The new Double Stitch Happy Heart Cut Out set is a versatile set of stitched outlines and heart shapes.  Think of it as four dies that create 8 unique looks.   They're the perfect backdrop for the Single Daisy Stem and Love Airy Script.  Hello and happy weekend - Jean Okimoto here with more new designs from our 2020 Valentine Collection.

Cut the largest Double Stitch Happy Heart Cut Out from watercolor paper.  Pressure-emboss it with the new Leafy Heart - use the plates and embossing mat required for your machine.

Cut Love Airy Script from silver glitter cardstock.

Cut Single Daisy Stem from dark gray cardstock.  Attach adhesive label paper or a sticker sheet to pink felt and cut the daisy background.  The paper backing stabilizes the felt and keeps adhesives from soaking through.

Cut the lighter gray Dashing Stripes and Dots 6x6 print using the 2" x 3-¼" Rectangle Basics die.

Attach the diecuts to light gray A-6 card (4-½" x 6-¼").  Add pink gem stickers.

Clean and Simple Holiday Thank You
by Laura Fulcher

IMG_2263

Greetings friends.  I don't know about you, but this time of year I am in need of thank you cards.  I cheat a little and sometimes make combination Christmas/birthday thank you cards (a perk of having a birthday near Christmas), but overall, I find that it is prudent to have a stack on hand.

To make my card, I started with some beautiful plaid paper from the Dashing Holiday pack and then added my white circle and white die cut letters.  I thought that my snowflakes would get lost in the design if they were also in white paper, so I cut them out of silver metallic cardstock.  Unfortunately, the metallic paper didn't have enough sheen and sparkle to it, so I thought I should help it along by adding some Stickles.

I placed my snowflakes onto a non-stick sheet and painted them with some sparkly glitter glue.  It took a bit of time for them to dry, but I knew it would make less of a mess if I added my sparkle and then added my dried glittery snowflakes to the card:

Here is a closeup of the finished glittered elements:

Good luck finishing up any remaining holiday cards and think about having a few thank you cards on hand.  You just might need them!

The 2020 Valentine's release is here!  It's a great collection of hearts, frames, words, flowers, foliage, butterflies - and a detailed deep-impression 3-D embossing folder.  We can't wait to share our latest designs with you and hope you'll be inspired to highlight them in your projects. Hello, Jean Okimoto here with the first of many Design Team Valentine designs.

Cut the largest Double Stitch Happy Heart Cut Out from Smoky cardstock.  Cut the heart with the second-largest die from the set.  Save the center heart for another project - we're using the outer section as a frame here.

Attach Birch Press Designs Shimmer Lines  Wide Washi Tape to pink cardstock and cut it with the second-largest heart.  It's a generous 4-½" wide tape - with delicate gold lines and a frosty, translucent look.  Use it as an overlay to enhance white and colored cardstock and create custom-colored coordinated backgrounds and accents for your projects.

Cut the detailed Scribble Rose Trio outline from light gray cardstock.  Cut the solid rose trio from pink cardstock.  Emboss the pink diecut with the outline using the plates and embossing mat required for your machine.  Embossing adds dimension and shadows.

Stamp "cherish" - from the Big and Little Valentine's Clear Stamps - onto a white A-6 (4-½" x 6--¼") card with Morning Mist VersaFine Clair.  Attach the diecuts.

A Vintage Holiday
by Trina Pham

2F37F015-BB96-4088-A2C3-EC57935712C8

Hello everyone.  Christmas is just a week away!  Are you ready yet?  Sadly, I’m still working on my holiday cards. 🙈  And on that note, I have a mixed media vintage holiday card to share today.

I started by adhering Twas the Night wide Washi tape to thick white cardstock, then die cutting it down to A2 size using Rectangle Basics largest die.  I wanted to watercolor on it, but Washi tape is non-porous so watercolors would just slide off.  To resolve this, white gesso was applied to the Washi tape with a flat brush.  Gesso is a primer that gives surfaces a slight texture, allowing them to accept paints, watercolors, etc.

