Hi, it's Angie Cimbalo, and I am thrilled to be joining the Memory Box design team!
I’m a semi-retired school music teacher from Texas. My husband and I have 4 adult children, 5 grandchildren with one more on the way. When not crafting, I’m having tons of fun helping music students and their directors in schools in the area. I’ve enjoyed crafting my whole life, but paper crafting is my favorite of all.
I'm so happy to have the opportunity to work with Memory Box's amazing products and to share my creations with you, alongside the super talented Memory Box designers.
My first project is a "Warmest Wishes" holiday card with a very rustic feel.
I started with a piece of Memory Box watercolor paper for my background, first smooshing the textured side of the paper into some Walnut Stain Distress Ink, then dragging the ink pad across the paper. Memory Box watercolor paper is nice and thick and gives you a choice of a smooth or a textured side. Dragging the ink pad on it really highlights the texture of the watercolor paper.
I cut that panel with the second largest "Stitched Rectangle Layers" die and used the largest die in the set to cut a brown rectangle to mat behind it.
To make the pine needles, I took more watercolor paper and added Distress Oxide Pine Needles ink pad directly to paper, but this time I used the smooth side of the paper. I splattered it with a little white paint mixed with water and a paint brush. After it dried, I used both "Pointy Pine Needles" and "Forest Pine Branch" dies to cut out the green pine needles. I also cut the branch from brown card stock and then pieced the brown and green parts together.
The pine cones were cut with the "Pinecone Stacker" dies. The way the die is laid out shows you exactly how to piece it together to get 2 pine cones, one large and one small. After cutting them I used some of the score lines to bend them inward, then glued the pieces together.
I inked them first with more Walnut Stain ink, then took colored pencils and a white gel pen to get more detail and depth on the pinecones. I traced the bottom of each piece of die-cut with dark brown, then used a lighter brown pencil to smooth it out. I used the same dark brown to accent the lines in the die so you can see them better, then added both white colored pencil and white gel pen to the edge of each one of the cone scales. The pictures below show before and after pencil accents were added. I think they look very realistic either way!
Both pine cones and the sentiment were popped up on foam tape on the card for dimension.
The sentiment is from the "Berry Wreath" stamp set, heat embossed in white on brown card stock. Lastly I added a few water droplet gems on top of dots of gold paint pen, to give them a golden glow.
I hope you like this "Warmest Wishes" card made with lots of Memory Box goodies. It was a so fun to create!
See you next time!

Hi Meagan, yes I did! And it is a very small world - so nice to hear from you. Yes, I have helped Ashley with her orchestras, it's always so fun to see former students become amazing teachers like your sweet dear sister!
