hello and welcome, it's Angie here today with this fun mini slimline card featuring stamps, dies and papers from Memory Box!

Here's a closer look at my card:

And here's how I made my card:

1.  Die cut 3 of the Memory Box "Woodgrain Planks" from "Ivory Woodgrain Paper"
2.  Swipe "Tea Dye" Distress Ink on 3 of the the longest plank and 1 of the next longest
3)  Cut the 2nd largest plank into half for the cross planks
4)  Find the center of the 3" by 6" mini slimline panel and add one long plank vertically toward the top
5)  Add one long plank on either side and the the cut in 1/2 planks horizontally toward top & bottom
6)  Add 4 brown sequins to look like nails in the boards
7)  Die cut the "Dreamy Freesia" "Layered Fresh Flowers" "Wildflower Stems" "Daisy Stems" & "Layered Daisies" from greens, pinks and deep purples (add dark pink ink in flower centers)
8)  Choose flowers and stems from the die cuts and trim them as you like to fit in front of the planks
9)  Add something to the flower centers, I used some old "Candies" from my stash (they don't make these anymore, but you could just cut or punch tiny circle from polka dot paper if you like the look
10)  Stamp the sentiment from "Signature Greetings" in Versafine Clair Pinecone ink and heat emboss in clear embossing powder.
11)  Choose a piece of paper from the "Spring Slim Paper Pad" that has gold criss-cross pattern and green plaid on the other, and cut it to 3.25" by 6.25"
12)  On the plaid side, rub the Distress Ink pad (Tea Dye) around the edges.  The gold criss cross lines on the back of the paper will actually show through as white or lighter marks giving the edges texture
13)  Add the mat to the card base then the plank panel on top of that

If you look carefully at the edges of the tea dyed mat you can see the texture lines from the gold lines on the other side of the paper.

And here's one last look at my card for today!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Knowing You Are There Nautical Card
by Angie Cimbalo

Hello welcome, it's Angie here today with this nautical card using lots of products from Memory Box.  Some are from the brand new 2021 Summer Day Dreams release and others from the 2021 Under the Sea Spring release.  Here's another look at my card:

The sentiment and anchor I used are from the "You Anchor Me" stamp set.  The sentiment is stamped in Versafine Clair Pinecone ink and heat embossed in clear and the anchor was stamped in Hero Arts Navy Ink, then die cut with the coordinating die.  Here's a closer look at the Ocean Porthole die with torn paper to represent water and sand.  I also put metal brads on the circles in the porthole die and twine on the anchor.

For the sand and water papers along with the kraft woodgrain background, I used my scissors edge to rough up the edges for a tattered look.  The background wood planks were die cut with the Wood Grain Planks die and cut from ivory woodgrain paper, then inked with Distress ink as seen below:

Then I glued them to some white card stock and cut the excess white off.

I matted that on a piece of cream woodgrain paper then on kraft woodgrain paper.
The torn paper for the water is from the Fresh Aqua paper pack.  The porthole die was also cut from kraft woodgrain paper then adhered to a white one and inked several times with the Distress Ink.

Below you can see to make the sand layer, I used the back of the woodgrain paper and inked it lightly then added some light tan dots with an alcohol marker.

I stamped the sentiment and adhered it inside the porthole just at the top so I could slip in the water and sand papers.  Once they were situated, I cut off the extra.  The anchor was attached in one spot with glue, then with glue dots I adhered the twine on the porthole and the back of the circle.  The porthole was then popped up on fun foam circle for dimension.

Lastly I added one of the "Graceful Ocean Birds" after coloring his beak, legs and adding an eye with a black marker.  Here's closer look at the bird:

And here's one last look at my card with all the Memory Box products:

I love making nautical cards and they are so easy to do when you have such amazing ocean dies and stamps from Memory Box.  Be sure to check out all the new releases for 2021 HERE.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Sand(paper) Sandcastles by the Sea by Jean Okimoto

Build sandpaper sandcastles by the sea with the new Fantasy and Stone Keep Castle Collages. Trim the bottom edges and take them from collage designs to freestanding diecuts on beachy summer cards.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here combining the Under the Sea and Summer Daydreams Collections - and transforming castles from royal residences to sandy architecture.

