Peace on Earth
by Michelle Bala

13

Hello there! Michelle here, sharing a Christmas card using the amazing Ruffled Poinsettia Die!!!

This card is fairly simple to create. Here is how I went about it...I die cut the poinsettia three times.

I colored the petals, leaves, and flower centers with Copic Markers. I left the frame of the petals and leaves

white.
13

The lighter poinsettia Copic colors: RV00, RV02, RV04.  The darker poinsettia Copic colors: RV63, RV66, RV69.

For the leaves: G40, G43, G46. For the flower centers: YR21, YR24. I splattered white paint on the leaves and petals and set aside to dry.

I used a piece of black card stock for the background. Splattered some white and gold paint and set aside to dry.

I die cut Peace sentiment twice, once with silver glitter card stock the other with basic black card stock. I adhered them

together slightly off center to create a shadow. Emboss and trim the sentiment from the stamp set Tidings Wreath.

13

Assemble the card as you desire. This is the fun part! You can arrange the flowers and sentiments any way you choose!

I adhered the poinsettias first with foam tape. Than I trimmed the over hang. Than I adhered the die cut sentiment,

also with foam tape. The embossed sentiment I adhered with glue.

For a finishing touch, I added some Stickles clear glitter glue to the flower centers.

Hope you give this a try!!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Simple Noel Card with Dashing Holiday Papers
by Vicki Finger

IMG_2091 (2)

Hello there!  It's Vicki here with you today featuring a quick and easy holiday card using some of the products from the 2019 Holiday Release.  There's just a little more than 3 weeks left (not counting Sundays when there is no mail) to send out your holiday cards before Christmas is here.  Although, I can tell you I never mind it when I get a few after Christmas Day either.  So even if you're a few days late, send them anyhow!

For today's card, I started with a white card base made with Cougar Super Smooth Digital White Cardstock.  Using the 2nd largest Rectangle Basics die, I cut one from the teal, green, and white Snowflake Pattern Paper you can find in the Dashing Holiday Paper Pack.  As usual, I gave it several mists of shimmer spray and then set it under a heavy glass block I have to dry flat.

Next, I die cut the Antique Holly Label from White and Green Shimmer Cardstock.    I adhered the white outline to the patterned paper, then I inlaid the sentiment strip and the holly leaves of the green shimmer cardstock into the outline using Ranger Multi Medium Matte.

IMG_2097

I die cut the Noel word from Mini Vintage Varsity Christmas dies.  To do this, I ran a strip of white cardstock, slightly larger than my sentiment through my little Xyron Sticker Maker before cutting this so that these tiny letters would already have adhesive on them.  This made placement super easy.  I usually start with the center one or two letters and then work my way out to keep everything pretty centered.  I don't measure, I just eyeball it.  *Ü*

IMG_2116

I embellished the holly leaves with some "hole-less" sequins in three sizes for the berries.  You could use Liquid Pearls, Nuvo Drops or any sequins or gems you might have on hand.  Once the glue was dry, I added my panel to the front of my card base.

IMG_2114

Looking through my stash of embellishments, I found these cute little snowflakes which added the perfect whimsical touch. This was a quick and easy card and would be very easy to recreate in multiples if you wanted.

Have a fantastic day and I'll be back next week with a new project for you.

Ombre Washi Tape Holiday Card
by Laura Fulcher

IMG_2251

Greetings friends.  Today I wanted to share a card I made using some of the new wide washi tape from Memory Box.  I decided on a purple ombre card, but you could use any color that you like.  I chose purple because it is my mom's favorite and I wanted to make her a purple Christmas card.  You don't have to restrict yourself to red and green!

Step 1 was to glue 1/2" strips of purple cardstock onto a cardstock base going from dark to light purple.  I added a 1/2" strip of white cardstock in the center as a spacer for my purple strips:

IMG_2246

There was a little extra of my base cardstock showing at the top.  I used a larger base than I knew would be on my finished card because I knew once I was done with the strips and tape, I would want to trim everything with my paper cutter so that the strips would match.

