Winter Cabin by Trina Pham
Happy Fri-yay everyone. I love how the collage dies from the Christmas collection layer so beautifully together. So I used the two small ones - Tall Fir and Small Pine Tree - to create a simple cabin in the woods shadow box scene card.
To begin, two A2 size (4.25”x5.5”) panels were die cut from mixed media (MM) paper using the largest die from Rectangle Basics. These serve as the front and back of the box card. Scored each panel at 4.25” and 5.25” then die cut the Tall Fir Collage (the larger of the two dies) from one for the front.
Trimmed a piece of MM paper to 4.25”H x 4.125”W next and die cut the Small Pine Tree Collage in the middle of it. Adhered it behind the Tall Fir Collage front panel. For added support, a hand cut snowdrift piece was added.
Created the “log” cabin with the brown stripe paper from the new Garland Stripes and Dots paper pad, the snowy rooftop with the white glitter paper from the new Holiday Glitter pad, and the back of the cabin from regular white paper coloured with Copic markers to give colours to the windows and door. More trees were die cut with the Small Pine Tree Collage die.
The hilly insert is a 5.25”x2” MM strip scored at 1/2” from each end and the slope was hand cut. Attached the cabin and trees to it.
The “snowy” sky is a 4.25” square piece from the Springtime Bouquet Stripes and Dots paper pad. I trimmed it down slightly just so it wouldn’t interfere with the folds. The sentiment from Mistletoe Swag stamp set was white heat embossed onto a black strip. Assembled the card to finish.
The finished card size is 4.25”x4.25”x1”. It flattens to 4.25”x5.25” and fits easily into a standard A2 size envelope.
Just a quick reminder there is still plenty of time to enter this month’s Happy Holidays challenge. Thank you for joining me today. Have a wonderful weekend.

Beautiful card, like the combination of the collage dies, the background snowy scene paper is a great addition, too!
