Wreath Birthday Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone.  It is finally raining in the northwest and it just puts me in the card making mood.  I have a wreath birthday card with a lot of dimension and depth, with a little sparkle.  I have been using my mixed media supplies more and more.  In today's card  I'm using my sprays and embossing powder in this card.

Background Panel:

Create your own pattern paper with the Signature Stamp stamp set is easy with some embossing powder and ink. Cut heavy white card stock to 4 1/8" square.  Stamp Happy Birthday from the Signature Greetings stamp set with embossing ink all over the background.  I used a light golden embossing powder and heat set.  After cooled, ink blend from the sides half way in with Distress Oxide ink Antique Linen.  Leaving the center white.

Sentiment:

Gold heat emboss twice the Sending Happy Birthday from the Signature Greetings stamp set.  Making sure to let cool in-between embossing.  Die cut with matching die.

Wreath Elements:

Die cut the Eucalyptus Collage, Delicate Wreath and the flowers and birds die from the Willow Globe from heavy white card stock least 3 times.  Die cut the flowers at least 3 more times.  I used Lindys Spray inks to color my dies cuts using pink and golden sprays for flowers and 2 wreaths.  For the eucalyptus leaves and 1 wreath I used Lindys Magical powder Shabby Turbine Teal. Leave the birds white.  Using shaping tools I shaped the flowers and leaves while still slightly damp.

Assembly:

Create a top folding 4 1/4" square card base from heavy white card stock.  Add foam tape to the back ground panel and center it on the card base.  Layer the 3 wreath die cuts and adhere down. Adhere in the eucalyptus leaves, birds, and flowers around the wreath.  Add light pink and green Fair Jewlels to the center of the flowers and randomly around the wreath.  Add foam dots to the back of the sentiment and adhere it to the center of the wreath.

Two Very Different "You Anchor Me" Cards for Guys
by Anne Thompson

I knew that I wanted to use the "You Anchor Me" clear stamps and dies set this week to create some cards for guys that could be used for a variety of occasions.  This is the first card I made:

IMG_3294-ink

  • I started with a white notecard and covered the front with brown dot paper from the Garland Stripes and Dots paper pad PP1011.
  • I used VersaMark ink to stamp the anchor from the You Anchor Me stamps and dies set CL5269D on white cardstock, embossed it with Detail Gold embossing powder, and cut it out with the corresponding die.
  • I used a scrap of the dot paper and stamped the sentiment "knowing you are always there anchors me" on the stripe side of that paper with VersaMark ink and embossed it in gold, trimmed it down and mounted it on a scrap of dark brown cardstock from the Earth Neutral Collection SP1009.
  • I cut the swirly rope from the End of My Rope dies set 94546 from more of the dark brown cardstock.
  • To complete the card, I adhered the sentiment block in the upper righthand corner and then threaded the rope through the hole in the anchor and secured both to the card front using glue dots.

For the second card, I wanted to play with the idea of stripes which is this month's blog challenge.  I used glitter paper to cut out lots of swirly ropes and those became my stripes.

IMG_3296-ink

  • I had one piece of turquoise plaid paper left from the Dashing Holiday paper pad PP1001 which I used to cover the front of a white notecard.
  • I used five of the swirly ropes as stripes across the front of the notecard.
  • I added three Marina Sailboats 94575 cut from white and turquoise cardstock scraps that I backed first with Scor-Tape.
  • Inside I added another rope, a silver-embossed anchor, and the sentiment "drop Anchor where your heart is".

These are very versatile stamps and dies that can be combined in any number of ways.

Royal Treatment
by Laura Fulcher

IMG_3300

Greetings friends. I hope all have crafty plans this weekend!

I wanted to play with the the new castle stamp. I have seen it used with so many color palettes and even used as a spooky Halloween castle. I wanted to go for a fairytale look for my card. I started by stamping my castle onto watercolor paper using Black Versafine ink. Once it dried (it takes a while), I colored it with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and a waterbrush.

I stamped the clouds directly on the watercolor paper with the castle, but I diecut the crown and parchment piece to layer on the card. To make the crown pop a bit more, I painted it with gold metallic paint and added some jewels to give it some glitter.

