Today's card got me playing with pearlized alcohol inks, blending solution and alcohol ink cardstock.
materials used:
- white notecard
- Ranger Alcohol Ink Cardstock
- Ranger Alcohol Pearl Inks--Intrigue (pink) and Tranquil (blue)
- Ranger Alcohol Ink Blending Solution
- paper straw; paintbrush
- COTTAGE FLOWER CIRCLE FRAME 9424
- SOFIA BUTTERFLY 94234
- "expect miracles" stamp from SPRINGTIME TYPEWRITER SENTIMENTS Clear Stamps Set CL5239
- VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink (medium gray)
- glue pen, pop dot, tiny bow , glue dot, tiny pearls in two sizes
To start I put drops of the alcohol inks onto the alcohol ink cardstock followed by drops of the blending solution. Because these are pearl inks I had to shake the bottles a bit first to mix in the pearlized material. I used a straw held close to the paper and blew the inks around a bit. I kept adding ink and blending solution, blowing it around with the straw, until I liked the way it looked.
Then I used the paintbrush soaked with blending solution to spatter the design. This added interesting little drops and more texture.
From this panel I die cut the Cottage Flower Circle Frame and adhered it to the front of the top-fold notecard.
You can see in this closeup photo where I added the extra flower sprig to the inside right-hand side of the circle frame and used tiny pearls for the flower centers.
I repeated the inks and blending solution process to make another panel for cutting out the Sofia Butterfly.
I stamped "expect miracles" in the lower left corner after popping the butterfly on the upper left. I rounded the bottom corners of the card and added a small white bow with a pearl in its center. Done! Another card ready for almost any occasion.
I wish photos could show more easily the shine on these die cut pieces. The pearlized inks glisten on the alcohol ink cardstock and look almost like enamel. I also love the way that two colors of ink blend to create more colors. I can tell that I'm going to need a larger supply of alcohol ink cardstock for future projects!
Happy Crafting!
