Blue Valentine
by Penny Ward

Blue-valentine

Hello friends.  Penny here today with a Valentine's Day card....using no Red or Pink.!?!  In all honesty, I really just wanted to use the new Denim Blues sequins by Birch Press Designs and a red theme would just not work. But who says Valentine's Day has to be about Red? So I am starting a new trend with the Blue. :)

And here we go:

I used a monochromatic theme of Sky Blue cardstock. Make a base, then add the largest of the Wrapped Stitch Frames.

Please note that I have no idea why this picture looks mint green...UGH!

Die cut the smallest of the Wrapped Stitch Frames and Cheery Flower Stems. Adhere the Cheery Flower Stems to the center right of the card front. Add a pinch of Denim Blues sequins, then adhere the small Wrapped Stitch Frame over all of it. Don't forget to add a small panel of acrylic cardstock to back of Wrapped Stitch Frame BEFORE placing over sequins...ask me how I know.   (I use two layers of foam adhesive so those sequins move easily).

Die cut "valentine" from the Sentimental Happy Valentine's Day. Position as shown, then stamp rest of greeting from the Wireworks Hearts stamp set using Delicata Sapphire Blue ink.

...and yes I cut the acrylic stamp apart for easier positioning. ")

What colors are using for your Valentine's Day card????

Gorgeous card, the design is beautiful. I love the Wrapped Stitched Frames, every time I see them on a card, they creep higher up my wish list! xx

I will be using the traditional red/pink for Valentine's Day but I really like this
blue trend. Nicely done!

Love this! I'm still working on my thank you notes for the holiday, so no thoughts yet for V-day... that's next weekend, I think! And, your card looks a lovely blue on my ipad :).

super lovely in blue - I am using some Kraft and red - but will do the traditional red & white - I like black, Kraft, and creams very much - have a blessed week - TFS

siempre para San Valentina es rosa o rojo me parece bonito optar por otros colores me encanta como luce la tarjeta. Gracias por compartir.

Lovely shaker card! Pretty in blue! I normally use the traditional red and white!

Shaker cuteness in blue! A beautiful trend start:)
Love it totally!
I love to make Valentine cards usually in pink/red with a combo of Black/gold/ silver

This year I'm actually making blue valentines cards too for my husband and boys with a galaxy, you mean the world to me, theme. I love these wrapped stitched frames, such gorgeous details and they set off your sequins mix so well!

I've actually made a blue Valentine in the past since it's my sister's favorite color. Your card is gorgeous, Penny--may be time I make another one!

Hey, that's so different and cool. Nice job!

I like the blues, but will stick with red, white, pink and lavender for Valentine's Day cards!

Wow Penny, this is gorgeous! I love he tone on tone and the colour is stunning.I have got to have the Wrapped Stitched dies, they are so lovely.
I tend to stick to traditional red/pink for Valentine's cards, however you might have swayed that decision with this one.

Sweet card, Penny! I know so many people who love the color blue. Thanks for the inspiration.
