Frame glittered Splendid Poppy Stems with embossed Double Stitch Rectangle Cut Outs for a quick spring card.  The Cottage Meadow 6x6 background creates a fresh garden backdrop for the poppies and scattered Cherry Blossom Elements.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here - welcome to Day 4 of our 2020 Spring Collection blog blitz!

Cut the Cottage Meadow 6x6 print with the largest Double Stitch Rectangle Cut Out die.  Emboss the rectangle with the next three dies (evenly spread apart and taped together) to form a  frame for the poppies.

Cut Splendid Poppy Stems from green cardstock.  Cut the flower tops from the pink Delicate Pastel Glitter Pack. Attach it to the green diecuts - slightly offset for dimension.  Cut the double-layered flower tops off, then re-attach them slightly lower, creating shorter stems to fit our background.

Cut Cherry Blossom Elements with the light pink 6x6 glitter sheet.  Attach three little blossoms to the border.

Stamp the greeting - from the Cherry Blosssom Wreath Clear Stamps Set - on white cardstock with black ink.

Attach the background and diecuts to a white A-2 card.  Add ¼" dots punched from the lime green Twinkling Jewel Glitter Pad.  Attach the greeting with foam tape. Add dots of Lemon Drop Open Studio Fairy Sugar to the flowers.

Springtime Birthday Wishes with Cherry Blossom Frame and Cherry Blossom Branches
by Anne Thompson

It's Day Three of the 2020 Spring Release Blog Blitz!  All week, through Sunday February 23rd, we on the Design Team will be featuring some of the newest products and offering some up as prizes.  Just comment on each post to be eligible to win that day's give-away.

When I think of spring I remember the cherry blossoms one year long ago in Washington, DC.  Once they begin to bloom each year  I know that spring in Maine can't be far behind.  I was happy to see so many cherry blossom dies in the 2020 Spring Release--Cherry Blossom Frame, Cherry Blossom Wreath, Cherry Blossom Elements, Cherry Blossom Bracket, and Cherry Blossom Branches.  There's even a Cherry Blossom Wreath clear stamps and coordinating dies set!  You can see them all here.

For today's Birthday Wishes card I chose to combine the Cherry Blossom Frame and the Cherry Blossom Branches with some pale pink glitter paper and Bubblegum Dots paper.

IMG_2253

  • CHERRY BLOSSOM FRAME 94427  the separate large frame cut from pale pink glitter paper--I used only the center rectangle and saved the narrow frame for another project.

IMG_2251

  • DELICATE PASTEL GLITTER PAD GP1001, one sheet of pale pink glitter paper
  • I used Scor-Tape 1/8" to adhere the frame to the glitter paper and a tape runner to secure the panel to the papered notecard.
  • You can see in the photo below on the left where I tucked in one of the Cherry Blossom Branches behind the one in the frame, held in place with a Glue Dot.

IMG_2256

  • "birthday wishes" from CHERRY BLOSSOM WREATH CLEAR STAMP AND DIE SET CL5256-D
  • stamped with VersaFine Clair Nocturne black ink on white cardstock, added to the papered inside of the notecard with the other Cherry Blossom branch; added some pearls to the blossom centers

IMG_2261

Then I went to the front of the card and added pearls on those blossoms as well.  You can really see the shimmer of the glitter paper in this next photo.

IMG_2262

This is a card design that can be used for many occasions just by changing up the sentiment inside or on the front panel.

This second card uses "greetings" from the same stamp/die set, stamped in black ink on white cardstock, mounted on a scrap of Bubblegum Dots paper, and placed inside the Cherry Blossom Frame.  I used Scor-Tape to secure it to the glitter paper.  I raised up the frame panel with dimensional foam tape and secured the Cherry Blossom Branches behind it using Glue Dots.  Again I papered the inside of the card with more of the Bubblegum Dots paper and added a white cardstock panel 3 X 4.25 where I will write my message.

Want your own CHERRY BLOSSOM FRAME die?  Leave a comment for me about this post before 11:59 pm EST on Sunday, February 23rd.  One comment will be chosen at random to win the die.  Winners will be announced on the blog on Monday, February 24th at 6pm EST.  Good luck!

Happy crafting!

Happy Easter

IMG_0631

Hello everyone!  Today is day 2 of the Memory Box Blog Blitz.  There are so many great products in spring release, including new stencils, embossing folders, glitter glues, papers, and of course dies and stamps.  Make sure you check back each day this week to see the designers posts and leave a comment for a chance to win a prize.

For my card today I created a background using Distress Oxide Inks.  Once I was happy with the background I placed my stencil on top of the paper and used a baby wipe to remove some of the ink.  It gave the background a really soft look.

IMG_0628

Next I die cut the Lacework Egg in the center of the background paper.  I glued the background to a white card base.  I die cut the egg again from pink glitter paper and glued the die cut to egg cut out on the card.  I added some twinkle glitter glue to the egg and die cut the words from the same color glitter paper.

