Warm Wishes Mug
by Laura Fulcher

IMG_0509

Greetings friends.  Christmas is almost upon us, so I thought it would be nice to pair one of the Cozy Mug dies with the Holly String die from Poppystamps.  I use the mug die for winter cards, but it is good for a Seasons Greetings card as well.  the nice thing is that the largest mug die actually fits a teabag, so it works well for cards that you want to make into a mini gift.

To make the card, I cut out a mug from kraft paper ad added a sentiment from the Playtime Elves stamp set.  The Holly String die is actually much longer than the top of the mug:

IMG_0512

I cut the holly string out of olive colored cardstock and then colored the centers of the leaves with a darker green Copic marker.  To finish the card, I added some rhinestones and layered everything onto some holly patterned paper.

On a side note, I made more bunny ornaments from the Snowbunny Deep Edge die, so I thought I would show you other color variations from the post I made with the die.  I plan to make more bunnies (without the hat) in the Spring.  I love the versatility!

Have a great day!

Faux Letterpress Merry Christmas
by Anne Thompson

I needed just a few more Christmas cards and I wanted a bit of a challenge, so I looked online for techniques I hadn't tried.  This faux letterpress technique was featured on a Jennifer McGuire video.  It is similar to inking up an embossing folder to get a colored impression.  The difference is that you layer up two or three die cuts and add a bottom layer of the same design cut from vellum.  Then you ink up the vellum, place the stacked images on watercolor paper, and run it through your die cut machine using the embossing stack of plates.  The process leaves the inked words deeply etched in the watercolor paper.  This was my first attempt:

IMG_0261 (3)

I used the LARGE SENTIMENTAL MERRY CHRISTMAS die 99804.  I cut it three times from thin white cardstock and once from vellum.  I stacked up the images right side up using a glue pen with the vellum layer on the bottom.  I inked up the vellum with Lady Bug Memento dye ink.  (Everything I read about this technique suggested that dye ink is the best for this purpose.)  I carefully placed the words ink side down on a piece of watercolor paper and set up my die cut machine plates for embossing.  After running this through the machine, I peeled off the die cut stack revealing the words pressed into the paper.  I trimmed it a bit smaller than the notecard and added strips of washi tape before adhering it to the notecard.  I added a red gem to dot the "i".

I re-inked the words using Ancient Page Aegean Blue dye ink for a second card.  (The word stack is reusable.  I made two more cards after these two and the stack is still good to use more times.)

IMG_0266

I was curious to see how this technique would work with other images.  I used the DECORATIVE POINSETTIA TRIMMING die 99865 (two layers of cardstock with one vellum layer) with Festive Berries Distress Ink.

IMG_0259

And then--TALL PINE die 99848 and Distress Evergreen Bough ink.

IMG_0268

Because these images were more detailed, and they tore when removing them, I wasn't able to get multiple impressions from each stack.  I think that if I lightly misted the paper with water I might get a different result with a deeper, smoother, and inkier image with less stress on the paper.  Think you might try this technique?  I'm already thinking ahead to valentines and hearts...

Happy Crafting!

Christmas Wishes
by Isha Gupta

Hello and Welcome! It's Isha with you today. Today, I am sharing a last minute Christmas Card with you. These dies make the last minute work so easy and quick and not to forget FUN :)

IMG_6119a_wm

To create this card, I cut a mat layer using white cardstock and sponged some distress inks to create the sky background. I then flicked some water and also white ink for added dimension.

I then die-cut the "Evergreen Landscape" onto white cardstock and applied some wink of stella clear glitter for subtle shine. Now, I adhered this piece to the background mat layer.

IMG_6122a_wm

I then die-cut the hill and stamped sentiment onto it. I then adhered it to the mat layer using 3D foam.

Now to the fun part. I die-cut the cute "Build a Snowman" die onto white cardstock, colored the hat, eyes, buttons, hands, nose and the scarf using copic markers. I then applied some glossy accent and added two kinds of glitters to the hat rim and pompom. Now I adhered these pieces to create the snowman and adhered it to the card using 3D foam.

Hope you enjoyed this card. Have a wonderful crafty day!

Radiant Candle
by Penny Ward

Glowing-candle

Hello Memory Box friends. Penny here today with a card suited for a man or woman. With the holiday creeping in on us, I am trying to get it all done...as I am sure you are too.

This card involves a bit of die cutting, piecing and stamping, but with your favorite color combo, you will have a pretty card to share with friends or family.

Let's get to it:

Start with a White cardstock base. Add thin strips of Brown and Aqua cardstock along the left side.

Glowing-candle-2

Die cut Distressed Baptista Collage from Aqua cardstock, trim to a tall triangle and adhere to card front as shown using Brown cardstock as a background. Add a thin strip of Aqua and Brown cardstocks at an angle like I have done.

