November Challenge Inspiration
by Vicki Finger

Hello!  Vicki here with you today.  I thought I would give you all a bit of challenge inspiration by using a patterned paper from the new Memory Box Dashing Holiday Paper Pad.  I thought it would be super cute to have a simple wreath made from the newly released Jovial Wreath Die with the Classic Ice Skates as the focal point of the wreath.

I started by selecting one of the patterned papers from the Dashing Holiday Paper Collection.  The one I chose is the green diagonal plaid with grey and a little bit of white.  I misted it with shimmer mist and set it aside to dry while I did the rest of my die-cutting.

The white frame is a single layer that I had leftover from when I made the Shining Dove card several days ago.  That post is here.  This provided the perfect guideline for adding my wreath to the card.   I love it that with so many of the Memory Box frame dies can be mixed and matched with others in your collection.

I die cut three of the Jovial Wreaths from #110 Metallic Pearlized Nickel Cardstock.  Next, I layered up each layer how I wanted them to look which was with the foliage primarily at the top of the wreath.  You could do it anywhere you want.

I then cut three of the Classic Ice Skates dies and glued them one on top of the other to make a thicker element.  This gives a much more 3D appearance to the skates.  Using a silver metallic pen, I colored the blades of the ice skates. This was the easiest way to get a color match to the nickel cardstock.

Next, I went back to my patterned paper and using Stick-It Adhesive, attached it to a piece of plain white cardstock so that it would be thicker.  Then I die cut it with Rectangle Basics in the 2nd to the largest size. YOu can really see the shimmer in some of the angles.

I added that to a top folding card base, then continued to add the other elements into the card.  First came the frame, then the wreaths, and then the ice-skates.  I had planned to use white pearls for the decorative elements on the wreath, but when I placed them without adhesive, it was not enough contrast and so I switched over to Gold Foiled Pearls.

For the sentiment, I die cut three of the "Peace" Cheshire Script die cut words and glued them together as well, placed them in the bottom center space that was open and added a large gold pearl on each side of the word.  Without those, I felt like the sentiment kind of got lost in the rest of the card.

Although you can't see the shimmer in this photo, you can really see it in the next one.  I love adding shimmer mist to winter-themed cards for the frosty look.

There was no stamping required for this card, just die cutting which is how I started making cards.  I used to detest stamping until the MISTI came along.  But I also enjoy just selecting a group of die cuts to work with and seeing how it all plays out once it's assembled.  I like this card much more than with the white pearls I tried first, and I hope you do too.