IMG_0629

To finish the card I added some sequins to embellish it.

IMG_0633

Want to win the new Lacework Egg die?  Leave a comment to this post before 11:59 pm EST on Sunday, February 23rd.  One comment will be chosen at random to win the die.  Winners will be announced on the blog on Monday, February 24th at 6 pm EST.  Good luck!

Blog Blitz Begins Today
by Laura Fulcher

IMG_2381

Greetings friends.  Memory Box has a lot of newly released products and we will be focusing on them this week starting today (Monday, February 17th) and going through Sunday (February 23rd).  Every designer this week will also be offering one of the new products as a prize.  All you have to do is leave comments for a chance to win.

I really wanted to focus on glitter today.  Specifically, I want to talk about the new glitter papers and glitter glue as well as a technique I like to do with glitter glue and acetate.

Memory Box has two new glitter 6" x 6" paper packs.  One of them is called Delicate Pastel and the other is Twinkling Jewel.  Both paper packs include 24 heavy weight sheets (12 colors per pack/2 sheets per color).  The best part?  The glitter does NOT come off onto your fingers!  Your card recipients will not be covered in sparkle.

Another thing I like about the paper?  The glitter glues look fantastic when paired with the papers.  Look how closely these colors match.  You could add a layer of glitter paper to your card and then coordinate it with a glitter glue:

IMG_2377

For my card today, I used some patterned paper for the background and a piece of glitter paper behind the egg opening.  It is hard to tell from the picture, but there is a piece of acetate behind the egg opening for extra support and the white die cut is popped up on top of the glitter paper with foam tape.

IMG_2374

To make the eggs, I wanted to use one of my favorite acetate/glitter glue techniques.  I love the look of acetate, but it is often difficult to figure out how to adhere it to a card so that the adhesive doesn't show.  In this case, I used the glitter glue as the adhesive, so you are meant to see the glue.

IMG_2370

I cut out eggs with white cardstock and acetate.

IMG_2371

I then added a blob of glue to the center of the white cardstock and then stuck the acetate on top.  Notice that I didn't bother spreading out the glue.  I just let the acetate spread out the glue when I place it on top.  It will take a bit of time for it to dry before you can adhere the eggs to the card.  I love using this technique to make shiny butterfly or dragonfly wings.  You could use colored cardstock instead of the white, but I let the colored glitter glue do all of the work and I ended up with specked shiny eggs.

Want to win the new Bunny Egg Collage die?  Leave a comment to this post before 11:59 pm EST on Sunday, February 23rd.  One comment will be chosen at random to win the die.  Winners will be announced on the blog on Monday, February 24th at 6pm EST.  Good luck!

New Double Stitch Rectangle Cut Out, Rose Bouquet Washi Tape and Vivid Blooms by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBox2020SpringCollection, MemoryBoxDoubleStitchRectangleCutOut, MemoryBoxSunflowerWreathClearStamps, MemoryBoxRoseBouquetWideWashiTape, MemoryBoxTwinklingJewelGlitter6x6Pad, BirchPressDesignVividBloomStitchedLayerSet, JeanOkimoto, DiecutFlowers, FlowerDiecuts, WashiTape, WideWashiTape, GlitterCardstock, DiecutWashiTape, NestingFlowerDiecuts, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

The new Rose Bouquet Wide Washi Tape makes it easy to create cards for any occasion.  Add a quick greeting and some Twinkling Jewel Glitter Pad dots and your card is done!  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a fresh floral design from our 2020 Spring Collection.

MemoryBox2020SpringCollection, MemoryBoxDoubleStitchRectangleCutOut, MemoryBoxSunflowerWreathClearStamps, MemoryBoxRoseBouquetWideWashiTape, MemoryBoxTwinklingJewelGlitter6x6Pad, BirchPressDesignVividBloomStitchedLayerSet, JeanOkimoto, DiecutFlowers, FlowerDiecuts, WashiTape, WideWashiTape, GlitterCardstock, DiecutWashiTape, NestingFlowerDiecuts, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Attach Rose Bouquet Wide Washi Tape to pale peach cardstock and diecut the smallest and second-largest flowers from the Birch Press Design Vivid Bloom Stitched Layer Set.  Diecutting the tape ensures clean, crisp edges  - and a delicate stitched pattern to match the green background rectangle.

MemoryBox2020SpringCollection, MemoryBoxDoubleStitchRectangleCutOut, MemoryBoxSunflowerWreathClearStamps, MemoryBoxRoseBouquetWideWashiTape, MemoryBoxTwinklingJewelGlitter6x6Pad, BirchPressDesignVividBloomStitchedLayerSet, JeanOkimoto, DiecutFlowers, FlowerDiecuts, WashiTape, WideWashiTape, GlitterCardstock, DiecutWashiTape, NestingFlowerDiecuts, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Here's a tip I learned from Dave Brethauer...attach something to the torn or cut edge of wide washi tape. It keeps the end visible and minimizes wrinkling when you're using it.  It can also be used as a straight edge to tear the tape. I use strips of those lightweight kitchen cutting mats from the dollar store or Ikea.

