Woven Card
by Laura Fulcher

Woven2

Greetings friends.  When I saw the new Wave Ribbon Collage die, I thought of several ways that I wanted to use it....including turning it into an actual ribbon collage.  After all, who doesn't have a ton of paper scraps that need some way to use them?

To make the card, I cut out the wave ribbon from the front of a cream card:

I wanted the area to be bigger, so I moved the die down and cut it out a second time.  I didn't measure anything (not my style), and you can see it didn't match up in one spot on the right:

I used some scissors and trimmed it where the two dies didn't match.  Easy!

Next, I pulled out my assortment of scraps.  I have Colorburst powder papers, Gelli Plate papers, patterned papers, metallic papers, and some interesting handmade/textured papers from Birch Press Design.  I wanted to have a nice mixture of colors, textures, thicknesses, and patterns:

I cut strips of paper and then wove them through the die cut opening.  Hint...when you get to the end, it is easier to put in a strip that is not right next to the border.  I took a picture to show you what I mean.  The open area on the card shows you where I wove the last piece onto the card:

If you try to put in the last piece in next to the edge/border, you will have a better chance of ripping your paper as you weave.

Here is a close up once I trimmed the paper strips and glued them down.  I also added the thanks sentiment that is popped up on the card with some foam:

After I made the card, I couldn't help but think about how it would look out of a gold metallic card so that the tiny paper ribbons I would use to weave would be metallic.  Hmmmm.... plans for next time.

an exciting-looking design!

Fantastic card ! Love how you used this die ! I do not like to throw away those pretty left over paper pieces and this is a great way to use them. Thanks for sharing such a super idea!

When I saw the pic of this card I took a deep breath and said “I love this!” I even have the die. I’ll be making many of these in years to come! Awesome card!!!

GENIUS. Love this. Paper is upstairs waiting to be stripped. Thanks so much for the idea.

Just love what you did with this die, Laura!