The next step was to add a piece of the Twas the Night washi tape over my purple gradient cardstock:

IMG_2247

After I added the tape, I trimmed everything and layered it onto my card.  As a final step, I added the Snowflake Marquee die above and below my sentiment that I stamped in purple Versafine ink.

Here is a close up:

I hope if you are traveling for Thanksgiving that you have a very safe trip!

Joy Christmas Ornament
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_0353

Hi everyone!  Today I have a fun Christmas ornament project for you.

To create the ornament, I used the "Twas the Night Wide Washi Tape" to cover a wooden ornament I bought at the craft store.  I trimmed the excess tape from the ornament and used a piece of sandpaper the smooth the edges.

IMG_0351

I stamped the word "Joy" and heat embossed it with red embossing powder.  I sponged the edge of the ornament with white acrylic and sprinkled glitter over the paint.

IMG_0352

Next I die cut the "Antique Pine Label Die" from a piece cardstock from the 6"x 6" Dashing Stripes and Dots paper pad.  I cut the pine branches from the label and glued them to the top of the ornament.  I used a gold paint pen to color the top of the ornament.

IMG_0355

To finish the ornament, I spattered it with white acrylic paint and added some red pearls for berries.

I hope enjoyed this project and have a great week!

The new Scribble Leaf Bundle Background and Scribble Leaf Bundle Outline dies are the perfect pair for quick cards. Stamping the casual greetings from the Bold Friendly Greetings Clear Stamps set directly onto the cards saves even more time.  Hello, Jean Okimoto here with a set of six simple notecards for a hostess- or teacher-gift that's sure to be appreciated.

Paint watercolor paper with soft, overlapping layers of earthy colors.  I've used Kaleidacolor dye ink refills.  Air-dry it, then spritz it with Imagine Crafts Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz.  Heat-set it.

Cut a set plus one extra leaf with the Scribble Leaf Bundle Background.  Cut a set plus an extra leaf of the Scribble Leaf Bundle Outline from matte gold cardstock.

Cut  two 1-½" x 2-¾" rectangles of green, yellow and orange cardstock.  The  Rectangle Basics set is temporarily unavailable from Memory Box - your Retailer may have some.

Attach the diecuts to side-folded A-2 cards of cream cardstock.  Add green, orange and yellow gem stickers.

It's quick and easy - and not boring, because each leaf is as unique as its watercolored background.  Hope you'll have some time to make a few cards this week, especially quick and easy cards.

Scribble Holly Trio Outlines
by Vicki Finger

IMG_1172

Hello!  Vicki here with you today sharing a project that is very simple but elegant card for you.  This card uses the Scribble Holly Trio Outlines dies with some very old Creative Memories Patterned Paper.  I was a long time Creative Memories Consultant - like 20 years, so you know I have a lot of paper from back then. Most of it is not really suitable for cardmaking because it isn't heavy enough and I'm normally not much for a patterned paper.  However, when I was looking through my scrap stash today, I came across this scrap that I've been saving and I thought it was just perfect for my card.  I'm pretty sure this was from a collection called Reminisce Noel but I don't know if I am remembering that correctly or not.   I would consider this a collage style of paper and I wish I had more of it, but I only have scraps left by now. You can see a little of the shimmer mist here, but I kept it very subtle.

IMG_1211

I started by die cutting the Scribble Holly from Gold Cardstock and an Olive Shimmer.  For Die Cut Inlay techniques, it doesn't get any simpler than this.  I just popped the green parts out and moved them to the inside of the gold ones.  I love how the gold outlines add so much without taking over the whole card.

IMG_1206

There are dies that cut the whole inside of the leaves, but I don't have them and I don't feel that I need to have them.  As I said, it was simply a matter of popping out the gold and popping in the green.  I hope that when people receive my cards, their first thought is "oh, how pretty", but their second thought is that they really appreciate the details and thought that went into the card.