3D8F574C-FE97-42ED-AD10-5C8DDF57F4EC

Once the gesso panel dried, it was watercolored with a few brown reinkers.  Kept it darker around the edges and lightest in the center.  Allowed that to dry completely before stamping the pine branch from Winter Greenery with Archival black ink.  Treated the panel with an anti-static bag, then stamped the same pine branch with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.

Added white splatters using white gouache paint.  Finished with a custom sentiment, die cut from black foil paper using Mini Vintage Varsity Alphabet die.  The apostrophe is the center of the letter “A”.

This wraps up my first year as a designer here. 😉   I want to thank everyone again for all the support and encouragement.  Wishing you all a safe and happy Christmas... see you next year!

Making Spirits Bright Ornament
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_0428

Hello everyone, today I have a quick last minute ornament for you to make!

I started with a birch slice circle and dry brushed a little white acrylic paint on it. I didn't cover the ornament completely with paint so that some of the wood grain shows through. When it was dry, I lightly sanded the ornament to make it smooth.

Next I stamped my image on the ornament using black pigment ink, then heat embossed it with black embossing powder.

I colored in my stamped image with colored pencils and spattered the background with white acrylic paint.

IMG_0432

To finish the ornament I stamped the sentiment on black cardstock and heat embossed it with white embossing powder.

I tied a piece of twine to the ornament for a hanger.

That's it!  I told you it was easy.  That's for stopping by today and Merry Christmas to you all.

Silverdale Branch, Joy, and the last of my Dashing Stripes and Dots Papers
by Anne Thompson

What to do with the last few pieces of my DASHING STRIPES AND DOTS papers PP1002?  Those grays?  And the strips on the packet cover?  I just had to use every last smidgen!  I cut them into smaller pieces, backed them with black cardstock, and placed them on black or gray notecards.  On one card I added a white cardstock panel covered with the TWAS THE NIGHT WASHI TAPE WT501.  I die cut the SILVERDALE BRANCH 94306 and the JOY AIRY SCRIPT 94325 from red and green foiled cardstock and added those to create these three holiday cards.

IMG_2154

I made another card using the dark green striped paper with die cuts from silver glitter paper. I really like all of the layers on the front of this one.

My other notecards all had white interiors but this one was black, so I added a piece of dark gray striped paper and a white rectangle on top of that to the inside.

IMG_2156

I have really loved the Memory Box 6X6 Dashing Stripes and Dots and Dashing Holiday papers for my cards this year.  And I think I finally have enough cards made to start putting them in the mail this week!

Happy Crafting!

Merry Christmas Wishes
by Michelle Bala

1

Hello there! Michelle here, sharing an easy CAS design. I used the die Scribble Leaf Bundle Outline die and cut it several times on gold foil paper. I adhered the pattern onto white cardstock.  I used a glue pen to apply glue. It's less messy;)                                                                                                                    1

Next, I cut the Merry Airy Script die with red cardstock and added some shimmer with red stickles glitter glue. Lastly, I embossed the sentiment from Tidings Wreath with gold embossing powder. Adhere your sentiments and add some sequins.                                                                                                              That's all! Simple and sweet!

What do you think? I hope you like it!

Valentine's Day Card ft.La Rue Heart w/Hutton Left & Right Gate Dies
by Vicki Finger

IMG_2558

Hello there!  Vicki here with you today.  Have you noticed all of the Valentine products that are being released right now?  Memory Box has a new release hitting the market right now as well.  It is a super gorgeous release that I know you will all love as much as I do.  I haven't received my products as of yet, so I thought I'd show you an easy card using some previous Memory Box Products that I already had on hand.  It's always a good idea to see what you have that you can add in to the mix of old and new products.

