Create a Wide Washi Tape Background Border by Jean Okimoto

Layer the Cascadia Background Strip over the Cornelia Aqua Wide Washi Tape to create a bold border for the Splendid Poppy Stems.  The washi tape has so many pretty colors  it's easy to find matching inks for the poppies.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with more designs from our Garden Party Collection.

Cut Splendid Poppy Stems from the smoother side of Open Studio Watercolor Paper.  Give it a light spritz of water to help blend the inks, then sponge it with Distress Oxides. The colors used here are carved pumpkin, worn lipstick, squeezed lemonade and mowed lawn.

Cut a 3-¾" x 5-⅝" rectangle of smooth white cardstock.  Cut it with the new Cascadia Background Strip.  Attach a strip of Cornelia Aqua Wide Washi Tape to printer paper -  it's lighter than cardstock and the edges won't show under the rectangle.  Attach it behind the rectangle.

Stamp the greeting - from the new Peony Garden Corner Clear Stamps and Die Set - with VersaFine Clair Shady Lane.

Attach everything to a white A-6 card.  Add ¼" punched circles of yellow glitter cardstock from the Twinkling Jewel Glitter Pad.  Accent the flowers with Open Studio Sour Apple Glitter Glue.

I love the pretty mix of blue and orange flowers on the Cornelia Aqua Wide Washi Tape. It's fresh and different - and looks like it'll be a great match for the new speckled egg Distress Oxide inkpad.

Thanks for visiting - see you again this weekend!

Layered Stencilling
by Trina Pham

A34DD87B-0E50-4B0D-A02F-E550C358527A

Hello everyone.  I don’t have my new Garden Party products yet, so I’m sharing another simple card made with more products from the Spring release.

My card was prompted by the Layered Stencilling theme over at CAS Stencil card challenge.  Started by die cutting a circle stencil from masking paper using Circle Basics die.  Adhered it to a Bristol panel and ink blended on Scattered Straw, Picked Raspberry and Seedless Preserves distress inks (di) using blending brushes.

The Midnight Mandala stencil from Birch Press Designs was then layered over top and more of the same inks were applied over that stencil.  Removed the stencils and this is what resulted.

For some shimmer, the panel was spritz with a sparkle spray (couldn’t capture it in the photo, but it’s really pretty IRL).

Next, the Pretty Blossom Stem was die cut three times from Bristol paper and stacked for dimension.  The sentiment from Wild Rose Stem stamp set was black heat embossed directly on the panel.  Assembled the card onto a slightly textured A2 piece to finish.

That does it for me.  Thank you for dropping by.  Have a wonderful day!

Celebrate
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_0913

Good morning everyone!

My card for today features some dies from the new Memory Box Garden Party release.

IMG_0915

To make this card I die cut the Diagonal Stripe twice on black cardstock.  I trimmed the die cut piece and glued it to white cardstock.  I matted the white cardstock with black paper and used foam tape to adhere it to a white cardbase.

I die cut the word Celebrate from black cardstock and glued it to my card.

Next I stamped my flowers and leaves onto watercolor paper and painted them with Zig Clean Color Brush Markers.  I used colored pencils to deepen the shading on the painted images.  I fussy cut the flowers and leaves and glued them to my card.

IMG_0911

To finish the card I used a white gel pen to add some dots to the flower centers and highlights to the leaves and flowers. Next I added Black Nuvo drops to the centers of the flowers to finish the card.

I hope you all have a great week and thanks for stopping by!

Peonies from the New Garden Party Collection
by Anne Thompson

There are so many lovely items in the new Garden Party Collection that I had a difficult time trying to decide which things to focus on for this post.  I finally chose the PEONY GARDEN CORNER Clear Stamp and Dies Set CL5255-D, along with VersaFine Clair Nocturne (black) ink, Kuretake watercolors, and paper from the GARDEN FOLLY paper pad to make this card.

IMG_2475-ink

I used Memory Box WATERCOLOR PAPER WP101 and stamped and painted five of the single blossom and five of the largest bud/leaf, using different reds for each peony and two or three greens on the leaves.  I then cut them out using the coordinating dies.

IMG_2461-ink

IMG_2467-ink

I looked through the new 6X6 paper pad GARDEN FOLLY PP1005 to find a coordinating paper and chose a red plaid which I cut 5 1/4 X 4 and added to the front of a white notecard.  I used three peonies each with a leaf cluster on the front of the card.