MemoryBoxFantasyCastleCollage, MemoryBoxStoneKeepCastleCollage, MemoryBoxGracefulOceanBirds, MemoryBoxRectangleBasicsSet, MemoryBoxFreshAqua6x6Pack, MemoryBoxEarthNeutral6x6Pack, MemoryBoxNestedGlobes, MemoryBoxDelicatePastelGlitterPad, MemoryBoxFairyDrops, JeanOkimoto, MemoryBoxCo, MemoryBoxCoDiecuts, CastleCards, BirdDiecuts, CastleDiecuts, GlitteredDiecuts, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, StampsAndMemoriesHawaii

Prep the Fantasy and Stone Keep Castle Collage dies by rubbing them briskly with scrunched waxed paper to help release the tiny pieces.  If your sandpaper starts to curl, attach it to adhesive label paper or a sticker sheet to stabilize it.  Diecut 100- and 150-grit sandpaper for a slight variation in color and texture.  No mass-produced sandcastles here!  Trim the bottoms.

Paint watercolor paper with diluted refill inks in blues, teals and greens.  Air-dry it,  then spritz it with Imagine's Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz. Air-dry it for a few minutes, then heat-set it.  Cut it with the 3" x 4.1" Nested Globes die.

Cut Graceful Ocean Birds from the pale blue-white Delicate Pastels 6x6 Glitter sheet.  Save the 3rd bird for another project.  Cut the birds again from a dark gray 6x6 in Earth Neutral Collection.  Trim the glittered legs and tip of the beak. Layer the glittered diecuts over the black diecuts - slightly offset for a shadowed look.

Cut the teal 6x6 from the Fresh Aqua Collection with the 4-¼" x 5-½" die.  Attach it to a side-folded white A2 card.  Attach the diecuts - use foamtape for the standing bird. Add the medium-sized Fairy Drops

Layers of Ocean Sights and Sounds by Jean Okimoto

P1006886

Imagine the sound of waves on the shore - or echoing in a pearly seashell - and create a slimline card of sunwashed pastels.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with some inspiration for July's Nautical Challenge.  There are many more layers than usual - hope you like the composition, textures and soft colors.

P1006933

Cut the solid Grand Spiral Shell from watercolor paper painted in watery overlapping layers of pink, teal, cream and lavender.  Pressure-emboss the diecut with detailed Grand Spiral Shell die.  Cut the pale aqua Polished Foil 6x6 sheet with the detailed shell die.  The pressure embossing adds subtle shadows and debossed areas to secure the foil diecut.

Rub the Wood Grain Planks die briskly with scrunched waxed paper to help release the diecut.  Cut the planks from White Woodgrain cardstock

Cut the pale smokey blue 6x6 from the Stormy Blue Collection into 2 strips - 2-½" x 6" and 1-½" x 6".  Tape them to form a single strip.  Attach it - angled - to a White Woodgrain slimline card (3-⅝" x 8-⅝") so the spliced section will be covered by the tallest plank.

Cut the straight rope from the End of My Rope Set twice from White Woodgrain cardstock.  You could cut just one and cut it in half - but that would involve too much thinking for me!  Just wanted it to look like posts tied with ropes, like down at the pier.

Color three Clear Jewels with a violet Sharpie or Copic Marker.

Attach the planks, ropes, and Grand Spiral Shell to the background - use foamtape for the plank on the right. Stamp the greeting - from the new You Anchor Me Clear Stamp and Die Set - on a light lavender 6x6 from the Twilight Purple Collection with Fantasia VersaFine Clair.  Attach it with foamtape.  Add the jewels.

Say HI with the New Balloon Bunch and Twiggy Alphabet by Jean Okimoto

Balloons aren't just for celebrations and special occasions.  Why not send a balloon card to say hello and let someone know you're thinking about them?  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with two new designs from our Summer Daydreams Collection - the fun Ballloon Bunch and slender Twiggy Alphabet.