Glowing-candle-3

Die cut Radiant Candle from White cardstock and adhere to card front including all the tiny pieces. Coat the tiny pieces with a Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle pen.

Stamp and heat emboss the sentiment from the Merry Christmas Sentiments set and add a few Glossy White Crystal Drops.

I love this color combo...what is your favorite combo?

Happy holiday crafting,

Quick and Easy Christmas Card
by Melissa Rusk

Hello friends! Today I have a quick and easy Christmas card if you are like me and are still in need of a few!

IMG_6688

I am in love with the Wrapped Rectangle die set and I have been using it every chance I get. I die cut two of the sizes for this card, one in red and one in white. On the white piece I then die cut the Deco Trees die. These trees are super cute!
IMG_6688

I put some green paper behind the trees and then layered the two rectangles. On my kraft card I wrapped some cream and gold twine before gluing the rectangles to the card. To finish it off I added a gold gem to the top of each tree. Easy and quick for a last minute card!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Build a Snowman
by Donna Sledzik

Good morning everyone!

We're getting close to Christmas!  I love making cards this time of year with the  wonderful dies and stamps from Memory Box which are so inspiring.  For today's card I couldn't resist using the cute "Build a Snowman" die set.

IMG_3628

To make this card I used texture paste and the Snowflake stencil to create the background of the card front.  Once the texture paste dried, I glued the card front to a red cardstock mat and glued that to a white card base.

I die cut all the card elements from watercolor paper and used distress inks to color them. For the fur on the snowman's hat and the snow in the background I used a Snow Writer, which puffs up once it is heated with a heat tool. I assembled the snowman and then adhered him to the snowglobe.  Once the snowglobe was assembled I added the snow to the background.

IMG_3615

Before I glued the snowglobe to the card front, I tied twine around it and embellished it with a bow and bell.

To finish the card I glued a snowflake to the top right of the snowglobe.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Batavia Snowflake Channel, Feathered Friends Deep Edge Dies and Starlight Snowflake Collage by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxBataviaSnowflakeChannel-MemoryBoxFeatheredFriendsDeepEdgeDies-MemoryBoxStarlightSnowflakeCollage-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxDeepEdgeDies-MemoryBoxChristmasCards-SnowflakeCards-BirdCards

Add a diecut snowflake wing to one of the Feathered Friends for a holiday design to match the delicate Batavia Snowflake Channel.  The matchup of soft peach, crisp white and gray creates a fresh look for Christmas - and a few gem stickers add a bit of bling.

Hi, Jean  Okimoto here, sharing another Feathered Friends Deep Edge die design.  The birds and owl will be great throughout the year - in fabric, felt, wood veneer, silkscreened prints...even recycled La Croix cans!

MemoryBoxBataviaSnowflakeChannel-MemoryBoxFeatheredFriendsDeepEdgeDies-MemoryBoxStarlightSnowflakeCollage-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Cut the bird from pale peach cardstock and gray printed paper.  Cut the eyes and beak from orange cardstock. Color the eye circle with a black Sharpie.

Cut Starlight Snowflake Collage from white cardstock, then cut it with the Feathered Friends wing die.

Assemble the bird - offset the gray layer  for dimension, and to add a pretty peach outline along one side.

Cut Batavia Snowflake Channel from white cardstock.  Trim it with the 4-¼" x 5-½" Rectangle Basics Die.  Attach it to a top-folded gray A-2 card with a tape runner or double-stick tape.  Here's an optional step -  I like to protect the card with printer paper and run the open card through my Spellbinders Platinum machine to seal the edges where the card meets the Batavia Snowflake panel.  This creates nice, neat edges and seals any gaps.  Details, details!

Attach the bird with foamdots.  Add silver and dark peach gem stickers.  Color clear gem stickers with a marker if you don't have matching gem stickers.

MemoryBoxBataviaSnowflakeChannel-MemoryBoxFeatheredFriendsDeepEdgeDies-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-MemoryBoxStarlightSnowflakeCollage-JeanOkimoto-SnowflakeCards-BirdCards

Imagine the same basic design with a column of hearts in February - or a leafy border in the spring.  Use a floral border in the summer and autumn leaves in the fall.  These birds will be busy!

Big thanks to everyone from last week's ASIAN INSPIRATION class at Impress!   Who would have guessed that so many Memory Box and Poppystamps designs could be used to diecut those beautiful silkscreened papers and Asian icons.  Thanks too - Ann, Erin and Lauren - for gathering those dies and papers for everyone.