IMG_2605

This patterned paper you see here is one that I have hoarded for many years! It's from my paper scrapbooking days which I haven't done in about 10 years, although I did quite a bit of digital around 2010 - 2014.  I am down to one full sheet plus a sheet that is about 4.5 x 6 inches.  That's it - that all there is.  Throughout the last 20 or so years, I have made a Valentine's card for my husband using this paper several times. We celebrated our 35th Anniversary this past June but I didn't use to be into paper-crafting so I just bought cards for the first several years.   This is my all-time favorite sheet of paper.  I think I bought about 20 sheets of it way back when and it's been 20 years at least since that happened.  I just love the combination of colors here; the saturated red with the warm coral and yellow tones, and then there are foil accents throughout the stripes. This paper is the epitome of my style.  It's rich and regal looking.  I like to challenge myself to make something completely different each year using this paper. I don't even think my husband realizes I've been using the same one for almost every Valentine's Card.

IMG_2601

I wanted the La Rue Heart to be the focal image of my card, so I tried to match it up with other Memory Box dies in such a way that it would still let the Heart be the star of the show.  You'll have to decide if I was successful or not.  I'm happy with what I have but I don't know if I achieved my objective or not. *Ü*

I started by cutting a card base from Red Lacquer Shimmer Cardstock from PaperPapers.com.  Next, using the largest Rectangle Basics Die, I cut the patterned paper for the front of my card.  Next I die cut a Left Hutton Gate and a Right Hutton Gate from gold foiled cardstock (you surely know of my love for gold by now).

Using the Circle Basics Die Set I used two different sizes to get a gold circle and a red one that is slightly smaller.   I also cut the La Rue Heart from the gold and started assembly.  I added the patterned paper on top of the card base, then adhered the left and right Hutton Gates using my 5-inch Xyron sticker maker.

It can be a bit tricky to get to the adhesive on such intricate dies as the Left and Right Hutton Gates so I'll share a little tip with you here.  I run them through my Xyron to get adhesive on them.  Then before taking the top layer of cellophane off, use an embossing sandwich and run it through your die-cutting machine, back and forth one time.  If you don't do this, then you'll need to take a stylus or something similar to go around all of the edges, inside and out, so you won't have adhesive strings popping up and gunking up your work.  I've used a Multipurpose tool, a stylus, and other similar tools, but using an embossing pad and running it through your die-cutting machine is so much faster --like 60 seconds compared to 20 minutes or so doing it by hand.  I had wondered if this would work, so I tried it one day and I doubt I'll ever go back to the old way.  Doing it this way also means you don't have to use an adhesive eraser or Un-du on it.  Un-du is a fantastic item to have on hand if you use a lot of foiled cardstock like I do as it removes the sticky without damaging the surface of the foil.

IMG_2601

I adhered the red circle to the gold circle directly, using Kokuyo Tape Runner, which has been my favorite for years and years. Way before my card-making days, it was my preferred adhesive for my scrapbooks. Then using a double thickness of Scotch Foam Tape, I adhered the circle to the card base.

Using a little bit of adhesive across what would be the center horizontal "band" area, I adhered the La Rue Heart directly to the raised circle.  I also die cut four of the Poppy Stamps Swirled Love Die and glued them together to make a thicker embellishment so that it would really stand up and be dimensional.  For this, I like to use Range Multi Medium Matte as tape runner doesn't work very well for something this intricate.  It tends to catch on the paper and wrinkle or tear it.

Since I used Red Lacquer Cardstock, I'll need to add a white panel inside of the card for my personal note to my hubby.  I also like to add a little Ghiradelli Square or two in there as well.  I try very hard not to use sequins or bling on cards for my husband, but it takes great restraint.

Thanks for stopping by today to see my project.  Next time I hope to have a card sharing new Memory Box Valentine's 2020 Collection dies.  Have a great day!

Watercolored Joy and a Mistletoe Swag by Jean Okimoto

Layer Twas the Night Wide Washi Tape over the Mistletoe Swag for a new look combining two special holiday designs.  The bold Joy Airy Script - watercolored to match the berries - and clear gem stickers add the final touch.  Hello, Jean Okimoto here with my last holiday card of a very quick and busy year.  Mistletoe isn't usually bright green with pink berries...but it is today.