IMG_2468-ink

I used the leftover paper strip inside the notecard, added one of the peonies and two leaf clusters (the second one covers an ink smudge) and stamped "thank you" from the same stamp set.

IMG_2472-ink

IMG_2475-ink

And because I had everything out on the table I decided to try stamping on glitter paper which I had not done before.   I used the same stamps and ink and two papers from the DELICATE PASTEL GLITTER PAD GP1001 to stamp and die cut more peonies and bud/leaf clusters.  I like how the black ink looked more gray on the pastel glitter papers.  (I did try stamping the bud/leaf on a brighter green scrap from the Jewel pad but the ink didn't really show up.)

IMG_2464

I used a pretty green paper from the Garden Folly pad and added it to a top-fold notecard.  I placed three blooms and leaf clusters on the front.
IMG_2464

And I added the other two blossoms/leaves on the strip of leftover paper, placed that inside the notecard, and stamped "thank you" to finish it up.
IMG_2464

Check out this stamp/dies set...sentiments for so many occasions and beautiful flowers suitable for many many different techniques.  There's even a butterfly!

Be sure to look at all of the products here to see everything in the Garden Party Collection!

Happy Crafting!

Washi Tape and the new Garden Party Release
by Laura Fulcher

IMG_2528

Greetings friends.  I am joining you again today, and this time I want to talk about the new washi tapes.  There are 3 new washi tapes available in two sizes (wide and 1").  Here are the designs:

Variegated-

Cornelia

Violet-

Cornelia violet

Aqua-

Cornelia variegated

I chose to work with the wide Aqua for my card.  I love the wide washi tape size because it is fantastic for home decor on glass, notebooks, frames, etc.  If you use it on cards, it is great because it changes color depending on what color of cardstock you use underneath it.  That makes the washi tape really versatile for cardmaking.  I wanted the washi on my pattern be very vibrant, so I placed it on top of some white cardstock.  Here is a close up of the washi piece as well as the new patterned paper I paired with it:

IMG_2531

I used the same papers from the Garden Folly pack I used yesterday, so now I have two cards that coordinate with each other.  I would like to make a couple more from the same pack so that I will have four cards that would make a nice gift set of cards:

IMG_2533

There is something so satisfying about cards that coordinate with each other.

To finish my card, I added the celebrate die along with a stamped sentiment.  The flowers and leaves are from the Magnolia Double Arch die.  That die set makes a really beautiful floral circle, but I cut the pieces apart so that I could layer the flowers on top of each other and add some of the leaves for the background.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Patterned Papers and the new Garden Party Release
by Laura Fulcher

IMG_2517

Greetings friends.  Memory Box has a brand new release called Garden Party, and it has lots of dies, washi tape, embossing folders and stamps that focus on flowers and celebrations.  Today I wanted to focus on the latest 6" x 6" paper pack:

IMG_2521

I absolutely love the patterns and colors in this pack.  One of the things I like about the 6" x 6" packs is that the patterns are smaller and specifically scaled to look good on cards.

For my tulip card, I used several patterns from the pack and paired them with the Tulip Trio Frame dies.  I would also like to point out a feature of the new Memory Box dies that I really like.....they are already cut out for you!  By that, I mean that you don't have to use your wire cutters to cut the dies apart from each other and then use a file to file down the little metal nubs that are left.  Here is a close up of the dies in the pack:

IMG_2522

I really hate cutting frames apart, so I was very happy to not have to cut these.

Once I paper pieced my card, I added a sentiment and then added a little R20 and R22 Copic marker to the tulip petals to add some dimension:

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

The Garden Party release has arrived!  It's an amazing collection of great new dies, clear stamp sets, papers, embossing folders and washi tapes. Hi, Jean Okimoto here with the first of many Garden Party cards we'll share with you in the next few weeks.

MemoryBoxGardenPartyCollection, MemoryBoxGardenParty, MemoryBoxScribbleRoseTrioAndBackground, MemoryBoxBubbleCircles, MemoryBoxPeonyGardenCornerClearStampandDieSet, MemoryBoxTwinklingJewelGlitterPad, MemoryBoxGardenFolly6x6Pack, MemoryBoxRectangleBasics, ImagineCraftsMBoss, FlowerDiecucts, CircleDies,JeanOkimoto, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Attach Scor-Tape to the top of yellow cardstock and diecut the solid Scribble Rose Trio Background.  Cut the detailed Scribble Rose Trio from green cardstock.  Attach the background securely behind the detailed diecut.  Heat-emboss the remaining exposed adhesive with Imagine Crafts YellowMboss.  The tape adheres the background to the detailed diecut - and holds the embossing powder in place for heating.

