Large Double Peony and Little Dragonflies by Jean Okimoto

P1110464 2

A trio of Little Dragonflies and a Large Double Peony create a simple summer card today.  Soft peach tones, gold and gray highlight the pressure-embossed peony.  Hello, Jean Okimoto here with a quick card you can use for any occasion.

Cut arroyo cardstock with the 2" x 3-¼" Rectangle Basics die.  Round the top right and bottom left corners.

Pressure-emboss Large Double Peony using the embossing mat and plates required for your machine.  Attach the diecut to the embossed background, slightly offset for dimenson and shadows.

Cut Little Dragonflies from gold mirror cardstock.

Cut accent strips - ¾" x 3" of arroyo cardstock, ¾" x 3-¾" of textured gold paper from Shizen Design and ¾" x 4-½" of flintstone cardstock.

Score and fold a side-folded A-2 card of coral creme cardstock.  Round the top right and bottom left corners.

Attach the diecuts and strips to the card.

Christmas in July Rose Bouquet
by Anne Thompson

Usually I spend a good part of July getting a head start on my Christmas cards.  Not so this year!  I have one, and here it is featuring the Rose Bouquet from the ROSE BOUQUET CLEAR STAMP SET CL5241.

IMG_1614

I began this card by stamping the large Rose Bouquet image on a piece of off-white cardstock using VersaFine Clair Nocturne Ink (black).   I then got out all of my red and green PrismaColor pencils and began coloring the images, layering on a variety of shades and using different pressures and a small circular motion to color both the flowers and the leaves until I was pleased with the look.  I used just a bit of yellow for the many-petaled star-shaped flower center.

To add some snow-like shine, I used a very water-wet brush and silver Finetec metallic watercolor paint available from Birch Press Design to spatter the image.

IMG_1609

I trimmed the Rose Bouquet to a bit smaller than a standard A2 card, added a green mat under it which left a very narrow border, and adhered this to a dark red notecard.

I die cut the PEACE CHESHIRE SCRIPT 94017 twice from silver cardstock, glued the two together for more dimension and then glued it to the lower right of the card.

IMG_1610

Voila!

IMG_1608

This has made me think about other floral stamps and dies I have that might be treated to a red and green makeover for Christmas cards.  Hmm...

Happy Crafting!

A Simple Hello
by Melissa Rusk

Happy Friday! Today I have fun card using one of my favorite techniques, paper weaving.

IMG_0288

I started with 1/4 inch wide strips of paper, I cut 7 blue and 7 yellow. I placed the yellow strips close together and taped the top of them to the table with washi tape. Then I took each of the blue strips and wove them into the yellow one by one. Once the weaving was finished I took the tape off and used some liquid glue to secure it before gluing it down to the card.
IMG_0288

On top of my paper weaving I placed the pretty Layered Poppy that I die cut in white paper. I die cut it twice and glued them together to give the flower some more dimension. I finished the card with the stamped hello from the Big and Little words stamp set and glued down some little dew drop gems.

I hope you have a great weekend!

Say Hello with Scribble Roses and Scribble Fronds by Jean Okimoto

P1110436

Say hello with embossed, layered Scribble Roses and Scribble Fronds...it's quick and easy and perfect for a simple summer greeting.  Hello, Jean Okimoto here with another design featuring the the versatile Scribble Roses Outline and Scribble Roses Background dies.

P1110443

Cut Scribble Roses background from watercolor paper.  Pressure-emboss the diecuts with the detailed Scribble Roses Outline dies using the embossing mat and plates required for your machine.

Brush Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide over the embossed diecuts.  Stack and adhere the three Scribble Roses.

Cut Scribble Frond Background and Scribble Frond Outline from Flintstone cardstock.

Cut the 2" x 3-¼" Wrapped Stitch Rectangle from white cardstock.

Cut ¾" x 4-¾" amd ¾" x 3-¾" strips of Coral Creme and Patina cardstock.

Stamp "hello" - from the Big and Little Words Clear Stamps Set - on white cardstock with VersaMark.  Heat-emboss it with detail clear powder.  Sponge the cooled cardstock with Morning Mist VersaFine Claire.  I think this is easier - and smoother - than white-embossing it on dark cardstock.  Trim the greeting.

Attach everything to a top-folded Kraft A-2 card - use foam dots for the greeting.  Add ¼" circles of silver glitter cardstock.

P1110439

I love finding different ways to use my Memory Box dies - hope you do too!  We'll start making holiday cards at Impress this Satureday - and discover more ways to use the great holiday (and un-holiday) dies and stamps on unique cards.  Hope you'll join us if you're in the Seattle area.

Thanks for stopping by...see you again next week!

Simple Striped Cards with Scribble Leafy Branch Background and Scribble Frond Background
by Anne Thompson

Need a really simple quick card?  Let the background paper do most of the work for you!

IMG_1561

I started with striped papers, cut them to 4 X 5.25, and adhered them to brightly colored notecards.

IMG_1560

I then die cut the SCRIBBLE LEAFY BRANCH BACKGROUND 94275 and the SCRIBBLE FROND BACKGROUND 94573  from solid colored cardstocks in orange, yellow, and blue/green.  I used a glue pen to attach them to the three card fronts.

IMG_1562

The leaves looked kind of plain so I added fabric flowers to the orange and yellow ones and a bow to the blue-green leaves, securing them with GlueDots.  There's still plenty of room on the front of each card to add an appropriate sentiment when I'm ready to send them off.

IMG_1561

Look through your printed papers and match them up with pretty colored notecards.  Then add your favorite die cut images cut from coordinating cardstocks.  Maybe you'll add bows, flowers, pearls or sequins for a little extra bling.  Have fun!!!

Happy Crafting!

