Metallic Butterfly
by Laura Fulcher

Greetings friends.  I always struggle to take pictures of metallic paper, and I realize that the front facing picture looks like I just used a yellow ochre cardstock.  I hope that the side view will help you see the shimmer better:

To make the card, I cut out the Summer Meadow Collage using black cardstock.  I had a leftover piece of watercolor paper that I had colored with Colorburst powders- both regular and metallic gold.  I didn't like that piece of watercolored paper, but it was perfect to save and use for die cutting.

I cut out a solid butterfly from my watercolor paper using one of the Butterfly Ensemble dies and then layered it behind the  black Summer Meadow Collage paper.  I thought the gold metallic in my watercolor paper would pair well with gold cardstock that I layered onto the card.

Finally, I embossed a sentiment from the Bird Sanctuary clear stamp set and added a bunch of gold rhinestones.  One hint I would like to share with you is to emboss the sentiment before you layer all the pieces of the card.  I made the mistake of gluing all the pieces together and then embossing the sentiment.  The heat from the heat gun ended up reacting to my adhesive and the front of the card became warped.  I had to put it under a heavy book to flatten it again.  Remember...heat emboss and then layer the card.

Stunning! xxx

Beautiful, I love your touch of shimmer to the one butterfly!!