I used some deep red gems that I've also had for several years for the berry cluster. I have a zippy bag on my desk that contains all of my bling collected through the years.  Since I primarily use little crystals or pearls, I don't get into the bag often, but this was just the thing needed to give a little pop of color and dimension to this card.

IMG_1209

I used the Brush Merry Christmas Die for my Sentiment.  This is one of my favorites as I really like dies that have the whole saying in them. I usually run my cardstock through my Xyron and then die cut it which is what I did here.  Once I place the sentiment down, I put the die over the sentiment and pop out the dot for the "i" (called the "tittle") with my craft pick so that I have it placed correctly.  This makes it super easy to get it in the correct spot.  As always, I used Rectangle Basics Dies to cut my layers for the backgrounds.  This is a super quick card to make if you want something that is fast that you can easily make multiples of.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Spritz, Emboss and Layer the Chandele Snowflake by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxChandeleSnowflake, MemoryBoxMistletoeSwagClearStampsSet, MemoryBoxCircleBasics, JeanOkimoto, Kaleidacolor, EmbossingWithDies, SnowflakeCards, SnowflakeDiecuts, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, CardsWithWatercoloredBackgrounds

Celeberate the season with the delicate Chandele Snowflake - layered over its embossed image for extra dimension.  Add a pair of greetings from the Mistletoe Swag Clear Stamps Set and glittery blue accents.  Hi there - Jean Okimoto here on a winter-y fall weekend.

MemoryBoxChandeleSnowflake, MemoryBoxMistletoeSwagClearStampsSet, MemoryBoxCircleBasics, JeanOkimoto, Kaleidacolor, EmbossingWithDies, SnowflakeCards, SnowflakeDiecuts, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, CardsWithWatercoloredBackgrounds

Have a water spritzer ready for this process.  Snap the Kaleidacolor Blue Breeze ink colors together with the lever on the side of the inkpad.  Lift and roll a 4" soft rubber brayer over the inks about 20 times for complete coverage.  Spritz it lightlty with two short bursts of water.  Spritz the inked brayer lightly too.  Roll the brayer over the damp watercolor paper to create a variegated blue background.  Let the inks airdry for a few minutes, then dry it completely with a heat-tool.  Spray with Imagine Crafts Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz.  Heat-set it.

Cut it with the 3" Circle Basics die.  The die set is temporarily unavailable from Memory Box but your Retailer may have some.  Pressure-emboss it with the Chandele Star die - slightly offset.

Cut Chandele Snowflake from white cardstock.  Attach it to the circle.

Separate the inks using the lever.  Stamp the greeting - from the Mistletoe Swag Clear Stamp Set - with the ink in the center section.  Stamp the second portion of the greeting inside the card.

MemoryBoxChandeleSnowflake, MemoryBoxMistletoeSwagClearStampsSet, MemoryBoxCircleBasics, JeanOkimoto, Kaleidacolor, EmbossingWithDies, SnowflakeCards, SnowflakeDiecuts, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, CardsWithWatercoloredBackgrounds

Diecut the tiny ovals surrounding the starburst in the center of the die from a scrap of blue glittered cardstock.   Attach everything to a white A-6 (4-½" x 6-¼") card.

Why not brayer some extra backgrounds while your supplies are out - be sure to clean the roller before each re-inking.  Your backgrounds will be ready when you need them for future projects.

We'll use similar techniques in the November 30th OUTSIDE THE BOX holiday cards class at Impress.  We're making variations of cards inspired by my designs here on the blog.  Not identical to these cards - lots of tweaking and techniques - and we're using some Poppystamps and Birch Press Design products too.  Join us if you're in the Seattle area that weekend.  Skip the malls, enjoy lots of parking and support Memory Box and Impress on Small Business Saturday!

Thanks for visiting - have a great weekend...

