Peace Card
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_1855

Good morning everyone! Today's card is a fairly simple card to make. I started with a piece of green cardstock and gold heat embossed the wreath image.

Then I used a blender brush and Rustic Wilderness Distress Ink to deepen the color green.

IMG_1853

I also used a paint brush and the same green to deepen the color of the leaves. You can add as much detail to your image as you want, but I really wanted to keep it simple.

Next I used a white gel pen to add color to my berries and spattered the background with white acrylic paint.

I die cut the word "peace", once from gold foil paper and twice from white cardstock. I glued all the words together ending with the gold word on top.

IMG_1857

I gold embossed the sentiment on a strip of white cardstock and glued that to my card.

I adhered the card front to a white card base and that's it!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Cut Open Studio Watercolor Paper, Smoky and Berry Blush cardstock with the largest die from the Birch Press Design Tall Triangle Set.  You'll need the entire tree of watercolor paper, the top three sections from Berry Blush and top two sections from Smoky.  Punch a small hole about ¼" below the bottom row of the watercolor paper tree, then trim about ⅛" below the hole.

Trim the Berry Blush tree below the 3rd section and the Smoky tree below the 2nd section

As always, prep the Stitched Tree die by rubbing it briskly with scrunched waxed paper top help release the tiny dots.  Tape one end of the sparkly yarn behind the diecuts and stitch horizontally from the bottom to the top of each tree.

Sew a long vertical stitch from the top to the punched hole on the watercolor paper tree.  Sew long vertical stitches from the top to the bottoms of the smaller trees.  Tape the thread ends on the reverse side.

Diecut the stars from the Starlit Breeze die from the pale gold sheet of the Holiday Glitter Pad. Cut the largest Stylish Rectangle from white cardstock.

Attach the diecuts to a white A-6 card (4-½" x 6-¼") - use foam tape along the center and bottom of the watercolor tree.  Use doublestick tape for the smaller trees.  The post office may require special handling or additional postage for thicker cards.

The Mistletoe Wreath is generously-sized for A-2 and A-6 cards - but I was determined to attach it to an 8-½" x 3-½" slimline card.  No problem...just trim a bit of the wreath and tuck the cut ends back together!  Hello, Jean Okimoto here with a holiday design for an 'adjustable' wreath.

Prep the Mistletoe Wreath die by rubbing it briskly with scrunched waxed paper to help release the delicate leaves.

Cut the wreath from green cardstock.  Trim it to fit the slimline card, then glue the cut ends together.  It doesn't need to be perfect - it'll be hidden.

Cut two sets of Mistletoe Swags - we're using 3 swags as fillers for the wreath  Cut the large Knotted Circle Wreath from kraft cardstock.  Layer it over the Mistletoe Wreath and tuck several of the leaves through the Knotted Circle Wreath.  Layer three of the Mistletoe Swags over the 2 wreaths.  Attach them to a white slimline card.

Cut two of the Mistletoe Bundle bows from the red glittered cardstock in the Holiday Glitter Pad.  Cut two sets of the Mistletoe Bundle berry circles from the platinum-colored Holiday Glitter Pad.  Add them to the wreath.

Cut Special Merry Christmas from red cardstock - leave it in the die.  Attach two ¼" wide strips of lined doublestick tape to the diecut and run it through the machine to cut the tape and create a self-adhesive greeting.  Attach the greeting to the card.

Expand your design options by trimming, splicing, or layering your diecuts. Or cut a duplicate wreath in a slightly darker shade of green and layer it a bit offset to create a shadow.

Special thanks to everyone who bought my COOL WINTER WISHES Class Kits from Impress and Stamps + Memories!  Hope you liked the cards and have chosen a few of them for your 2020 Christmas greeting.  My next class kit is HOLIDAY GREETINGS - SIMPLY ASIAN with more Memory Box designs and great papers.

Thanks for visiting...see you again on Thursday!

Collar Technique Masculine Plaids Winter Cards
by Anne Thompson

The Collar Technique is another one I had never tried, so I paired that method with darker plaids, dots and stripes, and cardstocks to create some masculine cards that could be sent any time this winter.  By adding the shirts to a side-folded card I got a less shirt-like look and had some fun accessorizing.  When I'm ready to send them out, all I will need to do is choose an appropriate sentiment to add to the coordinating paper inside.

IMG_2947-ink

how to make a card using the Collar Technique

  • Start with an A2 notecard...I used white ones.
  • Add a mat paper layer 5 1/4 X 4...I used dots papers.
  • Add another layer 5 X 3 3/4... I used a plaid or stripes.
  • Cut plaid paper that coordinates with the layer above and cut it the same size, 5 X 3 3/4.
  • Turn the paper to the 5" side and mark it at 2 1/2 then cut a slit from that mark down 1 1/2".
  • Use a ruler and a scoring tool to make a line that goes from the ends of the slit at 1 1/2" to the corners on the 5" sides and carefully fold back on that line...that will bring the back side of the paper up onto the front like shirt collars.
  • Use small dimensional foam pieces behind the collars so that they roll over a bit onto the shirt.
  • Add this piece onto the mat layer of the same size.