Cut the largest Bubble Circle from the leafy green Garden Folly 6x6 print.

Stamp the greeting - from  the Peony Garden Corner Clear Stamp and Die set - on the pale green Garden Folly 6x6 print with VersaFine Clair Shady Lane.  Attach everything to a white A-6 card - use foam tape for the greeting.  Add ¼" punched circles of the green glitter cardstock in the Twinkling Jewel Glitter Pad.

Dreamy Butterfly and the Butterfly Heart Frame by Jean Okimoto

P1150566

Blend a bright Open Studio Watercolor Paper background for the Butterfly Heart Frame - then top it with a glittery Dreamy Butterfly. Add a greeting from the Wild Rose Stem Clear Stamp Set.  Butterfly season is approaching - Memory Box has a great collection of butterfly dies, 6x6 prints and glittered cardstock for every occasion.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a simple design to create in your favorite colors.

Spritz the textured side of Open Studio Watercolor Paper with a light mist of water.  Sponge it with loose, overlapping layers of Distress Oxides.  I used shaded lilac, cracked pistachio, twisted citron, peacock feathers and squeezed lemonade.  The water helps helps blend the inks and eliminates dark starting points.  Dry the inks.  Cut it with the 3-¾" x 5" Rectangle Basics die. Splatter it with Imagine Crafts Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz.

Scrunch waxed paper and rub it briskly over the Butterfly Heart Frame to help release the delicate diecut. Cut the frame from smooth  white cardstock.  Cut purple and turquoise butterflies with the coordinating die.

Cut Dreamy Butterfly from the violet glittered cardstock in the Twinkling Jewel Glitter Pad.  The cardstock is actually brighter and redder than it appears here.  Cut the butterfly body and antennae with the die from the Gloriosa Butterfly Duo Outlines set.

Stamp the greeting - from the Wild Rose Stem clear stamps set - on white cardstock with VersaFine Clair Purple Delight.  Quickly emboss it with detail clear powder.  Cut it with the smallest die from Rectangle Basics.

Attach everything to a side-folded 5-½" square white card - use foam tape for the right half of the greeting strip.  Add ¼" punched circles of the green glittered cardstock from the Twinkling Jewel 6x6 pack.

A Glittery Thanks
by Michelle Bala

49

Hello there! Michelle here, sharing a very glittery Thank You card! I used the Twinkling Jewel Glitter Pad, Seaside Thanks Die, and Double Stitch Rectangle Cut Out Die.
49

I used the rectangle dies to cut 4 pieces of glitter paper and than alternated the colors when adhering to the card base, leaving out the center panel of the die cut. You can use these for another project. It is easier to lay the rectangles inside each other than flip over and secure it with foam tape from behind.
49

Trim a piece of black cardstock and lay diagonal from edge to edge across the glitter paper. Adhere with liquid glue. I die cut the word Thanks twice and adhered one in the center and the other I used for either end.

That's all for me today! Thanks for stopping by!

Wishing You the Best
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_0898

Hello everyone!  Today's card features the Chrysanthemum Field 3D-Embossing Folder.  To create this card I placed a piece of black cardstock into my folder and ran it through my die cutting machine.  I rubbed across the paper with Distress Oxide ink and used my finger to lightly blend the ink.  I dried the paper and rubbed across it with another color distress ink to deepen the color.

IMG_0881

I placed the smallest heart from the Double Stitched Loving Heart die set on my inked paper.  Save the cut out heart to use later for another card.  I glued my background to a white card base. Next I die cut the shadow background from the Wishing Jotted Script die with white cardstock and the word Wishing from pink striped paper.  I ended up inking the word wishing with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide Ink to deepen the color. I glued the word on top of the white shadow piece.

IMG_0900

I stamped and white embossed the sentiment on a strip of black cardstock and matted it to a piece of white cardstock.  I glued this to my card front and adhered the word wishing above it.

That's it for this card.  I also have a picture of the card I made using the leftovers from this card.

IMG_0902

The background paper on this card was the same paper I used to die cut the word wishing and the heart was the cut out from the first card.
