Dreamy Butterfly and the Butterfly Heart Frame by Jean Okimoto

P1150566

Blend a bright Open Studio Watercolor Paper background for the Butterfly Heart Frame - then top it with a glittery Dreamy Butterfly. Add a greeting from the Wild Rose Stem Clear Stamp Set.  Butterfly season is approaching - Memory Box has a great collection of butterfly dies, 6x6 prints and glittered cardstock for every occasion.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a simple design to create in your favorite colors.

Spritz the textured side of Open Studio Watercolor Paper with a light mist of water.  Sponge it with loose, overlapping layers of Distress Oxides.  I used shaded lilac, cracked pistachio, twisted citron, peacock feathers and squeezed lemonade.  The water helps helps blend the inks and eliminates dark starting points.  Dry the inks.  Cut it with the 3-¾" x 5" Rectangle Basics die. Splatter it with Imagine Crafts Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz.

Scrunch waxed paper and rub it briskly over the Butterfly Heart Frame to help release the delicate diecut. Cut the frame from smooth  white cardstock.  Cut purple and turquoise butterflies with the coordinating die.

Cut Dreamy Butterfly from the violet glittered cardstock in the Twinkling Jewel Glitter Pad.  The cardstock is actually brighter and redder than it appears here.  Cut the butterfly body and antennae with the die from the Gloriosa Butterfly Duo Outlines set.

Stamp the greeting - from the Wild Rose Stem clear stamps set - on white cardstock with VersaFine Clair Purple Delight.  Quickly emboss it with detail clear powder.  Cut it with the smallest die from Rectangle Basics.

Attach everything to a side-folded 5-½" square white card - use foam tape for the right half of the greeting strip.  Add ¼" punched circles of the green glittered cardstock from the Twinkling Jewel 6x6 pack.

A Glittery Thanks
by Michelle Bala

49

Hello there! Michelle here, sharing a very glittery Thank You card! I used the Twinkling Jewel Glitter Pad, Seaside Thanks Die, and Double Stitch Rectangle Cut Out Die.
49

I used the rectangle dies to cut 4 pieces of glitter paper and than alternated the colors when adhering to the card base, leaving out the center panel of the die cut. You can use these for another project. It is easier to lay the rectangles inside each other than flip over and secure it with foam tape from behind.
49

Trim a piece of black cardstock and lay diagonal from edge to edge across the glitter paper. Adhere with liquid glue. I die cut the word Thanks twice and adhered one in the center and the other I used for either end.

That's all for me today! Thanks for stopping by!

A Bouquet for Mom
by Michelle Bala

28

Michelle here! Happy to be sharing the Mother's Day card I created for my mom!!  But first, Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful moms!!!
25
I started by stamping a piece of Copic friendly paper repeatedly with the Birthday Rose Corner stamp. I pretty much covered the paper. At this point I wasn't sure what size card I was going for, so I colored up most of the flowers. I'll have enough left over for another card.

26

When I color large spaces I stick with one color group at a time. For the magenta color flowers I used Copic shades RV63, RV66, RV69, RV99. For the blue flowers I used B21, B63, B66. For the berries I used shades E70, RV93, RV95.

27

The yellow roses I used Y11, Y13, Y21, Y17. The peach roses I used R01, E93, R22. For the pointed leaves I used YG23, YG17, BG99. For the rounded leaves I used YG91, G43, G46.

30

I decided to trim up a piece of the colored florals to 3 1/4 x 8 1/4. I colored the background with BG10. Than I added some splatters with gold and white paint. I trimmed a piece of black cardstock to fit the card base of 3 1/2 x 8 1/2 and adhered the floral background.

29

I used Vintage Varsity Alphabet Dies and Twinkling Jewel Glitter Paper Pad to cut the words 'For You Mom' and adhered them with foam adhesive.  For a finishing touch I added some gems.

Hope you have a great day! Stay safe!

Stylish Rectangle Trio and 11” of Sunset Blush Wide Washi Tape by Jean Okimoto

 P1150460 2
Make three friendship cards with the Stylish Rectangle Trio and just 11" of Sunset Blush Wide Washi Tape.  Eleven wasn't a magic number - it's just the cardstock length.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here - hope it's the start of a creative weekend for you.

P1150435 2

Here's a tip - that bright blue piece stuck to the tape is a strip of a thin kitchen cutting board.  It keeps the tape from wrinkling and sticking to itself.  It's also a great edge to tear the tape.  And the flat area keeps the tape from rolling away, off the desk and onto the floor!

Attach Sunset Rose Wide Washi Tape to pink cardstock and cut the Stylish Rectangle Trio.

Stamp the greetings - from the Wild Rose Stem Clear Stamps and Die Set - on natural white cardstock with Shady Lane VersaFine Clair.  Dry the ink, then cut the cardstock with dies from the Rectangle Basics set. Cut the "THANKS for always being there" strip with a larger die, then trim the excess from the bottom edge.