MemoryBoxMistletoeSwagClearStamps, MemoryBoxStylishFrameTrio, MemoryBoxJoyAiryScript, MemoryBoxTwasTheNightWideWashiTape,JeanOkimoto, ImagineCrafts, WideWashiTape, ClearStamps, ClearHolidayStamps,CircleDiecuts, WordDiecuts,ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Stamp the large swag from the Mistletoe Swag Clear Stamps Set on watercolor paper with Pinecone VersaFine Clair.  Emboss it with detail clear powder.

Paint it with diluted inks from the Fruitcake Kaleidacolor inkpad. Yes, fruitcake!  Dry the inks, then cover it with a layer of Twas the Night Wide Washi Tape.  Cut it with the large Stylish Frame.  Diecutting the tape-covered paper or cardstock leaves a smooth, beveled edge - it's a nice finishing touch on your cards.

Attach the frame to a 5-½" square white card. add the stamped circle - layer it over one of the delicate sections on the right side.

Paint a scrap of watercolor paper with the pink used for the berries.  Dry the ink, the cut it with Joy Airy Script.  Leave the dot over the "j" in the die until you need it.   Attach the greeting to the card.  Tiny dots or slivers of ScorTape or Couture Creations doublestick tape will attach it to the washi tape.

Add clear gem stickers.

Layering Twas the Night wide washi works with all of the Holiday 2019 clear stamps.  I wish I had used this technique sooner!  It's a great technique for tags too - the tape reinforces the hole punched for the cord or ribbon.

If you're in Seattle - join us for the Whittle, Scribble and Stack class at Impress on December 14th.  We're making 6 everyday cards  - two each with the Poppystamps Whittles, Memory Box Scribbles and stacking dies from Birch Press Designs.  We'll use several items from the Memory Box and Poppy 2020 Valentine Collection.  You'll love the new designs - and the wide range of heart-styles.  There's a heart for everyone!

Thanks for visiting - see you again next week...

Northern Lights Christmas
by Trina Pham

ABA7048A-F6C9-4A22-A766-3522598918BF

Hello everyone.  Inspired by this month’s challenge, I have another holiday card to share today.  One of my favorite Winter scenes to create is the Northern Lights/Aurora Borealis.  It’s simple to do, and yet it gives the most “wow” factor.   There are many different mediums that could be used, but my preference is ink blending.  But before I got inky, I did some partial die cutting with the Pine Tree Hill die to create the row of trees from black cardstock.

C87C068B-0386-486D-93B1-AB7C2DC38C29

Laura did a post on partial die cutting and essentially, anything under the cutting plate will cut.

E3CDD709-DF1D-41A2-9DEB-4AF004082E72

Used scissors to connect those partial die cut trees and create the front row of trees.

B95067EB-6DF7-49F0-8C00-B1131DEA9C0E

Partial die cut the double trees twice to create the back row of trees.

14ECAB89-4F94-4286-B5E3-3E9DA0F19146

Forgot to take a picture, but these lined up to create the row of trees as seen on the finished card.  Now onto the Northern Lights... but be forewarned, it’s going to look like a hot mess before things come together in the end. 😂

C3451620-001A-447C-A968-0DCFA528B6ED

Started by adding streaks of Twisted Citron, Mermaid Lagoon and Wilted Violet distress inks (di) to a piece of Bristol paper using the edge of a mini blending tool.

880C6166-3A0F-49EB-AF1D-98084E7E417B

Next applied Chipped Sapphire di in between the colors and Black Soot di around the edges... and that pretty much completes the background.  I know it still doesn’t look that great, but persevere till the end and it will turn out. 😉  For sone sparkle, spritz it with a DIY shimmer spray (couldn’t capture it in the photo).

4345B1DD-6E52-4E03-AA4A-03F8ADD2A72D

Adhered the trees to the bottom, then splattered with white gouache paint.  Die cut the Peace Airy Script sentiment three times from Bristol paper and stacked them for dimension to finish.

386A2146-A35A-4CCD-A61B-E95ADD883CF3

Hope you will give this a try.  Thank you for joining me.  Have a great day.