Here is a close up:

Hello Friend
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_3600

Hello everyone!  Today's card features the new Simon Says and Memory Box STAMPtember exclusive stamp set.  I know that these stamp sets sell out quickly, so I thought I would give some inspiration for those who did order the limited edition set.

Let's make the card:

  • Die cut a slim line layer from White Bristol Smooth cardstock.
  • Stamp and Black heat emboss the flowers twice on the cardstock.
  • Zig Clean Color Brush markers were used to color the image.
  • Using a blender brush, lightly add Bundled Sage Distress Ink to the background.
  • Lightly mist the background with plain water.
  • Once the background is dry, spatter it with black ink.

  • IMG_3601
  • Mat the card front to a black mat and adhere that to a white card base.
  • Die cut the Hello Cursive Script Circle from black cardstock and glue it to a vellum die cut circle.
  • Apply glue to the back of the circle and adhere it to the card front.
  • White heat emboss the word friend on a strip of black cardstock and use foam tape to adhere it to the card.

That's it for today! Have a great weekend!

Spooky Night Halloween Slimline Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone.  I don't know about you but I am ready for fall, Halloween card making time!  One of my favorite cards to create, spooky night scenes.  I have a Halloween card fueaturing the Castle Collage Dies.

9C1EC550-493D-4333-9F07-6D8AAF4C9942_1_201_a

Sky Background:

Die cut the 3rd largest die from Slim Basic Rectangles set out of heavy white card stock.  Make a mask for the moon by die cutting the 2nd to the smallest die in the Circle Basics set from masking paper.  peel off the backing and adhere in the upper right hand corner of the panel.  Ink blend from the listed to darkest Distress Oxide inks, Mustard Seed, Crackling Campfire, Hickory Smoke, and Dusty Concord. Blend Black Shoot around the upper corners.  Peel off the mask.  Use the blending tool with the extra ink on it (do not add more) of the Hickory Smoke and Dusty Concord and lightly blend around the moon.  Then take a white gel pen and outline the moon.  Take our finger and blend out the ink to create a haze around the moon.  Add the white gel pen to just the center and blend with your finger outward.  Repeat until you get a lighter center to the moon to create dimension.

Castle:

Die cut the Fantasy Castle from a medium shade form the Twilight Purple paper pack.  Die cut the Stone Keep Castle from the darker shade from the Twilight Purple paper pack.  Ink blend the Fantasy Castle with Dusty Concord then lightly with Black Soot.  Repeat the same thing with the Stone Keep but add a little more Black Soot.  Take a charcoal pencil and drawing in the cuts of each Castle and blend with your finger.  To create the windows use Distress Alcohol Pearl inks Alchemy and Deception on transplant Yupo paper.  Glue to the back of the castle and trim off extra with scissors.  Glue the Fantasy Castle from the Stone Keep Castle

Witch:

Die cut the Lantern Witch from the same medium shade form the Twilight Purple paper pack.  Ink blend with Dusty Concord and Black Soot.  Adding more Black Soot to the lantern and hate.  You can use sticky note or washi tape to make it easier to ink blend.  Leave the amid and face untouched as the white center of the paper makes it look like the latter is lighting up her face.  Glue some the the Yubo background from the castle behind the lantern and trim off the excess.

52EF3E01-DE5D-4661-8C9A-8B67AEE18412_1_201_a

Ghosts:

To create the ghost use Distress Alcohol purple and blu ink on transplant Yupo paper.  Let dry.  Then take a paper towel damp with straight rubbing alcohol and white off.  This gives a slight tint to the Yupo to blend slightly into the background.  Die cut the Yupo with the Floating Ghosts dies.

CFACCA99-A8A8-4D32-8E41-0B2DD6DBB4F0_1_201_a

Tombstones:

Die cut  several times the smallest die from the Nested Globes die set from the same medium shade form the Twilight Purple paper pack and a dark greys from the Earth Neutral paper pack.  With a fine point black marker write names with year ranges and RIP on the tombstones.  Ink blend with Black Soot around the edges and randomly pull some ink across the center.