P1150439

Washi tapes often have a waxy surface that won't work with some adhesives.  Here's a tip ...before attaching the washi tape diecut to the card, cut and remove some of the washi tape with the smallest Rectangle Basics die.  Attach the foam tape to the card itself.  Attach the greeting strip to the foam tape.

Cut coordinating accent strips from the brown and dark green Dashing Stripes and Dots 6x6 prints.  Cut strips from the pink and dark teal Cottage and Stripes and Dots 6x6 prints.

Attach the pieces to A-6 and A-2 cards of natural white cardstock.  Cut hexagon accents with the Honeycomb Square and green glitter cardstock from the Twinkling Jewel 6x6 Glitter Pad.

There are many ways to use the new Sunset Blush Wide Washi Tape - it's great on peach or yellow cardstock too.  Try different cardstock colors and other sections of the washi tape.  The print repeats about every 14 inches - lots of tape for all of your projects!

Thanks for visiting...hope you're enjoying the cards we've created to keep you inspired during these challenging times...

Softly-blended colors and shimmery ink highlight the dimension and texture of the Serene Mandala 3D Embossing Folder.  There are so many ways to use this great folder.  Hello, Jean Okimoto here with a quick, inky technique to highlight the beautiful details of this folder.

Cut Memory Box Open Studio Watercolor Paper with the 3-¾" x 5" Rectangle Basics die.  Trim the corners with a corner rounder.  Blend overlapping layers of Distress Oxides on the smoother side of the paper.
Colors used here are twisted citron, wilted violet, cracked pistachio, peacock feathers, and shaded lilac.  Give it a very light spritz of water and blend any splotchy areas with the inky sponges or brushes.  Place it in the Serene Mandala 3D Embossing Folder with the inked side facing the highly-textured half.  Emboss the watercolor paper using the plates or mats required for your machine.

Highlight the folder's details with a brayer and Pearlescent Jade Brilliance.  Ink the entire brayer, place the embossed cardstock on a hard, flat surface and roll it over the embossed watercolor paper.

Stamp the greeting - from the Big and Little Words Clear Stamp Set - with Warm Breeze VersaFine Clair on lavender cardstock.  Stamp the frame over the stamped greeting.  Dry the inks.

Trim the watercolor paper, greeting block and card with a corner rounder. Round the corners of a light gray A-2 card too.  Lightly ink the edges of the watercolor paper with wilted violet.  Assemble the card and add ¼" punched circles of the turquoise glitter cardstock from the Twinkling Jewel 6x6 Glitter Pad.

Add inky dimension and shimmery highlights to embossed watercolor paper and make those details the star of your card.  Thanks for visiting...see you again on Saturday!

Embossed Florals
by Trina Pham

E66F685D-F893-4F77-9FF3-64F50213BB30

Hello there.  Once again this month’s May Flowers challenge was what inspired my card today.  I did a super easy inking technique on the beautiful Chrysanthemum Field 3D embossing folder (EF) from the Spring collection to create it.

Using a rubber brayer, the flat side of the EF was inked with dye inks in rainbow colors.  Inserted a piece of Bristol paper into the EF and ran it through my Big Shot machine and voila!

A25F460F-2026-42B4-856A-8FA3369906B5

Seriously, that’s it! I went with a rainbow palette, but you could simplify the process even further by using fewer colors.

FC3E9EFE-76A3-4C8E-BD4A-6C368E802F35

A couple of sentiments from Wild Rose Stem stamp set were white heat embossed on black cardstock and trimmed into strips.  A few clear sequins and clear shimmer spritz to the entire card finished it off (couldn’t capture the sparke).

Since I had the supplies out, I made a couple more thank you cards, but with the  Magnificent Sunflower 3D EF and only three ink colors for each.

The May Flower challenge ends on May 30 EST, so lots of time to enter.  Thank you for stopping by.  Have a wonderful week!

Celebrate Friendship with Splendid Poppy Stems and Gilia Stems by Jean Okimoto

P1150286

Friends and flowers can make any day better...celebrate a lasting friendship with a special card for someone who's always there for you.   Hi, Jean Okimoto here with flowers, glitter and bright colors today.

P1150313

Diecut the Gilia Stems from rainbow-inked cardstock.  The diecut section includes blended layers of Distress Oxides - worn lipstick, picked raspberry, abandoned coral, squeezed lemonade, mowed lawn and peeled paint.  Cut the flower, add more squeezed lemonade, then color the stem with more mowed lawn and peeled paint.

Cut Splendid Poppy Stems from another rainbow-inked piece and add more of the same three colors.

Cut the green print from the Springtime Bouquet 6x6 Set with the medium-sized Stylish Rectangle Trio die.  Stamp a scrap of the same print with the greeting from the Poppystamps Greeting Basics Clear Stamps Set and Shady Lane VersaFine Clair.  Quickly emboss it with detail clear powder.