MemoryBoxRoseBouquetClearStampsAndDieSet, MemoryBoxRectangleBasics, MemoryBoxScribblePosiesOutline, MemoryBoxScribblePosiesBackground, JeanOkimoto, ImaigneCrafts, VersaFineClair, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, FeltDiecuts, FeltFlowers

It's a good day to send happy thoughts with the Rose Bouquet Clear Stamps and Die Set and felt Scribble Posies.  The diecut bouquet creates a bold - but delicate - backdrop for the posies and a sweet greeting from the stamp set will brighten someone's day.  Hello, hope it's a great weekend for you - Jean Okimoto here with a versatile design that works with just about any greeting from this uplifting stamp set.

MemoryBoxRoseBouquetClearStampsAndDieSet, MemoryBoxRectangleBasics, MemoryBoxScribblePosiesOutline, MemoryBoxScribblePosiesBackground, JeanOkimoto, ImaigneCrafts, VersaFineClair, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, FeltDiecuts, FeltFlowers

Stamp the bouquet on smooth white cardstock with Shady Lane VersaFine Clair.  Diecut it with the coordinating die from the set.  Trim the left and bottom edges with the 4-¼" x 5-½" Rectangle Basics die.

Stamp two of the leaves and diecut them.

Attach adhesive label paper (or a sticker sheet) to peach and orange felt.  The paper backing stabilizes the felt and keeps adhesives from soaking through.  Cut the big Scribble Posies Backgroud and  Scribble Posies Outline from peach felt.  Cut the center from orange felt.

Cut the Scribble Posies Outline again from peach cardstock - we're using just the delicate outline and center here.  Assemble the flower.

Stamp the greeting on smooth white cardstock with Shady Lane.  Diecut it with the ¾" x 2" Rectangle Basics die.

Attach everything to a side-folded A-2 card of textured white cardstock.  Add green gem stickers.

Felt comes in so many pretty colors - and adds texture and dimension to papercrafts.  Memory Box dies are perfect for cutting colorful felt accents and design elements.  High-quality wool-blend felt minimizes the fuzzies and frayed edges.

Merry & Bright
by Donna Sledzik

Hello everyone,

I couldn't let the month go by without creating a "Christmas in July" card.

IMG_5587

I also wanted to show you how versatile your dies can be.  I used the Birds and Blossoms craft die to create my Christmas Card.  All I did was cut off the flowers from the die cut then added Red Nuvo drops for berries in their place.

IMG_5584

I die cut the Birds and Blossoms from watercolor paper.  I lightly traced the circle opening on my white cardbase and sponged it with Broken China Distress ink.  I spattered it with clean water and used a paper towel to pick up the water.  This left my background looking like it had snowed.  I used foam tape and adhered my card front to my cardbase.

IMG_5585

I die cut the pine branches and the holiday lamp post from white cardstock.  I used only the circle with the tree branches and cut away the lamp post.

All the die cuts were painted with Distress Inks.  I also painted a red strip of paper that I used to white heat emboss my sentiment.

To assemble the card, I glued the Birds and Blossom into the circle.  Next I glued the pine tree circle on top of that.  The birds were adhered to the card using foam tape.  I spattered the circle area with white acrylic paint and then added my red Nuvo drops.

I used foam tape to adhere my sentiment strip.

IMG_5586

To finish the card, I glued the pine branches to the top left side of the card front and added a red button in the center of the branches.

I hope this inspires you get a jump start on your Christmas cards!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Simple Rose Bouquet Twofers
by Trina Pham

Hi everyone.  I have two cards to share today using the Rose Bouquet stamp set from the April release.  At the retreat I attended in May, Linda showed us how combining two basic techniques can give gorgeous results.

F4B80D13-2FB3-4E22-B2F7-354B18ECDA88

All it involves is ink blending and heat embossing!  How simple is that?!  I started by ink blending Distress Oxide (DOx) inks on Bristol paper. Used Faded Jeans, Stormy Sky and Iced Spruce on one and Wilted Violet, Picked Raspberry and Spun Sugar on the other.  Let the panels dry completely.  This is very important before proceeding to the next step.  To speed up the process, I used my heat tool.

C6D0CE86-30BC-4D37-B21F-DFF51A526CC9

Once completely dry, I placed both panels into my MISTI, stamped the bouquet with VersaMark then heat embossed with white embossing powder.

4A3190B3-B7AD-4FAA-A179-DC0BB205099A

Love doing this with large stamps... stamp once and get two!  The blue panel was trimmed down and the sentiments from the same set was black heat embossed.

B3B19A54-C756-4E92-AD41-5EFE5B1BC531

Black splatters were added before matting it to a black panel leaving a 1/8”  border.

984088E9-98D5-4CC0-B407-CFA53DDBAE1A

For the other card, the sentiments from Big and Little Words were white heat embossed on black and trimmed down into strips.

FC987A7E-6147-41F5-B7E9-DD64538745A8

Left the panel A2 sized,

C54F8C50-A39F-401C-AE57-8C93AA0D5D4B

Applied clear shimmer to the flowers on both to finish.  And that does it for today. Thank you for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day.

Bright Birthday Fun!
by Melissa Rusk

Happy Monday! Today I have a bright and fun birthday card to get the week started.

IMG_0268

For this card I started with the Little Hibiscus Blossom die and cut it in white. Then I used my Zig Clean Color Brush pens to color the flower. I love the bright color that came from mixing pink and purple pens.
IMG_0268

On my card background I first stamped my sentiment from my favorite stamp set right now, Big and Little Words. I masked over the stamped area with some washi tape. Then I added four more strips of washi tape in two other sizes to make more stripes. I used a blending brush and some teal ink to make my striped background.

Once it was dry I glued everything together. Some clear dew drop gems finish it off.

Have a fabulous week everyone!