9C1F611C-265C-4A7E-AC43-8A4F5C14DF26_1_201_a

Hills:

For the furthest away hill use the same medium shade form the Twilight Purple paper pack and mark where the top of the hill should be to expose of the Cracking Campfire and Mustard Seed sky.  Cut the hill with scissor.  Repeat this process to make 3 more hills from xark greys from the Earth Neutral paper pack. Ink blend with Dusty Concord and Black Soot making the further away more darker.  Adhere the hills on the background.  Leave the top of the hill without adhesive to be able to add the die cuts behind the hills.

Sentiment:

Stamp and heat emboss Happy Halloween from Poppystamps Halloween Ingredients on black card stock.  I used a purple embossing powder that I had in my stash from several decades ago. Any purple embossing power will do.  Trim each work separately

Assembly:

Adhere the castle to the top of the hill in the center.  Add 3 of the smaller ghost around the castle.  Add a path from the castle entrance down to the next hill using a white pastel pencil and bland with your finger.  Add the witch to the first hill int he center.  Adhere the tombstones in the foreground tucking some behind the hills.  Trim some shorter and glue on the top of the hills.  Add the larger ghost behind one of the tombstones.  Adhere the sentiment on the last hill to the righthand side.  Create a card-base die cutting from heavy black and white card stock the largest die from the Slim Basic Rectangle. Score the white base at 1/4" inch and add adhesive to that section and adhere the black base on top.  Adhere the scene to the center of the card-base.

Hello there! Michelle here, sharing some quick and easy gift tags. I used Thanks Cursive Script Circle Die, Hello Cursive Script Circle Die and Stitched Circle Layers Die.

I assembled the bases and allow for drying time.  Next, I colored up some cardstock with Copic Markers. I die cut Hello and Thanks Cursive Script and adhered them to the tag base. I added some coordinating twine and cord, and also Bright Jewels gems.

Spotlighting Sweet Peas
by Trina Pham

B6860D77-6018-417E-BA70-AC33F040E91F

Hello and happy Labor Day to those celebrating.  For my card today, I modified the spotlighting technique to use with the Blooming Sweet Pea 3D embossing folder to create a very simple floral card.

Started by die cutting a circle stencil from masking paper using Circle Basics die.  Adhered the stencil to a Bristol panel and applied Milled Lavender distress ink (DI) with a blender brush.

11C0643F-66C9-46B8-A868-0158B5672B0B

Insert the panel into the embossing folder and ran it through my die cutting machine.

A596BDD7-49DA-4A3A-919C-4952F6314443

Placed the circle stencil back and applied Shaded Lilac DI to the raised areas.

602D30F4-ADA4-4637-A78E-149DAE3A5B63

Used a sanding block next to buff the raised areas and remove the colors.
 BD2FB767-2185-426D-A75D-90299653F996

You could skip applying the darker ink color before sanding, but I wanted the contrast.  For some texture and a faux watercolor look, spritz it with water and blot with a paper towel.

B03285C3-D3A2-4B06-B1AB-465DE6758713

A circle frame was then die cut from Twilight Purple color paper with the circle die used to create the stencil and the next circle size up.  The Signature Greeting sentiment was heat embossed with white embossing powder on black cardstock, then die cut out with the matching die.  Assembled the card onto a white card base and added some clear jewels to finish.

Really simple… and that does it for me.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful week.

A bold Slim Diagonal Collage creates an ink-blended background for the detailed Dreamy Freesia.  Coordinate the background with matching colors from the 6x6 Collections, then add a simple greeting and custom-colored jewels.  Hello, Jean Okimoto here with a summer-into-fall slimline design.

A strip of ink-blended cardstock from the stash was used here.  It's sprayed with a light layer of Imagine's Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz and air-dried while I worked on the rest of the card.

Cut white cardstock to 8-½" x 7-⅝".  Score it lengthwise at ¾" and 4-¼".  The ¾" section forms a tab to attach the back of the card. Diecut Slim Diagonal Collage about 1-¾" to the right of the ¾" scoreline.  Cut it lengthwise for best results.