Twelve Days of Holiday Cards - Day Five
by Vicki Finger

IMG_0957

Hi everyone!  Vicki here with you today using a few dies from the Memory Box Holiday 2019 Release.  I am in the midst of my first ever Holiday Card Series, "Twelve Days of Holiday Cards" so this post is doing double duty today.  I was not sure what to create for today's card, so as I often do when I don't have a set project in mind, I grabbed a few dies that I've been wanting to work with and sat down to see what happened when I played around a bit.

Starting with a panel of Cougar Super Smooth Digital White Cardstock, I used the Starry Burst Die to cut and emboss the panel. I'm sorry it's so hard to see the embossed detail but you'll be able to see it below in the supplies list.  As you can see in the photo below, this cuts very small stars from the center of the embossed bursts.  Because I also wanted to combine it with the Holiday Heart Star from the most recent Holiday Release, I took the smallest die from the Shining Star Die Set and centering it carefully over each burst, I die cut these star openings to be larger.  I misted it all over with some clear shimmer mist and some gold shimmer mist, both from Imagine Crafts.

IMG_0942

I like to use Frog Tape for Delicate Surfaces.  I know a lot of folks like to use Washi Tape, but in my experience, it tears my paper every time.  And purple tape I find to be too expensive for as much die cutting as I do. My roll is about an inch wide, so I tear off a piece and then tear that piece in half longways. Plus I can use the same piece about 20 times before I have to replace it.  As you can see, I'm not using too much at once.  I bought my roll about 3 years ago and still have more than half of it left.  It's easy to find on Amazon.

So I have five larger star openings after I die cut all of the stars in this way onto my panel.  To create dimension, I put foam tape all over the backside, including all four sides and all the spaces in-between so it wouldn't sag in the middle. I added a gold glitter panel behind the stars which gave it instant dimension.

Next, I started playing with the Holiday Heart Star and the middle-sized Shining Star Die to see if I wanted white to be the top or bottom layer.  I liked the white for the bottom layer, so I went all over the white star piece with my Spectrum Noir Shimmer Pen.  Then I die cut the top layer using the Holiday Heart Star in Gold Glitter Cardstock.

IMG_0910

I love to take the fun little bits and pieces from the dies, which in this case are the little hearts, and see if I can find a way to use them on my card.  I added one of the little hearts to the center opening of the Holiday Heart Star.  I still had lots of little hearts left so I cut a few more of the white stars in the smallest size and one of the next size up from the same Gold Glitter.  I adhered a heart in the center of each star and to one of those, I added that third layer of gold glitter on one of the white stars.

Next, I figured out the placement I wanted to use for this card and placed a double thickness of foam tape behind each one of them.  The upper right-hand star sits down in the opening of that star so it doesn't pop up as much as the others.  I played around until I had a placement I liked while not covering up too much of the background stars.

IMG_0963

When I finished all of that, I still had a few little gold glitter hearts, so I grouped three of them and glued them directly to the card panel.  I think this is a fun card that could be used for a birthday card or a New Year's card as well, so I opted not to put a sentiment on at this time.

IMG_0904

Each year for the last 18 years or so, some friends of ours in Dallas host a New Year's Party at their home, kids included.  I worked with both of them at the same telecommunications company and we were all working on Y2K stuff.  Bill now works at the same company as my husband.  While I was taking care of my grandson, Charlie, all the time before he started school, Andrea and Bill were having their first child whose birthday is just 10 days after Charlie's.  So Andrea and I spent a good deal of time together letting the boys play while we chatted.  Those boys turn 19 in January, and I worked with them a few years before that, so we have known each other for more than 20 years.  We really enjoy it!  We play Pictionary Guys vs. Girls and we girls always win!  There's a group of about 40 of us, maybe more.  I am planning on saving this card to give them on that occasion!

I hope you enjoyed this fun little change of pace card.  It was fun to sit down with a few dies in mind and see if I could figure out how to use them together.  Thank you so much for stopping by today.  Don't forget to stop over at my blog and leave a comment for your chance to win one of the 12 prizes up for grabs during my "Twelve Days of Holiday Cards" series!
