Hello everyone. I intended to create a get well card for a friend, but things took a turn quite quickly and after six long brave years of battling cancer, she unfortunately succumbed to the disease a couple of weeks ago. With the pandemic, I was not able to visit or go to her funeral. She leaves behind a wonderful husband and I wanted to honour both her and support him, so I made this clean and simple (CAS) sympathy card using a mix of products from the releases so far this year.
I started by placing a piece of vellum into the Gracious Leaves 3D embossing folder (EF) and ran it through my Big Shot machine.
I find dry embossing with vellum works better with thick vellum, but I’m out of it and only had medium weight vellum left. So to make the design more prominent, I flipped the vellum over and dry embossed it with a stylus on a foam mat. Had to be careful not to press too hard at the risk of tearing the vellum.
Next, a heart opening was die cut from a Bristol panel using Double Stitch Loving Heart Cut Out die. The embossed vellum was then adhered behind it and excess trimmed away. A piece of green pattern paper from the Garden Folly paper pack backed the vellum to give some contrast. For a little sparkle, clear shimmer was added onto the vellum. Unfortunately, this warped it a bit... but it just adds more dimension and interest (I hope 😬).
The sentiment is from Peony Garden Corner stamp set. Heartfelt was masked off leaving HUGS to be inked with VersaMark and stamped onto black cardstock. It was heat embossed with white embossing powder then trimmed into a strip. The opposite was done for heartfelt, except it was fussy cut out. The butterflies from Butterfly Heart Frame were then die cut from white shimmer paper and mounted with foam tape. Added a drop of Mint Frost glitter glue to the butterfly center to finish.
Anyway, that does it for me. Thank you for stopping by. Enjoy your weekend!

Your embossed vellum leaves make such a pretty design inside the cutout heart, Trina! Wonderful texture and interest! The black and white sentiment keep it from being too feminine and the butterflies speak of rebirth. All perfect for a sympathy card!
