Greetings friends. Aaagh...a new release of Halloween/Fall and Holiday items. There are stamps as well as dies, so be sure to check out the Memory Box website to see all of the new goodies.
I wanted to make a Halloween card, and I was inspired to make a blue themed card since I had never made a Halloween card with blue before.
To make the background, I started with 140lb cold pressed watercolor paper and taped it down onto a board to help keep it flat. I then wet the paper with water and added random splotches of blue watercolor paint on top. Next, I added a bit of white and grey watercolor paint. I find that those two colors often give you a marbled effect. Once the paint dried, I splattered it with silver metallic watercolor paint. I let the paper dry before doing this so that the silver paint would have distinct splotches and wouldn't bleed into the other colors:
One of the things I like to do with a background is cut out my die cuts from the center and then use the rest of the paper as a background. The layers you add to the card hide the fact that there is a big hole in your background. You end up with die cuts that match your background and you also get the most use out of your paper:
The final step was to layer everything and add a few silver clouds before popping the witch up with foam tape.
I hope you are as excited as I am about the new release! Save the date for Monday, August 26th. We will be starting a blog blitz with the latest goodies and you will have a chance to win prizes!
Love this. That haunted house oval is boo-tastic. Hugz

This is really cute, rather than scary. I LOVE the witch holding a lantern. Is she spooked and checking out a noise? Very cute.
