Sprinkle Dots Peony Joy
by Anne Thompson

This is my last holiday card this month before I start using products from the new 2020 Christmas release which you will be able to see on the Memory Box site TODAY!

I made today's Christmas-in-July card with Memory Box supplies from previous collections.  It all started because I had a peony left from a previous project that I wanted to incorporate, I had found a package of Holly Berry notecards with last year's Christmas stamps and dies as I was rummaging through things, and I knew I wanted to use a favorite stencil to create the background.

supplies

to make this card

  • Tape the stencil on top of the smooth-sided watercolor paper and apply ink using a fingertip dauber.  Trim this panel to 4 X 5 1/4 and adhere it to the front of a Holly Berry notecard.

IMG_2601-ink

  • Using the Matinee Rectangle Layers, cut one from a piece of the Cottage Stripes and Dots red paper and a smaller one from a scrap of smooth-sided watercolor paper.

IMG_2604-ink

  • Stamp "joy" using the same VersaFine Clair Tulip Red ink on the watercolor paper rectangle.

IMG_2607-ink

  • Layer the two rectangles and place them in the lower right corner of the front panel.
  • Stamp, watercolor, and die cut a single peony (or do what I did and use a flower left from a prior project) and glue it over the upper left corners of the two rectangles.

And there you have it...

Be sure to look at the newest 2020 Christmas release and start writing out your wish list.  There are new dies, glitter glues, and 6X6 paper pads as well as two new embossing folders.  And keep checking the blog in the days to come for samples from the Design Team!

Happy Crafting!

Emboss and Distress the Garden Party Floral Corner by Jean Okimoto

Blend the warm colors of a summer sunset onto Open Studio Watercolor Paper and add 3D embossing to create a floral card for any occasion.  Hello, Jean Okimoto here with another Garden Party Collection design before we introduce you to our 2020 Holiday Collection.

Cut the smoother side of Open Studio Watercolor Paper with the 4" Square Basics die.  Spritz it with a light mist of water and sponge it with overlapping layers of Distress Oxides.  I've used spun sugar, squeezed lemonade and dried marigold here - but any combination of your favorite soft pastels would work for this design.

Air-dry the inks.  Moisten the reverse side of the paper with another quick spritz of water to prep it for embossing.  Emboss it with the Floral Corner 3D Embossing Folder using the plate(s) required for your machine.  Here's what I used for my Platinum - thick base platform, folder with the watercolor paper (inked side up) and two layers of 80# cardstock.  No embossing mats or plates.

Place the embossed paper on a smooth, hard surface and distress it with sandpaper or a sanding block.  I used #180 sandpaper and short, light upward strokes. Remove the residue with a tissue.  Attach it to a side-folded 5-½" square white card.

Stamp the greeting - from the Peony Garden Corner Clear Stamp and Die Set - on white cardstock with Melon Fresh Ink.  Heat-emboss it with detail clear powder.  Cut the top and two sides with the 2-½" Square Basics die, then trim the bottom edge.  Attach it with foam tape.

Color the white glitter sheet from the Delicate Pastel Glitter Pad with a Copic, Sharpie or Zebra Mildliner pen.  Punch ¼" accent dots.

Distress Oxide Inks on Black Card Stock
by Michelle Bala

6

Hello there! Michelle here. This is my last card created with The Garden Party Release! I can't wait to start playing with the newest Christmas Release! I really love the stencil Leafy Jumble! I adhered it to a piece of black card stock and used distress oxide inks in shades picked raspberry, carved pumpkin, cracked pistachio and mermaid lagoon.  I splattered the stenciled background with white and gold paints.
6

I inked up some black card stock with the same distress oxide inks and die cut the sentiment die, Best Wishes Banner Script, and Scribble Leaf Die Cut.
6

I adhered all the die cuts to the stenciled panel and adhered the panel to a black card base. For a finishing touch I added some gems.

Thanks for stopping by for a peek!

Have a great weekend!

Gracious Leaves Christmas
by Trina Pham

43C1965C-BD1F-4B7D-B7E7-96F34747FC8C

Hello everyone.  It’s still July... Christmas in July, that is.  So I have another Christmas card to share today. I think the Gracious Leaves 3D embossing folder (EF) from the Garden Party collection is just beautiful.  It also reminded me of mistletoe, so that was what inspired me to stretch it and make a Christmas card with it.