Cut another piece of cardstock to 3-½" x 8-½".  Attach it to the ¾" tab.

Attach a strip of the ink-blended cardstock behind the Slim Diagonal Collage.  Fold the cardstock to the inside on the 4-¼" scoreline and tape the edges.

Cut Hello Cursive Script Circle from the turquoise 6x6 sheet in the Fresh Aqua Collection.  Leave the diecut in the die and remove the offcuts with a piercing tool.  Cut a circle of white cardstock with the 2" Circle Basics die.  It's smaller than the script circle  so the background is visible.  Dot the greeting with tiny amounts of glue then press the greeting onto the white circle.  Push it out of the die with the piercing tool.

Cut Dreamy Freesia with the green 6x6 from the Lush Green Collection.  Cut the flower and 2 buds from the dark yellow 6x6 from the Sunny Orange Collection.

Attach the diecuts to a white slimline card (3-½" x 8-½").

Color Clear Jewels with an emerald green Sharpie or Copic Marker.  Color a medium-sized Fairy Drops Jewel with a yellow marker.

Attach the diecuts to the card - use foamtape for the flower and buds.  The layers, foamtape and yellow jewel create a card requiring additional postage.

If you love the bold, crisp look of stripes too - join September's Stripes Challenge for a chance to win great Memory Box products.  View the Challenge details here.  Stripes aren't just straight vertical or horizontal designs - they can be wavy, diagonal, jumbled, arched or angled - we have great striped designs in our collage collection.

Rainbow Hello Mini Slimline
by Angie Cimbalo

Hello and welcome, it's Angie here today with a clean and simple "Hello" card using a rainbow theme.  I used 2 of the newest dies from the latest release!  I love the new "Delicate Wreath" die and as soon as I saw it I imagined it in rainbow colors!  So that's how I decided to create my card.

Here you can see that I used finger daubers with Distress Oxide Inks to blend ink onto card stock as you can see below:

I did extend the color all the way into the middle so that I could cut the word die from the left over piece in the center of the wreath die.  You can see below the "Cursive Hello Circle" die  is also in rainbow colors!  Both dies were also cut from black and then stacked together for dimension.

Next, I added both die cuts to a mini slimline panel slightly off the right side.  After cutting off the excess, I added that panel to a slightly bigger black card panel for a mat and added that to a mini slimline card base.  My card base is 3" X 6".

Lastly I added rainbow colored jewels on the outside of the wreath.  Here's one last look:

I hope you like my card for today!  Be sure to come back tomorrow for more inspiration from the team!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Create a multi-colored striped background quickly - without gluing all 21 colorful strips. The Jumbled Line Collage die, paired with a striped 6x6 from the Garden Folly pack makes it quick and easy!

Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a striped-striped backdrop for the Layered Cosmos and Layered Fresh Flowers.  It's a bit of inspiration for September's Stripe Challenge too.

PP1005

Cut white cardstock with the second-largest Wrapped Stitched Slim Rectangles die.  Cut it with the Jumbled Line Collage.  Attach a strip of the Garden Folly striped 6x6 behind the cutout - align it so the green stripes are positioned to resemble flower stems. Cut two sets  of Layered Cosmos and the small Layered Fresh Flower from the dark peach Berry Red Collection sheet.  Cut the Cosmos centers again from a yellow 6x6 sheet in the Sunny Orange Collection.  Punch one of the yellow Cosmos centers with a ¼" circle punch.  Cut the Layered Fresh Flower center from the yellow sheet too.

Assemble the flowers.

Cut the medium strip from the Banner Sentiment Trio set from a lighter peach 6x6 in the Berry Red Collection.   Stamp the greeting - from the new

Deep Blue Ocean Clear Stamp and Die Set - with Pinecone VersaFine Clair.

Attach the diecuts to a white slimline card (3-½" x 8-½") - attach the greeting with foamtape.

Color Clear Jewels with orange and pink Sharpie or Copic Markers.  Dry the ink and add the jewels to the card.

The Jumbled Line Collage is great with a wide range of prints, watercolored backgrounds and glitter.  Top it with related diecuts and your card is done!

Thanks for visiting - see you again on Saturday...
