Holiday Card Holder
by Penny Ward

Purse4

Hello Memory Box friends. Penny here today with something a little different. I love to make cards and I love to sew purses...so I combined them a bit.

My friends love receiving a package of cards for them to send as they please, and I wanted to make the packaging a bit more fancy.

So today you are getting a purse tutorial that doubles as an A2 card holder.

The Purse Holder can carry about 7 cards. Less if you make bulky cards, more if you make one layer cards.

Purse-tech

Let's start with the actual box.

Cut heavy White cardstock 10 /34 x 7 inches. Score all the way around the panel at 2 1/2 inches.

Cut the long sides as shown. Fold the short edges towards the middle and adhere together to make a box.

Now for the fun part..... start with this Purse Template here or you can draw out your own and cut from Heavy White cardstock.

On the Purse Holder above I embossed the panel, added some pretty pattern paper, then die cut and colored Holly Flourish and Poinsettia Flourish.

I used Spectrum Noir markers, but you could use the medium of your choice.

Cut two strips for handles measuring 1/2 x 11 inches. Adhere them to Purse Holder about an inch from each side as shown.

For this little pretty, I embossed just the edge of the panel, then die cut Ric Rac Ribbons from Navy and Silver Metallic cardstocks.

Smallest of the Stitched Oval Layers was also die cut from Silver Metallic cardstock, then cut in half for the purse "latch".

Pine Wreath was die cut from Navy cardstocks and adhered to card front as shown.

The adorable tassel....cut a strip of Navy cardstock 4 x 2 inches. Snip every 1/4 inch coming just shy of cutting all the way through the scrap. Roll and glue in place. Add a skinny strip of Silver Metallic cardstock at the top. Add Silver cord and hang around purse strap.

Once you have the purse front made and embellished, adhere it to box. I didn't embellish the backside of the purse, but you could.

With Christmas just around the corner, this is a great way to pretty up some of your lovely handmade cards and give as gifts.

Happy Holiday Crafting,