Instead of making this a top fold card so that it really looks like a shirt, I used a side-fold card and turned the shirt on its side for a different look.  Let's see what I did to accessorize each of the cards from this point.

IMG_2950-ink

  • I added a popped up circle cut using the CIRCLE BASICS SET 30087 and a light gray dot paper.
  • I cut the LARGE VINTAGE SLED 94496 from black cardstock and placed it flat on the circle and added a foam dot under the steering bar of the sled which is on the flat paper panel in order to keep it level.
  • I glued some POINTY PINE NEEDLE SPRIGS 94467 on the body of the sled and topped the sprigs with a dotted gray bow.

IMG_2948-ink

  • I cut a circle from the same paper I used for the shirt and collars and popped it up between the collars.
  • I added a black cardstock wreath, the medium-sized one from KNOTTED CIRCLE WREATHS 94482.
  • I cut more Pointy Pine Needle Sprigs using black cardstock and added them and a black bow to the wreath.

IMG_2952-ink

  • Because of the white stripe in the plaid on the collars I used white cardstock for the added elements on the plaid circle--a white Knotted Circle Wreath, Pointy Pine Needle Sprigs, and a tiny satin bow.

The papers I used are from PP1009 CHRISTMAS PLAID and PP1011 GARLAND STRIPES AND DOTS.

One can never have too many guy cards on hand.  And these are so fun!

Happy Crafting!

Stitched Circle Christmas Card
by Angie Cimbalo

Left tilt

Hello and welcome!  It's Angie here with a fun Christmas card made with the  Stitched Circle Die.

I die cut the die in my Gemini Junior, then began the stitching with red embroidery thread first as you can see below.94404

Stitching

Once I finished with the red, I added green thread stitching in the middle of each point.  The sentiment, from "Spirit of Christmas" stamp set, was heat embossed on black card stock in white embossing powder.  Then I die cut the sentiment with one of the  "Knotted Circle Wreaths" dies and another one from red glitter paper from the "Twinkling Jewel Glitter Pad."  I used the outer piece of the red glitter card stock to frame the sentiment and then added a gem from my stash at each of the star points, and to the sentiment.  Here's a closer look:

Right tilt

Stitching on a card front is very therapeutic and I really enjoy the many stitching die options from Memory Box.  I also think adding this fun stitched element to a card makes it even more special for the recipient!  Here's one last look at my card:

Main

I hope I have inspired to you use some stitching on a card.  It doesn't take much time, about the same as coloring an image in detail.   I did this while I watched tv one night and then made it into a card the next day.  I have several panels already die-cut with the stitching dies that I keep by my chair so in the evening, I can leisurely add the stitching when I want something to keep my hands busy!  Be sure to check out all the stitching dies from Memory Box, there are a lot to choose from!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Rainbow Christmas
by Trina Pham

6D6B9869-51A6-4426-971D-1CC7061A933F

Happy Saturday everyone.  I love rainbow creations any time of year, so I couldn’t think of a better time to make a rainbow card than during the most wonderful time of the year!  There are several samples of rainbow color wreaths on social media, but I think the idea started with rainbow queen, Laura Bassen

I used the Bountiful Wreath die to create a clean and simple (CAS) card.  The wreath was die cut from mixed media paper.  Left the die-cut piece in the negative space, then ink blended Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade, Scattered Straw, Cracked Pistachio, Blueprint Sketch and Wilted Violet distress inks (DIs) with blender brushes to color it.

BB9310E6-A2B9-4D9D-A503-FE8094494009

To fill the wreath, the small sprig from the accessory die was die cut from mixed media paper and coloured with the same DIs.  For variation and texture, they were spritz with water and blot with a paper towel.  The sentiment from the Christmas Tile stamp set was white heat embossed on black cardstock then fussy cut out.  Assembled the card onto a Bristol panel and popped up the sentiment with foam tape to finish.

I had some trees left over from making this tri-fold card, so I kept the rainbow fun going and made a second CAS Christmas card.  The Memory Box supplies used are listed below

And that concludes my post.  Thank you for joining me.  Have a wonderful day,

Be Merry
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_1796

Good morning everyone! Today I have a fun Christmas card featuring this cute snowman die which is part of the new 2020 Christmas Release.

IMG_1795

To make this card, I started by inking the word stamp with Speckled Egg Distress ink and stamped it onto watercolor paper. Next I die cut the snowman in the center of the background paper. I saved the hat, nose and scarf from the die cut to color and glue back into place on the snowman. I inked the edges of the paper with Speckled Egg Distress ink and glued this to black cardstock, leaving a border around the watercolor paper.

Next, I colored the nose, scarf and the hat band with copic markers and glued them in place on the die cut image.  The hat band was a thin strip cut from the hat.

I used white acrylic paint to lighten up the snowman's body and spattered the paper to have it look like snow. I used a white gel pen to add some highlights to the snowman.

