Garden Party Pocket Card
by Anne Thompson

Here's a pocket card with a panel insert that uses several coordinating papers from the new Garden Folly 6X6 paper pack PP1005 and stamps and their coordinating dies from the Peony Garden Corner clear stamps and dies set  CL5255-D.

To construct the pocket:

  • Start with a basic notecard 5 1/2 X 4 1/4.
  • On the front mark 1" in from the top left and up 1" from the bottom right.  Open the card flat and cut the diagonal line between the two points.

  • Discard the triangle slice.
  • The next step is to paper the inside of the notecard with a piece of decorative paper 4 X 5 1/4.
  • Then you can add adhesive to the inside of the card front on the 1" piece at the top, along the bottom edge, and up the other 1" side.  I used really narrow Scor-Tape.

  • Remove the adhesive tape backing and press it against the inside of the card to seal it and create the pocket.
  • Add a coordinating piece of decorative paper to the front.  I began with a piece 4 X 5 1/4, measured in 3/4" from the top left edge and up 3/4" from the bottom right corner, then cut the diagonal line between the two points.

To create the panel that tucks into the pocket:

  • Start with a piece of white cardstock cut 3 X 4 1/2.
  • Add another coordinating decorative paper piece cut 2 3/4 X 4 1/4.

Stamping and die cutting:

  • I used VersaFine Clair Nocturne (black) ink and stamped directly onto the insert panel, a butterfly and three blossoms and "THANK YOU" from the Peony Garden Corner set.
  • I also stamped another butterfly and three blossoms on white cardstock and used the coordinating dies to cut them out.
  • I used glue dots to adhere the die cuts to the front of the card pocket.

Once the panel is tucked into the pocket, only the butterfly is visible.  There is plenty of room on the back of the panel to add a note.

When I'm stamping on a card, I often use the same images on the envelope to hint at the contents within.  So I did that as well.

I hope you are getting some crafting time in and have been able to secure some of the newest goodies.  This Garden Party Collection is absolutely lovely!

Happy Crafting!
