Greetings friends. Today I want to talk about watercoloring your die cuts. For my project today, I started by cutting my poinsettia and leaves out of 140lb cold press watercolor paper. I then chose to color them with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I like the control you get by using a marker rather than paint and a brush.
I started with my poinsettia petals and placed my darkest color of red:
Next, I softened the edges with a pink marker. The pink is a much lighter color, but because it has a brush nib, the red won't end up staining the pink nib:
I left a little bit of white space on the edges so that I could soften the pink with a waterbrush and get a gradient of color:
Next it was on to the leaves. I did the same process, but with my greens:
To finish the card, I added an oval from a Halloween set, a sentiment and a few rhinestones for the center of the poinsettia.
Adding color to a card is wonderful, but what about a monochromatic look? Dave Brethauer made a gorgeous monochromatic card for the latest catalog. It is a great card to me mass produced for the holidays:
Now it is giveaway time! For your chance to win the new Ruffled Poinsettia die, leave a comment on this blog post by 11:59 pm EST Sunday, September 1. The winner will be randomly selected and announced right here on this blog the next day on Monday, September 2. Good luck!

Your cards are lovely! I really like the poinsettia one because I'm a fan of poinsettias. All the colors go perfectly together. What an inspiration! Sure hope I win this one. If not, I will have to get it for myself. Thanks for the inspiration. The white card is sheer elegance!! Great job on both cards!!