P1150280

Here's a tip...trim greeting blocks with dies from the Rectangle Basics or Square Basics sets.   Some dies are already perfectly-sized for our greeting stamps.  If not, just use a die that's slightly larger and trim the excess cardstock.  You'll have perfectly-cut greeting blocks or strips - without those wonky lopsided edges that aren't really noticeable...until it's attached to the card.

Lightly ink the edges of the background and greeting block.  It's been years since I've inked the edges of my diecuts!

Cut green glitter cardstock from the Twinkling Jewel 6x6 Glitter Pad with the new Poppystamps Grosgrain Bow.

P1150298

Trim the lower leaf from the Gilia flower (it would have been covered by the bow) and attach it just below the blossom.   Attach the diecuts to an A-6 (4-½" x 6-¼") natural white notecard.  Accent the flowers with Goldfinch Open Studio Glitter Glue.

Hope you'll have some time to create a card for special people in your life - where would we be without them?

Thanks for visiting - see you again on Thursday... Jeansignature-3

Embossing Over Stencils
by Michelle Bala

19

Hello there! Michelle here, sharing a bright and happy card!  Here are the steps to create this card:

  1. Adhere stencil to a piece of 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 measured cardstock.
  2. Ink up the stencil. I used squeezed lemonade, dried marigold, worn lipstick and crushed olive distress oxide inks. Remove stencil, allow to dry.
  3. Coat stenciled panel with anti-static powder.
  4. Emboss with sunflower blossom and leaves.
  5. Secure the die cut frame to the panel and run thru your machine.
  6. Adhere the die cut frame and insert to card base.
  7. Emboss the sentiments, trim and adhere to the panel.
  8. Embellish with gems.

Hope you give this a try!

Stenciled Leafy Rows and the Wild Rose Stem by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxWildRoseStemClearStampsAndDiesSet, MemoryBoxLeafyRowsArtStencil, MemoryBoxOpenStudioGlitterGlue, JeanOkimoto, FlowerStamps, ClearStamps, Stencils, GlitterGlue, StampAndDieSets, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, ImagineCrafts, DistressOxides, HandmadeFlowerCards

Pair the Wild Rose Stem blossoms with the Leafy Rows Art Stencil for a different look.  It’s easy – and another way to get more from the great designs in our Spring 2020 release.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here after extended blog-posting problems - let's pretend it's still Thursday and get started...

P1150267

Mask the top row – and the second row of leaves on the right.  Mask the bottom leaves too.  The leaves on both sides will be trimmed later -  they don’t need masking.

Stencil the leaves on light green cardstock with mowed lawn and bundled sage Distress Oxide.  Dry the inks and trim the cardstock to 3” x 4-¼”.  Attach strips of dark green cardstock for the stems.  No matching dark green cardstock?  Just sponge more ink onto a scrap of light green cardstock and cut it into strips.

Stamp the flower tops from the Wild Stem Rose Clear Stamps and Dies Set on the smoother side of Coral Creme cardstock with Onyx Black VersaFine Clair.  Quickly emboss it with detail clear powder.  Cut it with the coordinating die and trim any bits of the stem below the flowers.  Shade it with worn lipstick Distress Oxide and Cheerful VersaFine Clair.

Prep black cardstock with the embossing powder tool.  Stamp the greeting – also from the stamp set – with VersaMark and emboss it with detail white powder.

Attach everything to an A-6 (4-1/2” x 6-1/4”)  Coral Crème card – use foam tape for the greeting.  Add Sour Apple Sparkle Glitter Glue to the flower centers.

P1150239

Here’s an easy way to organize coordinating dies – attach them to curtain rings.  Tape the product info from the package onto a cardstock tab and attach it to the ring for quick reference.  Everything stays together and they’re easy to identify too - some of the shapes can be hard to identify if they go astray!

This card began as a "what if...?" idea and evolved from there.  Discover unique ways to use your supplies and tools while we social distance and craft alone.   Hope we're keeping you inspired – and crafting – while staying safe at home.  Thanks for visiting!

Happy Birthday Wishes
by Michelle Bala

19

Hello there! Michelle here. Hope you are all safe and well and hopefully enjoying down time and craft time! I've been playing around with the new Twinkling Jewel and Delicate Pastel glitter paper pads. The colors are so vibrant it makes we yearn for spring and summer flowers!

19

I used the Double Stitch Rectangle Dies to cut a frame from the glitter paper.  I chose the first and fourth die cut frame ( starting from the largest as shown above) and secured them to the glitter paper.
19

The glitter paper pads pair perfectly ( say that 10 times fast!) with Cottage Stripes and Dots paper pads!!! I used the sentiment from the stamp set  Friendship and Kindness, Poppy Stamps. I trimmed the pattern paper to fit just behind the frame. Than I adhered them together and to the card base.
19

I die cut some butterflies using the Gloriosa Butterfly Duo Background Dies and glitter paper. For a finishing touch I scattered some sequins.

Thanks for taking a peek! Hope you give this a try!