Cut green cardstock with the 2.1" x 3.3" Double Stitch Rectangle Cut Out die.  Pressure-emboss the inner rectangle with the 1.6" x 2.8" die.

Stamp "greetings" - from the Sunflower Wreath Clear Stamp Set - on white cardstock with VersaFine Clair Nocturne. Attach the pieces to a side-folded white A2 card.  Add ¼" punched circles of the green sheet from the Twinkling Jewel Glitter Pad.

MemoryBox2020SpringCollection, MemoryBoxDoubleStitchRectangleCutOut, MemoryBoxSunflowerWreathClearStamps, MemoryBoxRoseBouquetWideWashiTape, MemoryBoxTwinklingJewelGlitter6x6Pad, BirchPressDesignVividBloomStitchedLayerSet, JeanOkimoto, DiecutFlowers, FlowerDiecuts, WashiTape, WideWashiTape, GlitterCardstock, DiecutWashiTape, NestingFlowerDiecuts, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Hope you'll add a roll of this beautiful floral tape to your stash.  Its soft watercolored look will enhance any card and it's great layered over different shades of cardstock.  I like it best layered over medium shades - not too light, not too dark.

I'll be using the Stitched Bloom Set I bought for a lot of my classes too.  It's a classic, versatile design that's perfect for any occasion and coordinates with all of the stitched dies in my stash.

Join us for the BRIGHTER DAYS AHEAD class at Impress if you're in the Seattle area and have a holiday on Monday.  We'll be using the Whittles, Scribbles and Stacking Dies from Poppystamps, Memory Box and Birch Press Design - AND a lot of the just-released items from our 2020 Spring Collection.  Enjoy the 10% class shopping  discount - it'll be a great time to save on everything you want from our latest release.

Thanks for visiting...see you again on Thursday!

Watercolor Stencil Print Technique
by Laura Fulcher

IMG_2364

Greetings friends.  Today I to talk about how to combine watercolor paint and the stencil of your choice to create a decorative background.  Memory Box, Poppystamps and Birch Press Design all have new releases of stencils, so I thought this would be the perfect time to show you one method for using the beautiful patterns.

IMG_2357

To begin, I took a piece of the new Memory Box watercolor paper and taped it to a heavy piece of chipboard using some washi tape.  The new watercolor paper is a thick 140lb paper that resists warping.  I taped it down to really keep it flat, even if I ended up using a ton of water.

IMG_2360

Next, I wet my watercolor paper in a free-form shape with some water and a paintbrush and then added some blue and green watercolor paint to the pre-wet area.  I used Peerless watercolor paints, but you could use absolutely any paint you like.  I wanted to give the impression of grass and sky without actually painting distinct lines.

IMG_2361

While the paint was still wet, I placed my stencil (Birch Press Design Ring Tile stencil) on top and then placed some heavy objects onto the edges of my stencil to hold it down onto the paint.  Don't worry if the stencil pops up a bit in places.  With this technique, you will have some areas with distinct patterns and some areas where the stencil didn't make great contact with the paper.  I think you will find that the finished piece looks great with the variety of impressions you will get.

Let the stencil and paint air dry.  This will take 30 minutes or so.  It really depends on how much water you use.  I would recommend letting the stencil dry naturally so that you don't burn your stencil with a heat gun or hair dryer and you don't move the paint around trying to blow it dry.

IMG_2362

When your piece is dry and you remove your stencil, you are left with a patterned watercolor background.  Think of all the possibilities you can create by changing colors and stencil patterns!

IMG_2369

To finish the card, I added my floral die cut, some brand new Fairy Sugar glitter glue for dimension and interest, and a sentiment tied with a bow.

I hope you will give the technique a try.  My advice is to do several backgrounds at once and give yourself some space to have them air dry.  The backgrounds are a fantastic thing to have on hand when you need to make a quick card.

Be Mine Card
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_0616

Hello everyone! Today I have one last Valentine's Day card for you.  It's a pretty simple design that you can make at the last minute.

I created this card by embossing white cardstock with the Pinpoint Leaf Plate die and adhered it to a red card base.

Next I created a blended background on white cardstock using Distress Oxide inks.  I die cut the Leafy Heart from that background and glued it to my card front.

IMG_0610

IMG_0611

I stamped the sentiment with Versa Ink and heat embossed it with red embossing powder. I trimmed the paper and glued it to a red cardstock mat. I used foam tape to adhere it to my card.

IMG_0617

To finish the card I added a few clear epoxy dew drops.

I hope you have a great Valentine's Day!

Thanks for stopping by today!