There are basically two steps in creating my card so this will be a very short post  😂   Dry embossed a piece of Bristol paper with the EF by running it through my Big Shot.

AE4A8FE5-B0E4-4C6D-9E77-D1A34148183E

Die cut the Merry Christmas Noted Script sentiment four times from thick white cardstock and once from blue glitter paper then stacked them for a floating effect. Assembled to finish!

You could switch up the glitter paper / sentiment and this would be great for mass producing.

Did I mention that this is going to be a short post? 😂  Well that does it for me.  Thank you for joining me.  Have a wonderful day.

Peace and the Pretty Blossom Stem Holiday Card
by Anne Thompson

I'm still working on my July personal challenge to make holiday cards from Memory Box Spring 2020 and Garden Party products I have on hand with sentiments from previous holiday releases.  Today's card features the Peace Jotted Script, the Pretty Blossom Stem, and Wrapped Stitched Rectangles on a pretty piece of Garden Party paper.

In the photos above you can see how I cut everything from red glitter paper and white cardstock.  I trimmed a piece of pretty floral paper 4 X 5 1/4 and adhered that to the front of a white notecard.  I used foam tape to place the red glitter Wrapped Rectangle at an angle.  I used large Glue Dots under the flowers to attach the Pretty Blossom Stem to the white Wrapped Rectangle and then used Scor-Tape to secure that to the glitter rectangle.  The next step was to use a glue pen to layer the Peace Jotted Script, red glitter paper on top of white cardstock.  After trying a number of various placements, I used just one large Glue Dot under the "a" to attach "peace" to the panel.

IMG_2589-ink

To finish the card I added white pearls to the flower centers.  And on the inside I added a narrow strip of the same Garden Party paper I used on the card front.

It's All About The Stencil
by Michelle Bala

1

Hello there! Michelle here, showing off this beautiful stencil, Ring Tile Stencil. I inked it up on some Memory Box's Watercolor Paper....awesome paper!!
1

I used distress oxide ink in victorian velvet....a perfect dusty mauve shade!  I stamped the sentiment in black ink. Than I adhered my stenciled panel to the card base.  I stamped and die cut the Peony Garden Corner Stamp. I really wanted the stencil to stand out, so I only used one Copic Marker to add subtle color. I used shade E41 and just added some shadows to the petals and leaves.
1

I positioned the corner bouquet in the corner and adhered with foam tape.  Than I die cut some leaves using an oldie but goodie die, Scribble Leaf Bundle Outline. Adhere the leaves than add some paint splatters in black. For a finishing touch I added some glittery gems.

Thanks for peeking!

Let it Snow
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_1103

Good morning everyone! I have another Christmas card for you today!

I started by stenciling texture paste through a snowflake stencil onto white cardstock.  I only used a portion of the stencil. Once the paste was dry, I used foam tape to adhere this to a white card base.

IMG_1100

Next I die cut the Diagonal Stripe Collage from red cardstock and glued that to my card.

I die cut the Scribble Snowman from white cardstock and the Scribble Outline from black cardstock.  I glued the outline to the snowman backgound and put this aside.  Next I added washi tape to the card and used foam tape to adhere my snowman on top of the tape.  To embellish the snowman, I hand cut a nose and hat. Then I used some epoxy dots for the eyes, mouth, and buttons.  I tied a piece of twine around his neck for a scarf.

IMG_1104

On a strip of black cardstock, I stamped and white heat embossed "Let it Snow" and glued that to my card.

I added 3 buttons to my card for a finishing touch. It's a pretty simple card.

Thanks for stopping by today and have a great week!

Giulia Border Joy Holiday Card
by Anne Thompson

I'm continuing my challenge this month to create holiday cards from Memory Box materials I have on hand, not necessarily holiday-themed, and mostly pulling from the Garden Party and Spring 2020 collections.

IMG_2580-ink

This is actually the second card I made and my favorite of the two.

materials used for both cards

I started my cards by die cutting everything first.  I actually cut the Joy Airy Script twice and the Giulia Border four times to have what I needed for the two cards.