If you're in the Seattle area, join us for my last class of 2017 - WINTER BLISS - on December 16th.  Make 6 un-holiday cards  - including a low-profile (OK...flat) shaker card using Memory Box products to create custom-sized shaker packets for glitter and diecut bits and pieces.  We're using the Feathered Friends dies too - Impress just received another shipment of them.

Thanks for visiting - see you again next week!

Golden Snowbreeze
by Jenny Griffiths

 Hello and welcome crafty friends,

The Batavia Snowbreeze die is once again featured on our blog.  In the last several days it has been in the spotlight on this blog by different designers (we never know which dies are being featured by one another until it posts) and guess what?  same die but very different designs, colors and techniques on each card.  Take a look back on this blog and you'll see what I mean.

This holiday season I am drawn to colors of gold and rose gold.  I bought some new holiday decor and rose gold is my favorite color theme.  Here's a card with those colors in mind.

IMG_0168 copy

Layers, layers and more layers...I can't help it.  I started with a top fold ivory note card, die cut the Batavia Snow Breeze along the right edge and gold embossed the Christmas sentiment.

IMG_0176 copy

Beneath the ivory layer, I added some beautiful gold glitter paper that peeks through the snowflakes, tiny breeze circles and the side edges.  One more layer of metallic chocolate card stock was added behind the glitter paper because I planned on using the sequin mix with the chocolate sequins (my fav).  This sequin mix is from Birch Press and is called "Not so heavy metal".

IMG_0163

As a final layer, I added three gold Batavia Snowflakes postitioned over the beautiful Snowbreeze design.  A few sequins later and I'm ready to send this and other cards out for the holidays!

Thanks for stopping by and I will be back right after Christmas---very warm holiday wishes to you and your family.

Cabin Circle, Snowy Tree Circle, and Wrapped Circles Ornament
by Anne Thompson

Dave's Ornament Video  the other day got me thinking about ornaments I might make from supplies on hand and using some of the newest dies.  This is what I came up with.

Side One

IMG_0241

Side Two

IMG_0240

Now let's look at how I put this ornament together.  I started with a kraft papier mache dimensional disk, about 3/8" thick. (For a class last year I purchased all I could find at Michaels for $1 each and still have a huge pile of them.)  I used a gold leafing pen to color the outside edge of the circle, overlapping a bit onto the front and back so none of the kraft would show once the circles were added.

IMG_0242

Side One:  I cut the CABIN CIRCLE 99884 for the focal image using heavy white cardstock.   I then cut around that using the 3.7" die from the WRAPPED CIRCLES die set 30114.  This was then the perfect size for the front of the disk.  I cut another circle that same size from distressed dot paper and another from white cardstock.  I cut the cabin part of the die from some brown striped paper, added the white roof, and glued some gold paper behind the window openings.

This is how it all went together:  plain white circle adhered to the disk, dot paper on top of that, Cabin Circle next, then the cabin itself and I glued in the white door.  It looked like it needed something more, so I cut the SNOWY TREE CIRCLE 99887 from white cardstock, snipped off the tree, and added it to the scene.

IMG_0235

Side Two:  I cut the Snowy Tree Circle from white cardstock and cut around it using the 3.7" Wrapped Circles die.  I also cut two more 3.7" circles, one white and one from decorative paper. This side went together quickly--white circle adhered to the disk, decorative paper circle, and the Snowy Tree Circle.

IMG_0237

I think I may add some sequins to the Snowy Tree side.  My friend Cathy would tell me it needs glitter, so that may happen as well.  I can see that I definitely need to make more of these for our Christmas tree.  Cards go out in the mail tomorrow morning and then I need to get to the craft store for fun foam so I can try Dave's shaker ornaments!

Happy Crafting!

Snowbreeze
by Penny Ward

Snowbreeze

Hi there Memory Box friends. Penny here today with another super easy peasy Mr. Sneezy card. Working with Glitter cardstock allows for very few embellishments, yet makes a striking creation.

So...here we go:

Start with a White cardstock base, then add a panel of Luxury Mirror cardstock in Ice Blue.

Snowbreeze-2

Cut Ice Blue Glitter cardstock 4.25 x 5.50 inches. Die cut with the largest of the Wrapped Scalloped Rectangles, then die cut again with Batavia Snowbreeze (the name is as elegant as the die cut). :) Adhere this panel over the base card.

Die cut a couple of the Grosgrain Ribbons from Glitter and Mirrored cardstocks. Adhere to card front about 2/3 down on the left side s shown.

Stamp and heat emboss sentiment from the Making Spirits Bright stamp set onto a scrap of the mirrored cardstock, trim end and adhere to card front.

Stamp, heat emboss and die cut the snowflake from the Making Spirits Bright stamp and die set.

We are in the home stretch for holiday card making...are you finished?

Happy Crafting,

Pennysignature
