Welcome to another Blog Blitz day! What fun we're having with the new 2019 Holiday release from Memory Box! You can find a link to the entire release here--great stamps and dies for fall and winter to celebrate the holidays and every day. There are new idea books as well, one for Halloween and one for Christmas, and they are full of inspiration for creating your own cards. The Design Team members are showing you some of their new samples each day this week Monday the 26th through Sunday the 1st and offering up prizes in exchange for comments. Join the fun!
How about using the Winter Tree Frame to make an autumn card?! Combined with some stamps from the Grateful Autumn clear stamps set, this makes a great card for my favorite season of the year.
I started with a white notecard, a pile of Distress Inks in fall colors--Wild Honey, Squeezed Lemonade, Crushed Olive, and Gathered Twigs--and a round foam padded ink blending tool to create a soft background. You can see in the picture how I started my blending tool on the scrap paper before moving it to the cardstock using a circular motion.
I die cut the WINTER TREE FRAME 94303 from dark brown cardstock.
I used 1/8" Scor-Tape to secure the large frame to the top two thirds of the notecard. I used more of that tape to then add the smaller tree frame inside, bringing it close to the left lower corner of the larger frame. (The color really changed in this photograph with different lighting.)
I wanted a bit more color on the bottom third of the card so I chose two small maple leaves from the GRATEFUL
AUTUMN Clear Stamps Set CL5243 and inked them up with Wild Honey Distress ink and stamped them randomly in the open space. I chose "autumn" from the same stamp set, inked it with VersaFine Clair Pinecone ink, and nestled it among the leaves.
I added squash dot papers to the inside of the card and lined an envelope with it.
That's it!
This will be a great card to replicate for fall in other colors like reds and oranges with maple leaves or in browns and golds with oak leaves. And because there's so much space in the square frames, other background techniques and decorative papers will be fun to try. Perhaps I'll even make it into a winter/holiday card!
Want a chance to win the Winter Tree Frame? Just leave me a comment on this post any time before Sunday, Sept. 1 at 11:59 PM. One comment will be selected at random to win it! All contest winners for the week will be announced on the Outside the Box blog on Monday, Sept. 2 at 6 PM EST. Good luck!
Happy Crafting!
