I've been trying out different kinds of folds using both cardstock and printed papers to change up the forms of cards I've made this last week. For today's post I created a card with a sentiment panel tucked into a pocket which with just two simple folds provided several surfaces for showcasing a bunch of coordinated papers from both SPRINGTIME BOUQUET PP1006 and SPRINGTIME BOUQUET STRIPES AND DOTS PP1007 6X6 paper pads.
This is what this card looks like with the flap closed and held in place by the tab.
And this is what you see when you open the top flap.
materials used and procedures
- cut white cardstock 8 1/2 X 5 1/2
- score it at 2 1/2 and 6 1/2; use a bone folder to get a nice crease on each fold line; the wider flap is at the top
- cut and adhere printed paper for the top flap 5 1/4 X 2 1/4, one for the outside and another for the inside of the flap
- cut and adhere printed paper for the outside of the bottom flap 5 1/4 X 1 3/4
- for the inside of the card between the fold lines, cut and adhere patterned paper 5 1/4 X 3 3/4
- with the card opened flat, attach Score-Tape or another sturdy adhesive to the side edges of the bottom flap and fold it up to create the pocket
- to make the tab that holds the pocket card closed, cut white cardstock and printed papers using two sizes from the MATINEE RECTANGLE LAYERS 94438 and attach it on the back only at the very bottom edge of the larger rectangle with Scor-Tape or another sturdy adhesive
- for the sentiment panel that tucks into the pocket, cut white cardstock 4 1/2 X 3 1/4
- stamp "Spring is a time..." sentiment from Poppystamps SPRINGTIME FUN CL 491 using Versafine Tuxedo Black ink
- cut PRETTY BLOSSOM STEM 94422 from bright yellow glitter paper from the TWINKLING JEWEL GLITTER PAD GP1003 and adhere it using glue dots or glue next to the sentiment; trim it to fit
You might add paper to the sentiment panel before stamping and decorating it. You might also add another sentiment or a die cut to the tab on the front of the card. Or you could omit the tab and add other stamped or die cut images on the flaps. You could use other color combinations and different floral die cuts or butterflies. I could go on and on with suggestions because I think there are so many possible ways to decorate this card inside and out.
Happy Crafting!
Really pretty card and the new design is a nice change of pace!