Once the paint was dry, I stamped the sentiment in black ink under the snowman.

IMG_1800

Next I used the Pinpoint Snowflake craft die on a piece of watercolor paper and glued that to a black cardstock mat.  I glued a strip of red patterned paper to the left side of the snowflake background and adhered it to a white card base.

I stamped and white heat embossed the words "be merry'' on a strip of black cardstock and glued that to the card.

To finish the card, I added some white Nuvo Drops to the card front.

Well, that's it for today! Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Joy
by Michelle Bala

36

Hello, Michelle here. I wanted to color up some poinsettias from the stamp set, Spirit of Christmas. I stamped the flowers onto copic friendly paper than used Copic Markers to color. Here are the shades I used: RV00, RV21, RV23, RV25; R35, R46, R59; R30, R32, R35. I used Y15, Y17 for the centers.
36

I used the coordinating die to cut out the flowers. Then I used the die Pointy Pine Needle Sprigs and die cut a few sprigs.  To die cut the background panel, I used Wrapped Stitched Rectangles Die and Christmas Plaid Pack. I used one die cut word to pull it all together, Joy Airy Script Die and Holiday Glitter Pad.
36

I adhered the plaid panel with foam tape to the card base. Then I layered the poinsettias and pine needle sprigs on top the panel. I added some white accents with a gel pen. Lastly, I adhered the die cut sentiment on top and scattered some gems.

Thanks for stopping by for a peek!

Quick Backgrounds for Holiday Cards
by Angie Cimbalo

2a better

Hello and welcome!  Today I have 2 quick cards using some fast background techniques, 1) wide washi tape and 2) scoring.  For both my Christmas cards I used the brand newly released "Large Vintage Sled" the previously released "Special Merry Christmas" die. Here's a look at some of my die cutting and card making prep:

Slimline prep product

For the slimline card, I took "Watercolor Forest Greenery" wide washi tape and adhered it to a 3.5" by 8.5" piece of white card stock. Next on the washi tape background, I sponged Distress Ink in "Cracking Campfire" to the outside edges, added white paint pen to highlight some spots and to create some snow dots. After die cutting the sled dies and sentiment from white, kraft and red card stock, I stacked them slightly offset from each other for dimension. I added my washi tape background panel to a slimline card base which was 8.5" by 3.5". I adhered the sentiment directly to the washi tape and popped the sled up on foam tape at an angle. Lastly I used "Dragonfly Fairy Sugar Glitter Glue" to simulate sparkling snow on the background and the sled.  Here's a closer look at my slimline card where you can see the white highlights, inking and glitter glue.

Slimline close

A 2 card

For my second card I took my scoreboard and scoring tool and scored lines down a white piece of card stock measuring 4" by 5.25" every 1/2" and then added "Tea Dye" Distress Ink direct to paper to create a faux woodgrain look. I adhered that panel to a piece of plaid paper from the "Christmas Plaid" paper pack and the to the card base. Next it was time to add the sled and sentiment dies. On the sled die cuts this time, I didn't offset the kraft on the red but put it directly on top. I think I like that look better because you can see more of the red showing through the bottom of the sled. Either way, it's a gorgeous die and I had so much fun playing with it to create these cards! Here's one more look at my A2 size sled card:

A2 2nd card

And here is one last look at both cards side by side:

I hope I have inspired you to create some quick background for cards today. Using wide washi tape and the faux wood look with scoring and ink direct to paper, you can come up with so many quick and easy background to showcase your dies and stamps!
Thanks so much for stopping by and see you next time!

Vintage Sled Christmas Gift Tags
by Michelle Bala

20

Hello there! Michelle here, sharing a few Christmas gift tags I created using the new Vintage Sled Die. Grab an assorted mix of colored cardstock and let's get busy! I die cut the sled 9 times using red, pink, green, aqua, teal, light gray, dark gray, kraft, and black cardstock.

13

I assembled the slatted pieces with foam tape. I used a small fussy scissor to trim long thin strips of foam tape. I applied them to the base of the die cut sled, than lay the slatted pieces on top. You can also use liquid glue if you do not want a raised look.

11

After the sleds are assembled, set aside. Let's die cut all the trimmings!

12

I used the tree tops from the new Collage Dies, Pine Tree Collage, Wooded Glenn Collage, and Little Orchard Collage Dies. I also used Bauble Snowflakes Dies but unfortunately they are no longer available. However, Jolly Snowflake Trio Dies are  a perfect swap! I used the same cardstock colors plus I added white to die cut all the trimmings.

24

Now have fun layering the leaves in different colors, shapes and patterns! Layer each cluster with a snowflake and a gem.  The pink sled and red sled are my favorite!
24

I also added some shimmer to the sled, cluster of leaves and snowflake.
24

All the sentiments are from the stamp set Christmas Tiles. I used bakers twine in different shades to tie the tags to some candy canes. The tags can also make cute ornaments!

Hope you enjoyed this post and make some vintage sled gift tags!!!! Have a great weekend!
