Hello Memory Box friends! Wow, the last day of August already! Even though the summer has gone by fairly fast, I'm sure ready for sweater weather, aren't you? Maybe my card today will bring some cooler thoughts! It features the Snowflake Wire die and the Poinsettia Blooms from the latest release.
I decided to do one of my favorite techniques for the background of this card. I just love to smoosh!! I cut a piece of white card stock to 5" x 3-1/2", and smooshed on Dusty Concord, Seedless Preserves and Peeled Paint Distress Inks. I like this technique because you have some control over where you want the various colors to go. If you haven't done this before, it's super easy. Take your ink pad and squiggle some onto any non-porous surface and spritz with water. Then take a piece of packaging, like the one that our dies come in, bring it down to the ink, pick up the color and bring it over to the area you want to smoosh, then lay it onto the surface use your finger to spread the color underneath, making a one-of-a-kind pattern. Fill in the open spaces with the other colors using the same technique, then dry the whole surface with a heat tool. Once my piece was dry, I lightly sponged Seedless Preserves on all four edges, then adhered it directly to the front of a white A2 card base.
Next I cut two of the Snowflake Wire and added an orchid colored glitter to all of the snowflakes. I offset the two snowflake wires and adhered them to the top right corner of a 2-1/2 by 4-3/4" piece of white card stock, then stamped the Merry Christmas sentiment in the open area. From white card stock, I then cut three of the smallest poinsettia from the Poinsettia Blooms set. I heavily sponged Seedless Preserves on two of the poinsettias, offset them and glued them together, and added the orchid glitter to the top one. I sponged Peeled Paint on the third poinsettia so there would be some contrast and also to pair it with green that was smooshed. I snipped it apart, adhering three petals at the top back, and two to the bottom right.
I adhered to stamped piece of card stock with foam tape to the top left of the smooshed piece, then adhered the poinsettia with foam tape as shown. I was thrilled to find some orchid colored gem stones in my stash, so I scattered them around to finish the card.
I hope you enjoyed this card, and once again, thanks so much for stopping by!