MemoryBoxBalloonBunch, MemoryBoxTwiggyAlphabet, MemoryBoxGracefulJellyfish, MemoryBoxStylishRectangleTrio, MemoryBoxClearJewels, MemoryBoxLushGreen6x6Pack, MemoryBoxOceanBlue6x6Pack,MemoryBoxTwinklingJewelsGlitterPad, JeanOkimoto, BalloonDiecuts, DiecutBalloons, BalloonCards, HandmadeBalloonCards, AlphabetDiecuts, InkBlending, ImagineCraftsSheerShimmerSpritz, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, StampsAndMemoriesHawaii

Spray colorful ink-blended cardstock with Imagine's Frost Sheer Shimmer Spritz.  Air-dry it for a few minutes, then heat-set it.

MemoryBoxBalloonBunch, MemoryBoxTwiggyAlphabet, MemoryBoxGracefulJellyfish, MemoryBoxStylishRectangleTrio, MemoryBoxClearJewels, MemoryBoxLushGreen6x6Pack, MemoryBoxOceanBlue6x6Pack,MemoryBoxTwinklingJewelsGlitterPad, JeanOkimoto, BalloonDiecuts, DiecutBalloons, BalloonCards, HandmadeBalloonCards, AlphabetDiecuts, InkBlending, ImagineCraftsSheerShimmerSpritz, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, StampsAndMemoriesHawaii

Here's a tip.  It's easy to find the right blend of colors for the balloons without the distraction of the surrounding areas if you cut a template from contrasting cardstock and use it to select the area to diecut. Place the die in the template and cut the balloons.

The "strings" are cut with the Graceful Jellyfish die, then trimmed and attached to the balloons.

Cut the Twiggy Alphabet greeting background from a light green 6x6 in the Lush Green Collection.  Cut the contrasting letters from the turquoise Twinkling Jewel Glitter Pad 6x6 sheet.

Cut the largest Stylish Rectangle from a dark blue 6x6 in the Ocean Blue Collection.

Attach the diecuts to a white A-6 card (4-½" x 6-¼") - use foamtape at the top of each balloon.

Add a small gold cord bow and sparkly Clear Jewels.

Why not make a bunch of balloon cards in different colors and have them ready for any occasion...or just to say hello?  As an alternative - cut the balloons from different colors of Memory Box 6x6 Glitter or Polished Foil Pads and use coordinating colors of our 6x6 paper collections for the greetings.

Thanks for visiting...have a great weekend!

Happy Birthday
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_3285

Hello everyone!  Today's card features products from the new Memory Box Summer Daydreams Collection.  I saw a fun technique that Gina K demonstrated on her Youtube channel called Emerging Watercolor.

I taped a piece of watercolor paper to my surface and colored the background using two colors of Tombow Markers.  You can use any water based markers, watercolor or inks for this technique.

IMG_3281

Once my background was colored, I used a paintbrush and plain water to blend the color.  I dried the background completely, then used embossing ink to stamp the fish on the background.  I used clear embossing powder to heat emboss the stamped fish.

IMG_3282

Next, I sprayed the background with water and used a dry paper towel to pick up the color. I did this several times to remove as much color as I could.  The embossing powder acts as a resist and the end result is almost a batik look to your background.

IMG_3283

Once the background was dry I used the Wrapped Stitch Rectangles to die cut my paper.  I glued two strips of orange cardstock to the background and used foam tape to adhere the die cut anchor to the card.

I die cut the banner from white cardstock, stamped "Happy Birthday" in orange ink and used foam tape to glue it to my card.

IMG_3286

I used foam tape to adhere the card front to a white card base and glued some Fairy Drops to finish off the card.

