Greetings friends. For the last day of 2018, I wanted to make a card that would be a prayer for the new year. I am hoping for much more peace and kindness in the world for 2019. I feel like we need it.
To make the background, I took some Colorburst Powders, sprinkled them onto a non-stick craft sheet, spritzed the whole thing with water and then dragged some 140lb watercolor paper through the mixture to get a splattered watercolor paint background. I used the Silver Colorburst Liquid Metal in with the colors so get a bit of a metallic shine. Here is a close up so that you can see the metallic better:
I cut out the word piece from the same watercolor paper so that it would match.
When I cut out the winged dove from white cardstock, I thought it was a bit to stark in color. To add a bit of emphasis to the wings, I lightly colored the outside edges with a blue watercolor pencil and the tiniest smidge of brown watercolor pencil. I then softened all of the pencil with a Dove Blender Pen.
To finish the card, I popped up the dove with foam tape and added a layer of silver metallic cardstock to pick up the silver in the watercolor background.
Happy New Year everyone. I wish you all much health, happiness and peace in the new year.
