Happy Friday everyone!
Today I have a Halloween theme birthday card. I have several friends that have birthdays in October that share my love of Halloween, so why not a Halloween birthday card!
To make this card I created a Distress Oxide inked background which I used behind the lamp die cut. I applied various colors of oxide inks to my craft mat and sprayed them with plain water. I took a piece of glossy cardstock and ran it through the inks. I used the heat tool to dry each layer before adding more ink.
Once the ink was dry on the paper, I used a blending tool with a foam applicator to apply Micro Glaze over the top of the inked paper. This will brighten up your color and bring out the layers of ink (I forgot to take a picture of the color before the glaze was applied).
Next I die cut the Hanging Lantern Frame from black cardstock and used only the inside circle portion of the die cut. I lightly applied Prima gold paste wax to the die cut to give it a vintage look.
I glued a piece of vellum behind the lantern and adhered the lantern die cut to the circle I cut from my background paper.
Using watercolor paper I inked the background for my card front with the same distress oxide inks and adhered my lantern die cut to the card front.
I die cut the bats and the word "wishing" from black cardstock and glued those to the card front. I stamped my sentiment using a couple of sentiments and masked off the words I didn't want to use.
Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you all have a great weekend!

Lovely card. And yes, that die would also be great for winter scenes, too!
