Grassland Collage, Little Dragonflies and Forget Me Not Blooms create an Asian-themed bit of May Challenge inspiration here today. Hello, Jean Okimoto here with a simple design for a quick card.
Cut black cardstock with the 4" x 5-¼" Rectangle Basics die. Cut it with the Grassland Collage.
Cut a silvery printed moon with the 1-¼" Circle Basics die. It's one of our most popular designs at Impress!
Brayer Glamorous VersaFine Clair onto smooth white cardstock and quickly emboss it with clear embossing powder. Sprinkle it with another layer of embossing powder while it's still warm and heat it again. Let it cool - then cut it with the flowers from the Forget Me Not Blooms die. Cut two of the smallest flower. It's a versatile 2-piece set.
Create other bright, glossy diecuts using the vibrant VersaFine Clair pigment inks and clear embossing powder. The Clairs dry quickly - have your embossing powder and heat tool ready.
Here's a tip...if the embossed flowers look a little scruffy after they've been diecut it's easy to refresh the embossing so they'll look like glossy enamel flowers again. Just attach Magic tape behind the flowers' offcut (negative) section, press the flowers lightly into their spaces and reheat them for a few seconds. The tape holds them in place temporarily and keeps your fingers safe. Remove the flowers while tape is still a bit warm...and they'll be a bright glossy red again!
Punch ¼" circles of black cardstock and attach them behind the bottom and right-side flowers. Attach the diecuts to a top-folded A-2 Kraft card.
Attach Scor-Tape behind silver mirror cardstock and cut two of the Little Dragonflies.
The Memory Box and Poppystamps Collections include many dies that are perfect for cards with a simple, understated Japanese theme. Bamboo, dragonflies, circles, frames, squares, koi, peonies, mums, branches and leaves are just a few of the designs we've used in our popular Asian classes at Impress.
Thanks for visiting...see you again on Thursday...