Diecut the Grand Tulip Shell from Recycled Paper by Jean Okimoto

P1006602

Do you ever save paper because it's just too pretty to toss...like the cover of  the Delicate Pastel Glitter Pad? Here's a way to use the glossy soft pastel-striped cover sheet - diecut the Grand Tulip Shell background, then top it with a delicate gold Polished Foil diecut.

Hi, Jean Okimoto here with bit of up-cycling on a slimline friendship card.  My class kits are filled with Memory Box papers and cardstock.  I buy a lot of extras in addition to my Design Team supplies - and accumulate a lot of covers from the paper and cardstock packs.  Many are too pretty to throw into the recycle bin.

P1006630

I cut the soft rainbow pastels cover of the Delicate Pastels Glitter Pad - the colors were perfect for the Grand Tulip Shell background.  Pressure-embossing with the detailed Grand Tulip Shell die added dimension - and made it easier to attach the detailed gold layer.

Cut the medium-sized Stylish Rectangle from the creamy yellow sheet in the 6x6 Sunny Orange Collection.  Spritz the large center offcut with Imagine's Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz.  Airdry it for a few minutes, then heat-set it.

Color Clear Fairy Jewels with a dark yellow Sharpie or Copic Marker and set them aside to dry.

Stamp the greeting - from the Joyful Moments Clear Stamp Set - on a medium yellow sheet from the Sunny Orange Collection with Melon Impress Fresh Ink.  Heat-emboss it with detail clear powder.

Attach the diecuts and jewels to a pink slimline card (3-½" x 8-½").

P1006613 2

You can also create a striped background of the Delicate Pastels with 1" wide strips of the actual 6x6 sheets and diecut it for a sparkly shell.  It would be a pretty card for a summer birthday celebration.

Thanks for visiting - keep cool and safe this weekend!

Shaped Flower Thank You Cards
by Sara Cook

Hello everyone! Creating custom thank you cards are such a good way to show how grateful you truly are.  Using the colored paper pad with the flower dies make it simple to create beautiful shaped flowers to accent any card.  Using them on a thank you card just give such special meaning to the recipient.

Watermark test image20210628_174414

Flower Shaping:

I started with bot the Layered Fresh Flowers and Layered Daisies and die cut them out of Vibrant Violet and Sunny Orange.  The 3 shades of the same color in 1 paper helps with creating depth to the flowers. For the Layered Fresh die cuts I added some white highlights with a Posca pen, flicking the pen from the center of the flower toward the middle of the petal.  I spritz the all the die cuts with water, this helps with holding the shape, then shape the flowers petals from the back then turn them over and press down in the center.  Some I layered 3 to 4 flowers other just 2 layers.  Adhering them together with liquid glue.  For the ones that are more shaped I held the flower together until the glue dried. for the Fresh Flowers I added Strawberry Ice glitter glue to the center.  For the Layered Daisies I used a light brown from the Earth Neutral paper pack. I also cut out some foliage from Layered Daisies from Lush Green paper and lightly shaped them as well.

Watermark test image20210628_121942

Watermark test image20210628_122106

Sentiment:

For the sentiment I used the 2nd smallest die from the Matinee Rectangle Layers and die cut out from the darkest in color in the colors used for the flowers. I stamped and heat embossed the Thank You sentiment from the Peony Garden Corner stamp set. I chose white embossing powder for the flowers from Vibrant Violets paper and gold for flowers from Sunny Orange paper pack.

Watermark test image20210628_121806

Card Base:

For the card base I used the new woodgrain paper and die cut it out using the Pinpoint Burst Plate to give it some organic texture. The Vibrant Violet colors I used white woodgrain paper and the Sunny Orange I used kraft woodgrain. I ink blended with making colors swirling out from the center out, going lighter the further away from center.

Watermark test image20210628_121717

20210628_122139

Assembly and Accents:

The card base is adhered to a A2 size card. I adhere the sentiment with foam tape over the center of the PinPoint Burst.  Then adhered the flowers around the sentiment.  For the Layered Daisies I added Layered Daisies foliage die cuts.  To bring in some sparkle I added Clear Jewels colored with alcohol markers to match the color scheme.