IMG_2574-ink

Then I made a sandwich for my Big Kick and embossed the Leafy Jumble stencil twice on thin white cardstock.  I used the VersaFine Clair Tulip Red ink direct to paper over the raised leaves to use as the base on the card fronts.

IMG_2572-ink

I used Scor-Tape to attach the leafy panel to the front of a white notecard.  I added a strip of white cardstock  1 1/2 X 5 1/4 which I first edged with the Tulip Red ink.  I used Glue Dots under the flowers to attach the red glitter Giulia Border on that white strip.  Then I adhered the Joy Airy Script with a glue pen.

IMG_2579-ink

On the inside I added a piece of paper from the Cottage Meadow pad and a white cardstock rectangle.

IMG_2582-ink

Then I went back to the front of the card and auditioned a bunch of different ribbons and bows before settling on the red satin bow.

IMG_2580-ink

The other card has the fold at the top edge, the embossed and inked leafy panel, and three narrow strips of white cardstock with the Giulia Border on each one.

IMG_2576-ink

From the outside it is not obvious that it is a holiday card because...

IMG_2577-ink

...the sentiment is on the inside.

Are you thinking Christmas in July?  Have you thought about ways that you might repurpose some of your stamps and dies to create holiday cards?  And have you made and posted anything to this month's Framed! challenge yet?  So many questions...

Happy Crafting!

Giulia Border and a Concentric-Cut Set of Echo Blossoms by Jean Okimoto

P1160391

The new Giulia Border is a delicate backdrop for the bold concentric-cut Poppystamps Echo Blossoms.  It's esy to create the look of stacked floral layers - without the bulk - by cutting a single layer of Memory Box Open Studio Watercolor Paper with 6 of the Echo Blossoms dies. Hi everyone, Jean Okimoto here sharing a summer design today.

Arrange the dies - cut-side down - and tape them together.

P1000264
Flip them over and brush the remaining exposed tape with the embossing powder prep tool to keep the tape from sticking to the whatever you're diecutting.  The tape holds the dies securely - while the powder coats and deactivates the rest of the adhesive.

I diecut some pink/coral/orange-sponged Memory Box Open Studio Watercolor Paper from the stash. Leave the diecuts in the die and tape them together across the back to handle them as one piece.

Stamp the greeting - from the Poppystamps Greeting Basics Clear Stamp Set - on a scrap of the inked paper with Morning Mist VersaFine Clair.  Dry the ink, then cut it with the second-smallest Echo Blossom Die.

Cut the gray Dashing Stripes and Dots 6x6 cardstock with the medium Stylish Rectangle Trio die.

Attach adhesive label paper or a sticker sheet to white cardstock and cut Giulia Border.  The extra layer adds dimension to the diecut without having to glue two diecuts together.

Attach the diecuts to a light gray A6 card (4-½" x 6-¼").  Cut yellow glitter cardstock - from the Twinkling Jewel 6x6 Glitter Pack - with the smallest Echo Blossom die.  Punch matching ¼" circles for little accents too.

P1160396

Special thanks to everyone who ordered my VERY SIMPLY ASIAN class kits from the Impress OnLine Store and from Stamps and Memories in Hawaii (808 484.9107)  I appreciate your support personally - and for independent businesses like Memory Box, Impress OnLine and Stamps and Memories.  It's time to prep another kit - BUTTERFLIES, BLOSSOMS & BLING - 5 colorful cards with glossy diecuts and accents, glitter and favorite summer icons.

Thanks for visiting - see you again on Thursday!

Heartfelt Hugs
by Michelle Bala

52

Hello there! Michelle here, sharing some heartfelt hugs! There is something about the color orange that makes me happy!! What color makes you happy?
52

I embossed a piece of Memory Box watercolor paper with Gracious Leaves 3D Embossing Folder. I trimmed the panel and matted it onto a kraft cardstock base. I stamped and colored the florals from the stamp die combo Peony Garden Corner clear stamps and die set. I used Copic Markers in shades YR00, YR04, R08; and YG21, Yg13, G99.
52

I embossed the sentiment onto a piece of orange cardstock and adhered that to the embossed panel. Than I arranged and glued the die cut flowers and butterfly. For a finishing touch I added a few sequins.

Thanks for stopping by and checking this out! Hope you have a great day!
